I have this exact fan- for 45 years! Still works great and quite and it is very practical

I just purchased one from a vintage store. Going to use it to circulate the air in a room that doesn't get much A.C.

Grew up with one of these in the house when A/C wasn't available like it is today. These fans rock and will keep a room cool after running for a few hours. Designed to circulate the cool air from the floor up and around. And the top gets cold which adds to the cooling capability. They work well for days when it's not brutally hot. I've been looking for one that I can refurbish. Too bad they don't make them anymore. They do the job.

I've just found a hassock fan at my dad's work at lifetime fitness yesterday it was in the dumpster but the medal part was badly rusty thankfully it runs and with a medal brush was able to get all that rust off I just don't understand why people would throw vintage fans away and only finding new ones at thrift stores this makes me feel more sad but since my uncle's passing I've got to find more vintage fans in dumpsters to restore and sell for money they are really easy to find since I've been looking in dumpsters for vintage fans I've found in total of 87 and I'm running out of room in my dad's house so I've been selling them to people that are smart enough to take care of them🙂

It never fails to amaze me what people will discard. I've gotten plenty of great stuff from the trash.

Me, too. I just got one from an auction and want to clean it inside. Mine works like a champ and I did clean the outside really good. I love it!!

This is probably my second favorite hassock fan, next to the lucite cage Air Flights, of course
@JordanU3 жыл бұрын
It's certainly an interesting design, though I question its practicality.
@whoisthisguy7243 жыл бұрын
@@JordanU I can see it, at least in the days before air conditioning was an amenity. Put it in the center of the room, turn it on and it'd blow air out in all directions

It's an interesting design, but I can't see how it would be very practical.

I picked up a fe-an just like that a couple years ago. It was like new and I sold it on the eBays. I don't remember how much I got. The cost of shipping turned most people away.
@JordanU3 жыл бұрын
This is certainly one item I would not want to ship!

I don't know too much about these. It's from no later than 1986 or 87 judging by that Galaxy logo. Is that blade the same as the oscillating fans? I like the range of speeds on this one.
@JordanU3 жыл бұрын
A closer inspection would be required to confirm, but I tend to think it is the same blade.

It's good for circulating air in a room without a ceiling fan. I don't get why they put a pretty blue fan blade in such a case where you can't see it all that well. I miss it when they used to put blue blades in fans.
@JordanU3 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing about the blade, it's almost as if they were just using up leftover stock from the other models.

The number printed in ink on the bottom dates this fan to 1983.

Thanks for letting me know.
@apfanco3 жыл бұрын
For future reference, most lasko fans I’ve seen from 1978-mid 90’s all have those ink numbers on the bottom, the way to date them is that the first number is always the last number of the year. Of course it’s up to you to determine the decade, for example 1978, 1988, or 1998

Probably got dirt under the switch from people putting they're dirty boots up on the fan like a foot stool.
@JordanU3 жыл бұрын
Perhaps
@Xyspade3 жыл бұрын
The only glaring issue with these things is the fact that it's designed to be a centerpiece in a room, therefore how in the world is one supposed to asthetically and functionally route the power cord? The switch is kind of a dumb design, I can see how dirt would fall in there and get trapped since it's a recessed area, etc. Cool concept though. Perhaps it's pretty good at drawing cooler air from the bottom of the room and cycling it back up to the top.
@JordanU3 жыл бұрын
That glaring issue is exactly why I don't quite understand the use case for these. It blows out to the side more than upwards. I tend to think it would be a lot more effective even if the top was just open.
