Normally Galactus beats Thor yes, however, Galactus was weaker in this than normal. The universe was dying so he didn't have as many planets to feed on. Thor was significantly stronger than normal, he has the Thor force plus he's a lot older too. Thor's Thor force is a lot stronger than Odin's because, Odin's force had 2 older skyfathers "force" while Thor's had those 2 plus Odin's "force". That makes Thor's force with 3 skyfathers forces. This isn't much of a stretch that Thor could hold out for so long, not only that but he still lost. Yes, Thor did kill him eventually with the help of his daughters and that sword (can't remember what it's called) but Galactus is on a whole other level than Thor. I'm a HUGE Thor fanboy but it's pretty obvious which characters can beat him.

While future Thor (or modern day Odin) utilizing the full power of the Odin/Thor Force has been shown capable of rivaling Galactus' might in a weakened/hungry state it's been shown time and time again to still not be enough and Galactus ultimately triumphs (See Matt Fraction's Thor run where Odin grows to Galactus' size and the two fight it out in space). It should also be noted that the text at the end of this video calling the defeat of a God "momentous" and "something never done before" are not Galactus' words, but those of Roxxon's new CEO from a parallel story running concurrently with this one in the same book in which he has humbled modern day Thor. Additionally this is not the end of the Battle, but for all intents and purposes is where it leaves off in terms of a strait up, no gimmicks, face off. Following these events Galactus begins feeding on Earth he reaches a near unassailable state of power and is only delayed in feeding further by Thor's three granddaughter goddesses who fight futilely against the Devourer's wrath. Meanwhile a wounded Thor seeks out the cursed blade of Gorr the God Butcher which he had thrown into a black hole and returns with it promptly striking down Galactus with a single blow. In a final act he then hurls the blade down Galactus' throat causing the crippled giant to fume and burn with gargling agony. Though Galactus is presume slain it is later shown he survives and has unexpectedly begun his transformation into "Galactus the World Butcher"

First they are not throwing the term god around Stan lee wanted to create a strong superhero in his first line up of the avengers in the 1950s. So he got the idea when he was looking up Norse mythology and found out that Thor is the strongest Norse god so he made a comic around him and they also have the Christian god in marvel to it’s called the god head where it the fusion of every god of every religion . Context is greatly required based on the level of ignorance on both sides of the debate here so I shall provide it. First and foremost Galactus is not a being of pure energy he is a cosmic being yes but first and foremost not a energy being. To liken him to such is to say the same of Odin or Thor who are beings of energy as well in some form or another. Galactus converts planets to energy to consume because like a battery he requires the sustenance. Some would argue this makes him a being of energy but even if it were erroneously true even batteries require a physical shell to contain the said energy meaning physical form. Secondly Asgardians can typically live for generations as in a thousand years plus because they age at a slow pace, old king Thor exists many millennia from now because it's said he rules over Asgard at the end of time. All of the avengers and earth are gone meaning everyone is dead including gods from other pantheons which explains so few of them in the future. Lastly Thor has the Odinforce here which by this time is called the Thor Force meaning he obtained mastery over it. Combined with the Divine Life force he contains makes him easily the rival of the world eater fed or not. Galactus being at full strength does nothing except in regards to how much energy he can expend before he cannot fight it does nothing in regards to powers. Facing off these two are at a even keel but yes the writers do take some liberties here because Thor did not use his godly life force through the hammer nor did he use the Thor force all that much. The reason being the writers needed to bring back Gorr's weapon as a plot device and likely for a future plot as Galactus now has the black weapon attached to him. Now this should clarify for the most part what many have misinterpreted or flat out mistaken. Hopefully this will end the nonsensical misinformation but that can't be helped if many don't heed these words.

Anyone can beat a starving Galactus like in this story Hell The Fantastic Four did a few times. Not sure why people are even commenting without reading the story. It says right in the story Galactus is starved, he has not fed on a life giving planet and centuries. Even starved Galactus beats King Thor and King Thor has to get the Necrosword to win. If you read the follow up issue Galactus seems to feed on the Necrosword and becomes something weird.

True but it is still a good showing for Thor . Galactus has been beaten a handful of times when starving like in this story. Liked the art. Galactus when fed collapsed and restored the UNIVERSE that should tell people something. When fed Galactus is far more powerful then even Rune King Thor.

I didn't know people thought Galactic wasn't above Skyfather. The only version of Thor(the only version of any main stream marvel hero) that could beat Galactus is RKT. This isn't a slap to anyone's face, it's an epic fight that shows what would happen if powers like this came to blows with no reason to hold back. I hate giving Aaron credit but "The Last Days of Midgard" was amazing in every way. Why does a Marvel fight that makes DBZ look like a heavyweight boxing match get turned in to the pointless and endless Hulk vs Thor debate. Enjoy it.
