I just found this song and it could have been written for me! Three years ago on Good Friday I was counting pills! I never knew why there was a Good Friday! I thought Easter was a time to go to Grandma's house for lots of food! I reached out to a young man that I met at the gym and asked if I could go to church with him on Easter. He said yes and my anxiety was so high that I had to sit in my car before I went in! Since that time I have been baptized, joined the church, learned how to love people, stopped going to the casinos and other things! I have found a new life!

My Dad used to sing this song in church. When he would testify in church, he would always say where he was at, what time it was, what the date was, that the LORD saved his soul. November 11, 1962 about 1:30 in the morning. The LORD had been speaking to Dad, and he was trying to sleep. There was a spring in the mattress that kept poking him and the spring was loud, too. Dad got up, knelt beside that bed, and confessed all his sins to GOD. Oh...the angels were singing. Dad's name had just been written in the Lamb's Book Of Life. Dad never looked back. He served GOD faithfully until he passed away on December 26, 2014. My Mom passed 2 years before that on May 21, 2012.She was 70 and she had Alzheimer's Disease. He was 81 and he had Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. I have missed them so much since they went HOME.

I first heard this song (and this recording) on Bill Gaither's "Tribute to George Younce" CD. My eyes still water when I hear this song, and most of the last songs on this CD. Just like George, I have taken on this song as my own testimony. As I write this (8/22/18), I am in my 40th year of sobriety. So yeah, this is my testimony.

Anyway, the good news is that I have now made it to *45* years sober! 🙂That said, just to show you how powerful that stuff is, two weeks ago, had I some extra cash on me, I would have gone down to the bar and ruined it all! The struggle is real. But we soldier on! 🙂 Fun fact: Thankfully, I have had to add a third person I've known with more sobriety than me: the first has me by five months; the second has three years on me; and now the third one has four months on me! Praise God! (I confess that I was pretty shocked at that one who has four months on me, because I didn't know his past, nor he mine.) But as I tell people all the time who battle the same demons, "It is NOT a race, but it is a marathon!" "How do you do it?" "One day at a time, one step at a time." That's all I got. And The Lord. And as The Lord guides my steps, I will walk in them. And for me, that life is the sober one.

After many tours with the armed forces I struggled so much with my faith until I saw George Younce Sing, then I watched the late great vestal Goodman sing... I so wish that others here in Scotland could feel what I feel now when I listen to Gaither, you have brought back a very lost soul with lots of scars who's only goal in life now is to (although unfortunately I can't sing) so I will shout his name and praise his name from the rooftops until my very last breath.. The late Brother Mac Mcbride, missionary in Germany to the military, used to sing this at Rheilnland Baptist Church. It was his testimony in song. Never a dry eye in the place. I miss him greatly.

Today in church I talked to a gentleman who said his son's hid when he came home until they could see what kind of shape he was. We talked about how sad those days were and how God had intervened to make a 180 degree turn in his life. It reminded me to come home and play "Thanks to Calvary" because without Calvary there is no real change.

The most important thing that we all had better be beforehand we leave this life my husband has survived cancer back trouble and a stroke after driving a truck for 35/ years and he gives the lord for as he says Jesus rode every mile with his journey has taken him all over the United States and Canada over five million miles and he says it is well with his soul please pray for him he is haveing medical problems now but he still loves the Lord and thanks Jesus for it all ❤he has such a good attitude and loves everybody thank you and god bless everyone who reads this amen
