Since samsung has a option to disable the double swipe to close a App, I would count this one to Samsung. The double swipe is a safety feature to avoid accidentally closing the app and has nothing to do with the phones processor power.

The swipe gesture appears isn't default on S23 Ultra. I have the navigation bar on mine and looking at first time setup videos shows that to be standard. This comparison is with an alternative option enabled that changes the outcome of the speed test.

In Samsung, users can choose the navigation method. So technically you can choose a faster method than the double swiping to the home screen. Also in developer setting users can speed up the animation as they like.

@@Created-byJadon I agree with Mr Phonebuff style, the Galaxy won this battle. The double swipe on the Galaxy can easily be turned off so that you can exit an app by one swipe. You can do this in the settings. Right now I'm very curious which one wins the battery drain tests. I've seen some tests where both phones win from each other..🍿🍿

@@Created-byJadon personally, I don't think someone planning to buy S23 ultra will go to IP 14 pm or vice versa because of 0.11s speed difference... But if I were ever to become rich enough to buy either of them, I would surely go for s23U, as it costs just 80% of ip14 pm (like 70% Max after 2 months) and it is a much more capable phone, and the only phone I would consider to buy for more than $500( INR 40K), AS EVERY OTHER phone does something barely better than the other phones in the lower segments, which is not visible on normal usage) The 10x optical zoom, dex mode and spen along with the boxy (rectangular screen) , of the s23U is a must if I spent more than 40m

I agree. The slower animations held it back from being the new champ. This is a similar case with the note 10 plus vs OnePlus 7t pro where the note was faster than the OnePlus in the first lap, but had slower animations in the second lap (which allowed the OnePlus to make up a bit of ground).

@@DragonOfTheMortalKombat the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max would have pretty much identical performance as the only thing different between the two is the screen size and battery size. Everything else between the Pro and Pro Max is identical. The same can’t be said about the S23 lineup. While they also have the screen and battery size differences between the two like in the case of the iPhone Pro and Pro Max, there are more differences under the skin, such as only the S23 Ultra gets 12 mb of ram vs the 8 mg of ram the S23 and S23+, the fact that only the Ultra gets the 1440p display vs a max of 1080p in the S23/S23+, or that only the Ultra gets the 200mp camera vs the 50mp camera the other two s23s have, and the Ultra is the only one in the S23 lineup to get the periscope zoom lens. There may be more differences but those are the biggest differences that I know of. And while those differences shouldn’t change performance all that much between the S23 lineup it still will affect the performance a bit. And enough that it warrants a test to see how much it does affect the performance between the two

Setting the animations to 0.5 and using Galaxy App Booster to compile all the apps would have easily given the samsung a 20 second lead. The way this test was done seriously nerfed the samsung.

@@TylerN945 Everyone i know that owns a Samsung has animations set to 0.5. Makes the phone feel snappy. Turning them off completely makes the phone feel weird. Compiling the apps also makes the phone a ton faster and should be more well known. Also, if double gestures were turned off or if the nav bar was being used then the Samsung would have a much larger lead. The batter drain test should also include a charge test as the samsung can charge to 100% in 50 minutes. Iphone takes 2 hours with the best available charger.

@@dylanspriddle I charge my iPhone with a 5W charger because I actually keep my phone for 4-5 years lol. Anything higher than a 15W charge is going to chemically age the Li-ion battery and reduce its total capacity over time. Slow charging is much much better for your batteries long-term health. Also your information is incorrect, sort of. The iPhone can accept a 29W charge which brings the battery from 0-100% in just under 1 hour via the lightning port. It would only take 2 hours if you’re using the wireless MagSafe charger which has a max wattage of 15W. Similarly, the S23U has a maximum 15W wireless charger. Now here’s the interesting part, the iPhone 14 Pro Max will charge from 0% to 100% faster than the Galaxy S23U at the same 15 watts because it has a smaller battery capacity. However, because the A16 Bionic is such an efficient processor running with iOS 16, the iPhone 14 Pro is most likely going to have better battery life than the S23U despite it having a 14% smaller battery capacity. It won’t be official until PhoneBuff does the battery drain test, but I’ve already seen the iPhone 14 Pro Max last 20-30min longer than the S23 ultra in other battery drain tests. Longer battery life with a smaller battery capacity is why I like iPhone.

Would navigation buttons on the Galaxy affect this? Seems like kind of an important variable to address, the galaxy loses so much time with the double swipe. I know you have to swipe up for the button menu sometimes when in full screen on apps, but not always. Idk enough about gestures though.

I don't have a double swipe-up to close the app on my S20U. And even on my S23U. Idk how I do it on my S20U since I copied everything thing from gestures to font, photos to command, etc. I literally transferred anything on my S20U to S23U using this feature called quick share. Also, if you want to back or close the comments or step-back, I simply swipe right-to-left if you're using your right hand. Or swipe left-to-right if you're using your left hand.

The double swipe situation on the Galaxy, isn’t just making the Galaxy feels slower, it’s so annoying if you use the phone everyday knowing that you have to double swipe everytime. Luckily it’s just a software fix.

​​@@Turbocharge65 yeah, some of us aren't aged, I fully understand and respect that parents and grandparents need nav buttons. But this isn't 2015. Gestures are by far superior. Especially when considering the amount of screen real estate you get vs using nav buttons. The double swipe thing can be turned off and is intended to prevent accidentally leaving your app or game. It is not an "issue" to be fixed.

From a user perspective opening the apps faster doesn’t mean the phone is faster last year i switch from realme to Samsung Galaxy S20 Fe 5G the snapdragon variant at first the device was ok cameras were good but in long run like using a app or game for more than 40 minutes phone heats up very quickly and apps games start showing legs. This month I switched towards iPhone 14 pro max it also heat up very quickly some time it lower its brightness but i never faced a lag its butter smooth and the ram management is upto the mark 🫡after 6 to 7 year of using android i can say ios is far buttery smooth and way better for gaming but just one thing iPhone does have heating issues but its performance doesn’t get impacted

I’m an iPhone user but I’d say the Galaxy slightly won this due to bein the first android to win the first round vs iPhone, first android phone I’ve ever seen to beat the iPhone on exporting a video (and by a considerable amount too), and bc it just has an extra swipe required to bring up the bar to swipe on to get out in games. Seriously never expected this. Samsung knocked it out of the park with optimizing the performance, internals, and camera this year despite reusing a design again.
