I just can't buy a 1000 dollar + phone with super slick beautiful design and hide it inside a bulky ugly case which adds thickness and hides the design features. I'd just as well buy a cheap phone and wear it in a case then, imho. Reaplacing a broken screen is actually not that expensive on those small phone repair shops, you might end up with a weaker third party glass though which breaks more easily, but it adds to the reasoning not to add an ugly case.

It's not so much the height that matters. It's more the angle. I'd like to see a test of 20 random drops from waist height. I think that would be a better controlled test

I think what matters more than the angle is the surface. Tiny rocks can add pressure points and crack more easily compared to a clean surface. I think the s21's front screen cracked at the last drop most likely due to small glass dust and fragments on the floor from when the iPhone's back glass shattered before it

I'm a bus operator for transit. This has happened to me way too many times. Passengers take their phone out and put them in their laps. When I brake for traffic lights they get caught off guard and all you hear is their phone sliding and pin balling down the aisle and slamming into the metal panel right next to my feet. Wow! I have never had the guts to rock any of my Samsung phones without a pretty protective case but have always wanted to since they feel so much thicker with one on.... I may now consider trying one of the carbon slim cases I've seen and maybe add a glass screen protector? 😊
