This has great value proposition even for those who aren't travelling (let's face it, this guitar was not built for 2020 as a concept). I can imagine this being a couch guitar, something you put in the back of the car for trips, or even for school children getting acquainted with the electric guitar.
@everythingisanAd3 жыл бұрын
The school kids thing is on point, perfect for a kid who wants to play, then if they get bored and stop playing, dad(or shredder mom) could still use it since it's just short scale rather than a mini kids guitar

Howd you like it?
@SS-ic6vo Жыл бұрын
I like it. Because of the short scale it takes heavy gauge strings so it's got this big burly sound that would make you think it's a bigger guitar if you couldn't see it. And I like the feel of the Daddario NYXL strings I put on it. One drawback of this super short scale at least for me though is the distance between the frets on the higher end is so small it's hard to finger. You have to be super precise in fretting and pressure up there. But overall I really like the guitar,. Lately I've seen these guitars marked way down to $159.00 and $200.00 with one of the small Blackstar amps. That's a deal for a guitar with the features this one has. I paid $300.00 for mine.

20.7
@sfcrotty3 жыл бұрын
20.7 is the scale length, not the overall length. Blackstar site lists the overall length as 760mm, just under 30 inches. If that’s true, it’s almost exactly the same as the Steinberger Spirit (30.25 inches).

@thecaveofthedead4 жыл бұрын
Great concept. The existence of rechargeable battery powered amps also now makes travel guitars more of a viable alternative to acoustics for travel. They made a great compromise with the feel and aesthetics by the looks. Too many travel guitars don't really look like much.
@bigbasil1908 Жыл бұрын
I remember back in the early 90's seeing a teenager and his dad busking in Colchester, England with a plastic 5 liter jerry can converted into an amp. I don't know what batteries it used but it was loud enough to do the busking they were doing.

I made the mistake of getting a Taylor GS-mini Koa plus for traveling. It’s a great guitar, but it’s almost to nice to travel with. Also if you road-trip as much as I do you’ll realize that even a travel acoustic takes up too much room.

Cool guitar and cool sounds, but with all the wasted space behind the bridge plus the large headstock, I’m guessing that even a full scale headless strandberg (copy, for that price) would be shorter. Again though: cool guitar! I’ll probably buy one if they make a lefty. I think what I might do is put on .08 gauge strings and tune it an octave higher

@tomaskey68442 жыл бұрын
Just got one yesterday and it is terrible! Is it a Friday afternoon special? It will NOT hold tune and the tuners are crappy. The G string has a nasty buzz. The overall sound is dark and it takes extreme and very unusual settings to get a decent sound. I ran it through a Yamaha THR30II, Katana Artist, and a Lunchbox Junior. The tone knob is fine but the volume knob is too loose and is scratchy. Maybe the pickup is okay, maybe not. If I kept the guitar I’d replace the pickup to test it. To make it usable I’d have to replace the tuners, pots, and have a fret job and set up done. That ain’t right for a brand new guitar.

Just too expensive!! The new VOX SDC-1 mini has the better price value and stays also in tune.
@zenzero77463 жыл бұрын
You’re not getting as solid of tone wood in SDC-1, and the neck is shorter and so thinner frets up the neck on the SDC-1, plus the look and binding on this is superior.
@Phoboss323 жыл бұрын
@@zenzero7746 I tried both. For me, the Vox SDC-1 was more ergonomic and the tuning was stable. No wonder with the factory 0.12 strings and the special tuners. The build quality is really impeccable. The frets are perfectly shaped. Tone wise they are similar. Of course, at the price tag of the blackstar, one would expect binding. But this is depending on the taste (and budget). To conclude, both guitars are way better than Fender Mini Strat/Jazzmaster, Jackson Minions and their like.
@rickbales648 ай бұрын
@@Phoboss32 due to the arthritis in my hands I play a Fender mini. I really love the Strat tone. Does the single coil sound in this guitar compare to a Strat? I would love to have an alternative guitar that I could physically play. But so far listening to most of the demos, it sounds really good with high gain or picking arpeggios on clean chords, but I haven’t heard any real good examples with that funky strat style spank
