Ali Mehdi is the son of legendary Pervez Mehdi, the true desciple of Mehdi Hassan, the legend of the legends. It's his debut performance in CS Pakistan. I have already mentioned somewhere that Coke Studio Pakistan has come up with classic after classic this season, thanks to Rohail Hayat who is back with a bang. You have given the words to my feelings in your reaction videos regarding CS 2020. I'm really obliged to you two for rendering great services to music with your wonderful analyses. Finally...a long awaited reaction video. Ali Pervaiz Mehdi is son of Pervaiz Mehdi who's guru was the legendary Mehdi Hassan sb. If you want to see more of Ali Pervaiz Mehdi you should check out Boss Menn youtube channel. In fact Ali is settled in US and has very less appearance in Pakistani music scene. About the reaction video....it was expected to leave the listeners in a happy mood at the end and both of you have covered all aspects very well. Pleasure to watch the reaction. Keep it up 👍

here it goes again for your info. "I was first introduced to Gal Sunn and Ali Pervez by Zain Ali who shared a demo with me that he had made. I loved both from the word go, especially how Zain had treated the song. The song has gone through quite a few changes since then, but the DNA of the track is still from Zain’s lovely demo. In trying to understand the complexities of eastern music, I’ve come to realise that a lot of times why fusion music doesn’t work is because it can significantly change or ‘distort’ the essence of the original intention behind the melody. For instance, sad can turn happy and happy can become something else simply because of the selection of ‘chords’ behind a melody. Eastern music relies on melodic nuances that touch certain notes or frequencies and these can cause a ‘clash’ if used with standard chords. Gal Sunn is a good example of such a melody. It touches so many ‘added’ notes that avoiding these potential ‘clashes’ became a bit like walking through a landmine. Therefore in retaining the spirit of eastern music, I have tried my best to stay clear of these and that’s why the song ‘sounds’ a certain way. The very talented Ali Parveiz is a master vocalist and an amazing person. The ease with which he delivers his vocals and the command he has over these eastern notes and nuances are a pure pleasure to experience. As with most Sufi music, there are deeper messages within what seems like a love story of the younger years. Gal Sunn represents this allegorical nature. Again, I felt this song could do with a reply from the other side and so we set out to make a counter-melody and find a performer for this. Zara Madani came up with the catchy melody that Meesha Shafi has sung so effortlessly. Meesha liked the song instantly and related to the emotion. She completes the song rather well in my opinion. She and Ali make a lovely singing pair. The opening and the mid break from where Meesha kicks in are musical passages that are cyclic in nature and tend to indicate the lower cycle of rhythm playing behind the surface rhythm. One of my personal favorite,Meesha Shafi, but Ali was having the most fun! Seriously he rocked throughout. Music was really enriching and I agree with you gals about the backing vocals, they were great. Wish Meesha had more verses. Jo I listened to this song on repeat for few days usually while making breakfast and getting ready, fun little number.

This was a happy reaction to a happy song. Joy all around! Ali was such a revelation and Meesha gold as ever. And then you sprinkle the Rohail magic and it becomes perfection. It’s fun watching how much joy it brought to you two. As for the reaction requests - you really, really, really need to get to the gems you’ve missed from season 9 onwards. Khumariyan - Ya Qurban is a standout performance, and so very different from the usual CS fare (if one can be ridiculous enough to coin that term). Naina Morey - the last time we saw Aamir Zaki before he sadly passed away was also a treat because of its exceptional vocalists. And the repeatedly requested Allahu Akbar with Shafqat Amanat Ali and Ahmad Jahanzeb singing their way into making it one of the very best across all CS seasons is simply not to be missed....

@@usmanarif24 Exactly! The heights and horizons which Shafqat and Ahmad scaled and explored in that song continue to be unmatched. Also, by far the best production by Strings in their final season with CS. Naina Morey with Jawad and Akbar Ali on the vocals and Aaqa with Abida Parveen and Ali Sethi were two other gems - in the same season if I am not wrong. And then, of course, there is Ya Qurban by Khumariyan, the Rubab treat.
