As an all-time iPhone user who left Apple and transitioned fully to Android because of the fold, I grabbed the Fold 5 pre-release and haven't looked back. Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and Galaxy Bud Pro 2's. Syncs with Windows seamlessly, and with my car stereo faster than Apple (Volkswagen). Popped a slim case with a stand on it and haven't looked back.

The Z Fold 5 is my first folding phone and the level of productivity I can accomplish with this device is incredible. I am in the minority, but I actually prefer the more narrow front cover. It's just easier to slip into my jeans or joggers. I have to say your videos continue to impress and I'm glad I'm subscribed. Looking forward to 2024.

Waiting on the Fold 6. Only thing I'm hoping for is for SPen support on both screens and possibly a less noticeable crease. Not that the crease bothers me now on my Fold 3, but with the Open and other improving the crease, I would be surprised if Samsung doesn't improve theirs. For those that want a more traditional cover display, and a silo for the SPen, I hope Samsung introduces 2 variants of the Fold 6, like a regular Fold and an Ultra. I like the current cover screen ratio as is, because it is easier for ME to wield in one had, but I get that it is difficult for people with larger hands. With an Ultra, they may be able to appeal to me, who like the form factor as is, as well as those like yourself that want a more traditional sized cover display. Great video as always Sir. Every time I watch one of your videos, I hear the Golden Girls, theme song, "Thank you for being a friend " because your video give me that vibe that I'm getting an honest opinion. Enjoy your trip!

I love my Fold 5. I've considered switching to the OP but I just feel like overall the Fold is a much better, more complete device. Outer screen is perfectly usable and I use it all the time; however, it is a folding phone, so the idea is to use the inner display more. Is it perfect? No. Is it a fantastic device? Absolutely! I am looking forward to see what Sammy will do with Fold 6.

Technology is great on the inner screen. I've used a Fold 3 and now Fold 5 with absolutely no issues. I've read accounts from people still on Fold 3 these years later (one actually in construction) with no issues. Yes, some will experience them, but honestly they're not as prevalent as you'd think.@@june_o9

@David.AVelez I just wanted to tell you about my z fold 5 workaround for quickly pulling down the notification shade from any screen. If you get the "one hand operation+" Goodluck module them you can set up a custom gesture for doing a ton of different things. I currently use a downwards diagonal swipe from either edge of my screen to pull down the notification shade. 🎉😋 it is super duper smooth and fast and feels very similar to the way the fingerprint swipe down felt. I hope this helps and thanks for making all the great foldable content! 👍

I had the Pixel Fold and the OnePlus Open in my hands and yes, the wider frontdisplay is great BUT we talk about folding phone. So I don't need a big or wide front display. And the S-Pen is for me the "killer argument". The Z Fold 5 is a real "working horse", including DEX.

I got the open, and love everything about it. I find the os so much another than one ui. And the haptics are insane! It's not as consuming as the Samsung but it is very customizable with the smoothness of pixel/Nexus

Totally agree it's hard to go back once you've used tha Fold.. I've been a Note user since the Note 2 then went to the F3 and now on the F4.. Didn't go for the 5 cause there wasn't really much of a difference and I'm usually the guy who upgrades every year.. The only thing Samsuhg needs to put into the Folds are the flagship cameras from the S line of samaungs like the S22 or S23 Cams.. Also wish they'd bring the expandable memory back ..

Hello Mr. David, I hope you're doing well. I came across your channel for the first time this weekend with your Fold 4 Long Term review. I'm loving your videos btw. To give some slight background though before I ask my question. I've had the OnePlus 8 Pro for a couple of years now and I was looking to either upgrade to a new Iphone or a Folding phone because I think they look interesting and I could get a lot of use out of them. First I thought I would just get the Oneplus Open but I still wasn't necessarily fully convinced on spending that much for it, then I came across your long term Fold 4 review this weekend and thought maybe that would be the better choice especially since you used for so long. But also just today I started watching your Fold 5 review videos as well so now I'm debating lol because of the notable improvements you shared from the 4 to 5. But basically I know I want my next phone to be a folding one and I know whichever one I pick I want to last for a long time. With that being said is the Fold 4 still a viable option in 2024 since it's a bit less expensive or would you say the Fold 5/Open even if it's a bit pricer would be worth having even long term? The z fold 5 is my favorite form factor. Slim enough to sit in my pocket and not be uncomfortable. I would not want it any wider. I do wish it was thinner though. All the talk says they will be making it bigger in the next release. Personally i hate to see this. Currently the perfect balance between slim and big when needed.

I had the pixel fold... I have a z fold 5 , I for the most part actually love the fold. I loved pure android, and my pixel fold was great for the first 6 months ..but as it aged it would randomly drop service , stop charging and reset itself, and get stuck in boot loop. Wish I had gotten the z fold 5 to start..also don't mind the front screen .

I had the Fold 4 and never really took to it. I am sure the Fold 5 is slightly better, but the front display killed me on the Galaxy Fold, and although I got the Pixel Fold and loved that front display, I found that I could not adapt my usage to a foldable and ended up using the outer display 80%+ of the time. I do not need the extra inner size for most of what I do; it adds little as I do not game or multitask, as the screen is still too small for the latter. I have a Tab S8+ and find it infinitely better for media, occasional multitasking and writing, as I can attach a keyboard (essential). So, I suspect that the Pixel will be traded in for the Pixel 9 Pro, and I shall not return it to foldable until they add value, as £1800 is a lot for a bigger display I rarely use. The Fold 4 lasted around a year and performed well apart from creaking when opening. For those that can afford the Fold 5 and have more of a user case other than just a larger display, then enjoy. My Fold 4 lost £1100 in a year, which is another reason to not buy for me: terrible resale values (also likely the Pixel Fold when I trade that in). We do not get great trade-ins like the US, and the demand for secondhand foldables is muted for obvious reasons.

I'm a samsung/s-pen device man, but that one plus, she is looking mighty fine 🤯 What I've been telling Sams to do with the fold since it came out-- _make it wider._ And also make it totally s pen integrated on both screens 🙄 But they keep dragging their feet. It depends what you want out of a phone! For me personally, I'm a Fold guy now haha. The biggest things someone might miss are the battery life and cameras on the Ultra!

I'm a huge Samsung fan that has avoided the Zfold just because of all the reviewers that said the outside display was virtually unusable. Well that and the fact that the Zfold doesn't have the camera versatility of the S ultra. So I rolled with my S22U and an iPhone 14PM until OnePlus dropped the Open. And even though I'm don't particularly like OxygenOS once I saw my first Open review I was sold on it. The thing is after having the OnePlus Open for about a month I absolutely fell in love with the whole foldable experience. The only thing I was missing was OneUI. And because I'm well and truly over iOS I decided to trade my iPhone for the Zfold 5. And after having the Zfold 5 for about a month now and dailying it along with my OnePlus Open I actually prefer the Zfold 5. Mostly because of OneUI if I'm being honest. But also because of the cover display. I mean the Open isn't as bad as my S22U, that phone feels like an absolute handful 😅 But the Zfold is just so nice to type on the cover display with just one hand. Like I said, the OnePlus isn't bad, still better than my S22U but not bad at all. I just find that I prefer the Zfold. Not only do I find the cover display even more comfortable to use but the aspect ratio when opened is better imo. Honestly for me the only thing that the Open really has going for it over the Zfold is the cameras, or more specifically the periscope zoom lens. That and the crease, but I don't really care about the crease. So now I'm probably going to see what kind of trade in value Samsung will give me for the Open towards the S24U. Not really sure I'm ready for the S24U through since rumors have it it's going to be even wider than the S22U. But I'm going to be getting it primarily for the cameras anyway so I guess I can live with it 😅

The fold 5 looks like it's a banger. But for right now I have the fold 3 it just picked up the android 14 6.0 that refreshed all its features and made it so it pretty much does everything the fold 5 does so for my bday jan I decided to stick with it and just upgrade it to 512 gb variant. But maybe the fold 5 will be my next fold after this. And I agree I'm in love with the fold I find it hard going back to a slab as my daily driver. But I do use the s21 ultra as a backup camera wise for my fold 3. They compliment each other perfectly. ❤

I used it for 2 weeks. These phones still have a lot of justification to own. Front screen is awful and inner display is awkward. Now I have small hands but when air worked wireless majority of people end of up returning them or trade them in. These phones are very influencer grade, but if you own one and like it enjoy what you like. Just please get the warranty cause every fold blackens after a year and if it has not for you consider yourself lucky lol

The problem I have with the Fold 5 is 2 fold. The design of that narrow screen makes it virtually impossible to use. Typing on it is extremely hard and I have to open it constantly to type simple messages. Opening a dual screen foldable phone should be an elective choice not a must to get anything done. I open my foldables far less because I don't need to constantly open it I am writing this from the outer screen on my Xiaomi Mix Fold 3. The camera hardware is also virtually the same as it previous years, while others like Oppo/OnePlus, Xiaomi, Vivo etc... are giving you flagship quality cameras, more ram, more storage, plus a case and charger in the box. All for less money! Samsung has just been taking advantage of being the only game in town. You can expect things to change drastically with the Fold 6 now that there's serious competition and they have to earn your dollars.
