George Younce's voice was amazing. So many great singers in this performance. Loved seeing David Phelps (min 1:16) in the background shake his head in amazement as George was singing in his deepest voice. Up Above My Head was written on Easter of 1950. My father wrote the chorus in German. He was looking forward to being part of the heavenly choir. The Sunday School teacher Vera McNealey repeated the thought in Low German. The next verse was written by Donald Strickland. Vera McNealey wrote the next part in Gedolic. The descant was written in French by Ethel Strickland. The next chorus was translated into Gaelic by Hilda Ahlemann. The descant for this part was written in Gedolic by Ethel Strickland. The chorus was written in German by Frederick Ahlemann. The next part was written in Gaelic by Ella Butler Martin. Mary Ahlemann continued the chorus in Gaelic. The descant part was written in Dutch by Doris Strickland. Earl Strickland Sr translated the chorus into Dutch. Daniel Ferris wrote the descant in the Pamunkey Native American language. With Gene Scott? I don’t mean to sound disrespectful, but didn’t Gene Scott become an oddball of sorts around the 70’s or 80’s when he went off the deep end? He started wearing all kinds of goofy hats and smoking cigars on stage. If it’s the same Gene Scott I remember when I’d see him on his own television station in California. I wonder if he ever got back on the right track. He was a very brilliant man. I believe he wrote a ten-year tenure for the Assemblies of God Denomination.

I asked a Baptist brother if he ever saw him on the tube and he said, “Kook City.” I doubt that he ever left the principles of Christianity because he stayed true to the Word. But I remember one AG pastor who knew him personally, say that Dr. Scott heard a voice that said that we get all the anointing we’re ever going to get when we are converted. Not true!!! I need a fresh touch from God every day. I need His grace every time I go back to the Cross for whatever reason I am there. By the way, is Gene Scott still living, or do you know?

Today was the very first time I heard this song...Of course I’ve heard the jazzy throwback Kirk Franklin’s version(I love that one) But I just have to listen to this song again I literally smiled the whole song like they were extra excited & the bass singers were OMG I’ve never heard of or even seen any of these singers before but...I’ll just say that it was just AWESOME!!!🎶💛🤗
