I was born in 1971. Music from the 1980s can be divided into early 80s and later 80s. Later 80s was much more like pop music; the early 80s was the classic synthwave sound. This video truly captures the synthesizer-driven music of the early 80s that was so magical and different from the 1970s-era music that preceded it. Synthwave reflected the spirit of the 1980s: technology and forward-looking optimism.

Not that they're dangerous or anything, but they sparkled in the 80's when we were teenagers. Born in 1978, a child of the 80's, a rebel (teen years) in the 90's. As I remember most of the 90's on a more conscious level, it is the 80's that has made an impact to me. Whenever I hear 80's music, it automatically takes me back into a "non-specific memory" but more of like a "feeling" of bitter-sweet childhood emotions where everything was pure, simple and happy. 80's will always be the best, where everyone was awesome and cool. 80's will always have an unbreakable bond in my heart until my dying days. Music like these, it's transcendental. You're a genius man! Thanks for this.

I'm 33, grew up in the 90's and early 2000's, obviously. But such a soothing Feeling of Nostalgia and Greatness of a positive, humanistic 80's Spirit+Vibe always overcomes me with such Music. As If i have been alive a little earlier already!

Even though I was born in 1989, I still feel like I have some sort of spiritual connection with this magical decade. I'm just so drawn to every good thing that the 80's had despite not really getting to experience said decade physically. Thank you for putting this out.

Well, the general feeling of the 80s bled well into the 90s. They were both distinct, but the spirit was similar. Stark contrast between them and the 2000s-present. You're the same age as my little brother, and he's through and through an 80s/90s kid.

Born in 1969. Lucky enough to have lived every second of my youth in the 80's. It's not hyperbole to say that in America the 80's were pure magic. The nexus of technology, booming economy, pop culture and good-natured patriotism were a once in a lifetime event.

Born 73' The 80's rocked! so glad I made that generation. We were taught to be self-sufficient. Some of us were neglected, but not un-loved... just left to ourselves, (which I actually loved); so many good times and memories. Music was a HUGE part of our lives, probably because it wasn't instant, at least not until CD's. All the tapes I owned had been bought at least 2X minimum. Soundtracks were a big deal back then, this playlist is a memory pill of sorts, thanks for sharing! When my kids hear me talk about high school, they just can't relate, at all. They don't get that talking, storytelling and hanging out was the norm. Most kids have a hard time communicating, but they can all text. I'm so thankful youtube and cell-phones were not around back then, even though I use each a lot today.

This sound and this image define the difference between growing up in the 80’s and being born in the 80’s. A lot of us born in the 80’s lay a massive claim on the decade instead of admitting that we grew up in the 90’s and 2000’s when things stopped being so simple. Really wish I had been a teen in the 80’s instead.
