The thing that amazes me is the models. These dozens of handmade intricate models that they would film on live sets.

Watch the Making of Alien documentary. The artists spent months modelling the Nostromo into this epic space cathedral...then Ridley Scott comes in, says it's too intricate and starts chiselling away at it in front of them. 😁

I have some of those models. I think they are made by Eaglemoss. I am about halfway there in collecting the whole collection, unless there's more. I will start making more videos on my collections after Friday, when I get a photo tent from Amazon.

Are you serious? Have you seen The Expanse? Firefly? Colony? None of those shows could've ever been made in the past. And that's just scratching the surface. Not to mention this version of Battlestar Galactica is incredibly campy and for the most part not written that great. What an ignorant comment.

That clip was from the feature film CONQUEST OF THE EARTH, which was edited from several episodes of GALACTICA 1980. It explains three credited directors. And it was an enjoyable mish mash featuring Wolfman Jack and a stage performer wearing a Scooby Doo costume.

exactly! it was a theatrical edit with the footage taken from the Galactica 1980 episodes "Galactica discovers Earth, Part 1 & 2", "The Night the Cylons landed, Part 1 & 2" and the scenes with Baltar, Luzifer and Spectre taken from the classic Galactica episode "The young Warriors" which was new dubbed with an alternate dialogue for this theatrical edit.

@dave19941000 Baltar died in the theatrical version. In the pilot he was spared and became the Galactica's major foil after the Imperious Leader gave him a base star to chase down and offer his "terms" to the humans. Eventually Baltar was captured by the colonials and then released and marooned on a world after helping them to destroy a base star in the final episode.

No, BALTAR died in the Pilot Episode, or so we thought, or, were led to believe. YET, Baltar continued on in the series. In the theatrical version, Imperious Leader has been replaced in the "big seat" by Baltar, at the very end. BTW, the theatrical version was released AFTER Galactica was *canceled*.

1:21 I had this tape in the 1990's and wondered about this gold or red raider and why it was never used in the original series. It seemed there was several special effects shots and models that weren't used that could've been used to space out the repetitive effects on Battlestar Galactica and Galactica 1980.

I do have great love and respect for the original. I WAS appalled by Galactica 1980 - and yes Doctor Z was an abomination. They could have and should have done something different. Now as to the reboot my opinion is that the whole was less than the sum of its parts (and oh, Six's parts) - it had some fabulous moments for me but overall it failed to grab me and I'll always wish they had gone with my idea ... the reason why the Colonists can't tell a Cylon Infiltrator from themselves is that THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE, THEY'RE ALL CYLONS - the real Colonists had escaped thousands of years ago and the machines in an effort to understand were recreating the events, over and over again, incidently perfecting their Infiltration units.

A role that John Colicos revived in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Commander Kor became known as Kor, the Da'har Master. His appearance was in several episodes; "Blood Oath", where he, two other Klingons and Curson Dax went after a fugitive from justice; "The Sword of Kahliss", where he and Dax and Worf quested for the legendary sword of a mythic Klingon; "Once More, Unto the Breach", where Kor fends off a Jem'hadar fleet alone to save a Klingon fleet from destruction.

Galactica 1980 is an Abomination. What they should have done is an animated series based on the first season for Saturday morning cartoons. Kind of like Star Trek did after it went off the air. While the second season of Star Trek was very strong the third season of that show was ruined as well. The networks don't have a clue when it comes to science fiction. Never have and never will.

Gute Frage!

This one from 1980 is a re-edited version of the three-part episode "Galactica Discovers Earth" and "The Night the Cylons landed" from Galactica 1980, with the addition of several scenes with Baltar, Lucifer and Spectre from the first series episode "The Young Lords" which were overdubbed with new dialogue.
