Siva is a perfect example of someone who doesn't wish to heed constructive criticism and just wants to keep doing films that make him happy. Sadly, business wise doesn't work in market. 4 films with Ajith and he hasn't learnt a thing. Visual spectacle without proper writing looks incoherent, bland and incomplete. That's been the case with all his films so far in his illustrious career spanning a decade now. Arrogance only has one path.

The present day characters were all irritating. But most of all, that kid. That scene where he cries for his mother after seeing a bird feeding its kids is the best example of terrible acting that ever existed. The editing was just horrible. I know it's not nice to say bad things about a dead person, but either his last work was terrible or whoever replaced him ruined everything he did. The placement of the Thalavane song was just horrible. I liked Kanguva's entry. It had some decent dialogues. Suriya was good whenever he was Kanguva and didn't have to deal with the overacting kid. The transition in the kid's behaviour was too sudden. Disha is only there for the Yolo song and putting handcuffs on Francis. Yogi Babu's role ended with him firing guns in the air. Francis clinging on to the plane after getting shot and taking hits makes Tom Cruise look ordinary. That reminds me, why wouldn't they close the entrance of the plane before flying. The only good thing about the kid is that he seems to be good at drawing. As a Suriya fan, my only relief is that Suriya 44 shooting is over and it hopefully will be a good movie and won't take too much time to release.

Baddy you missed a point - there is a shot where the cop played by KS Ravi Kumar is offering the bounty to Suriya and Yogi Babu and that time the screen shows the time as 12:30 pm ; the very next scene the screen shows the time as 5:30 pm cos this time the cop played by KS Ravi Kumar is offering the same bounty to Disha Patani and Redin Kingsley. Looks like you totally missed this and hence found the mention of time on the screen as random.

The boy is basically the male version of 11 from stranger things! Period Portion is Apocalypto/Bahubali crossover. Kanguva's hair reminded me of a toned-down version of Travolta from Battlefield Earth.

There is solid work done in developing the world of the Five isles.. but it feels like everything that is wrong with the film stemmed from the direction dept. I don’t want to completely blame Siva.. he has written the story.. on paper this should’ve been a great film but on screen it’s unbearable & somewhat okay at times. Subtlety is completely thrown out of the window. It’s not that people don’t like when characters are loud or shouting.. but it has to be done right. Rather than shouting in every single scene. To give a good example.. Viking related story.. Vinland Saga, Kid Thorfinn screaming ‘I’ll kill you’ at Askeladd.. than scream was far beyond loud that any shouts from this film but still it works like magic. 1) Because it’s at a pivotal emotional point and isn’t repeated 2) Voice acting is done perfectly.. the scream is visceral from the voice screeching from dryness. However all screams in Kanguva feel the same.. they lack to convey what emotion is being conveyed. I go deep into this.. because we see a lot of media where the acting is loud but it still works.. primarily in Anime medium.. because voice acting is not an easy job.. screams & shouts have to convey emotions. Leaving this aside.. Current era portion felt like torture.. & Past era portion felt like am being taken for granted.. because there was so much scope for greatness in the script but the director’s choices in how to present each scene kept me constantly thinking… If only they had used this kind of shots or frames or acting choices.. this scene would’ve been so great. Kanguva’s past era story has the epicness on paper.. it feels like, in a better director’s hands this film would’ve worked great! If they’re going to make the part 2.. I hope, Siva hires a experts of writing team to go over the story writing with him & either collaborates or hands over the script to a different director to give the film a different approach or perspective. Idk, maybe that could work.

The present portion was the worst ever scenes in Kollywood it literally spoiled the periodic portion. Periodic portions were the peak of cinema it's just on another level.....but no proper writing for the villain character. Music was good no issues. VFX and art work of periodic portion was definitely on a Hollywood standard.....but the same was the worst in the present portion. A good lead to part-2 but Francais character spoiled the depth of kanguva.

The problem is Pan India movies with the pressure of making this movies people forget the roots why do you need pan India movies now?
