👉 Gazoldoba - All you need to know BEFORE you go (2024)
In the Rajganj CD block of the Rajganj subdivision of the Jalpaiguri district in the Indian state of West Bengal, there is a village called Gajoldoba, also known as Gojaldoba. Built for irrigation in 1985, the Gajoldoba Teesta Barrage and its reservoir have grown to be well-liked tourist destinations and birdwatching hotspots. The legend surrounding Baikunthapur Forest, which encircles the reservoir, states that Lord Krishna and his major consort, Rukmani, choose the forest as their hiding location.
The Teesta River dam, which was constructed for irrigation, is the reason Gajoldoba is well-known among tourists. Encircled by the deep Baikunthapur forest and the meandering Teesta and Mahananda rivers, Gajoldoba has captured the imagination of tourists visiting Dooars with its otherworldly beauty.
A New Bridge is Built at a Cost of 120cr Rupees on the cannel of Teesta at gajoldoba. In winter you can watch lots of migrant birds here.
👉 Transportation:
New Jalpaiguri railway station (NJP) is the nearest rail head to Gajoldoba located around 30 km away via Gajoldoba and it is 45 KM away from Bagdogra Airport. Odlabari Bus stand is situated 19 KM from Gazoldoba.
