My hypothesis: I think if Saul had fully obeyed God, Jonathan could have been the king of Israel after Saul and we may not have needed to have a David in the first place. Saul's disobedience cost him his throne and the loss of his kingdom from his lineage

This message is so important! Yes David was excellent at repenting and returning to right standing with God but it didn't save him and his generations from dealing with the consequences of lust. Omo... Small lust can cause big problems. May our kids and grandkids not suffer the consequences of our nights of indiscretion.

Dear Gaisebaba, I appreciate your insights and theory on this topic, and I pray that you continue to grow in God's wisdom. However, I can't completely agree with some aspects of your hypothesis. Although I agree that there are eternal consequences for infidelity, and I really enjoy the track "Emergency" from the album 'A Decade After', many Bible scholars have criticized David for his actions on the roof that led to his sin. To better understand and balance your presented hypothesis, it's important to take a step back. David didn't choose to stay back during the time of war; rather, he was advised by his Generals not to join the war front because he had almost lost his life in the previous season's war. It's important to note that a king dying in battle in those days would signify the loss of the war, and a victory without the king's presence would as well jeopardize his reign over his subjects. David had no choice but to be "idle" during this time due to his age. However, he still had the choice to flee from temptation, as the Bible commands. Being idle is not the main issue, as there are times when we purposefully wait or stand, as referred to in Ephesians 6:13. On the other hand, Absalom was already quite popular, especially because of his hair and beauty, as described. This gave him an advantage over his siblings and made him popular among both men and women, similar to his father in his younger years. Additionally, it's not surprising that he displayed wisdom in judging matters at the gate, as princes were trained in various aspects of palace diplomacy and the art of war. Could he have been a strong contender for the throne? Maybe, maybe not, as God has often chosen unexpected candidates, as seen in the case of David himself and other biblical examples. However, did the whole situation spiral down due to adultery? Absolutely. Let's also not forget that God was angry with David for how quickly he fell from covetousness to shedding blood. The significance of blood wasn't hidden from the Israelites (Levi 17: 11) such that they were commanded to respect the blood of animals and not eat it (Deut 12:23). Furthermore, the note sent to Joab by David isn't what made the act abominable, but the "joy/relief" he felt when the report was brought to him. Although he lost more men due to the execution of the tactics, his joy was at the news of Uriah's death, and it was recorded as blood on his hand (Prov 24: 17). My Hypothesis: Could it be that Uriah's overzealousness to serve the king made him go to war, as there's a high chance that he had recently married Bathsheba? (the honeymoon period is expected for couples to conceive except in rare instances of infertility Deut 24:5)Could it be possible that Bathsheba deliberately chose to bathe in that particular location and time, knowing that she would be seen by the king? There was widespread awareness that the king was in town and had not gone to war like the others, making it highly likely that he would be within close range to observe her. Considering that she chose to bathe in broad daylight without appropriate coverings, it is reasonable to assume that she was conscious of her beauty and the likelihood of being seen by the king. After all, the king did not have binoculars to observe from a distance; it must have been a close and intimate encounter. Furthermore, while the balance of power leaned more towards David's side, it is worth noting that there is no recorded objection or restraint on Bathsheba's part, indicating that she was not raped. It is important to acknowledge that the sin was committed during a time when she was experiencing her monthly flow, which significantly lowers the chances of conception according to scientific understanding. As a result, it is plausible that there were multiple subsequent encounters before she eventually conceived. Additionally, it is worth considering that Bathsheba moved in with the king immediately after her mourning period, suggesting a level of agreement and complicity in the plan. Let us not ignore the possibility that the plan to summon her husband home was discussed between Bathsheba and the king, possibly during an intimate encounter after she informed him of her pregnancy. Traditionally, Uriah might not have died if he had returned home the first time and discovered her pregnancy. He could have chosen to divorce her, especially since he was a Hittite and not a full Jew like herself and David. Above all, let us continue to pray for the grace and guidance of the Holy Spirit. Keep doing the Lord's work and touching lives beyond imagination.

Nah bro, Bathsheba was implicit in the crime. She was a cause and beneficiary of all that happened to David. She knew the time the king came out at night, she knew her eggs were ripe and she still participated in ensuring her son Solomon became the new king. Omo fear women o.
