@@whitefata104 the gpu at 300mhz under full load consumes around 2-3 watts however it's at around 80% on average, rest is screen (around 0.5w) and cpu 3-4w a game is meant to run on a gpu and it's much more efficient in doing so otherwise we wouldn't have one and just run everything on the cpu i don't know the actual power limit but it's probably around 10-12w it only uses that much when booting, benchmarks or for very short periods of time (such a launching an app) everything else is limited by the thermals and indeed the a18 pro is much more efficient on the cpu as well

apple has tons of advantages better cpu architecture bcs they have their own custom core designs so they don't have to rely on ARM and just pay more for a license also they manufacture their SoCs on the tsmc N3E node instead of N4P also they don't have to rely on qualcomm for their SoCs which most android phones rely or samsung fabs which have issues with voltage leakage the gpu doesn't even matter as much qualcomm 8 series has higher power efficiency in gfx benchmarks since the last 2 generations which you barely notice in games as it usually operates at the lower frequencies and the funny thing with this test is that they even waste power to stay at 60 fps because no cpu governor can predict task demand perfectly this is why the samsung phone pretty much never hits 60fps yet it still uses more power cooling does matter but apple improved that with the latest generation and is now on par what is sort of weird is how it uses more memory on the android version this usually happens with apps that are written in java(probably kotlin too) that run in JVM for support across multiple architectures while on ios they are native games however usually run natively not that this matters if you don't run into out of memory situations especially not when gaming but it's a good example for how much effort the devs put into optimizing the ios version which already runs the game perfectly instead of optimizing it for lower end devices bcs people that have more money and therefore spend more on the game to buy high end devices maybe this year, but i highly doubt it, the "8 gen 4" which launches as the 8 elite will be a competition with their nuvia (ex apple SoC engineers) designed oryon cores the thing is that the x elite was already inefficient and not much better than intel lunar lake now and even if it finally does perform above subpar it's barely affordable and we'll get very scaled down midrange SoCs (e.g 8sg3 which is barely better than an 8g2 due to cut down cache sizes)

@niveZz- first of all , u dont seem like u know what u are talking about because Qualcomm doesn't fabricate anything they only design chips only Samsung and tsmc fabricate them / manufacture them, and apple does depend on Qualcomm for its modems. They always use Qualcomm modems , a17pro has snapdragon x70 same as 8gen2 and a18pro has x75 same as 8gen3. And there's no custom stuff on that. It just is what it is just like their ram lpddr5x and lpddr5 are the same as on snapdragon chips and Samsung makes them. A18pro is the best chip rn but not for the reasons u are talking about

@@wheelyflac i never said qualcomm designs chips, that would be too expensive for an US company without funding from the government (for example Intel) apple also doesn't fabricate their own chips however samsung does with their exynos series samsung's has issues with voltage leakage which is why their chips are less efficient and why the sd 888 and 8g1 were worse too with the same/newer ARM cores (not the instruction set, but the company behind it) they design their own cores which requires an extra license from ARM instead of qualcomm which used the designs directly from ARM for all the previous generations i know that apple spends a lot of money on qualcomm modems bcs they've been trying to make their own ones not like that matters at all in his gaming tests tho bcs he's using wifi as mentioned the a18 pro is manufactured on the tsmc N3E node while the sd 8g3 is manufactured on the tsmc N4P node which is less efficient for mobile SoCs efficiency also directly indicated sustained performance the peak performance is at up to 12-15 watts on cpu/gpu alone which is obviously unsustainable as the cpu will reach 100 degrees in a few seconds without active cooling (tested it myself on an 8sg3 with removed userspace thermals, at 9w it literally only takes 1s and it throttles or otherwise my cpu would melt lol) also a phone obviously runs off a battery hope that clears up why better efficiency is such a big deal apple designs their own cores and they are doing much better than ARM while i can't explain/know what microarchitectural differences these chips make I do know that they have a higher IPC and better performance/watt than cores designed by ARM also the cache sizes qualcomm uses are usually too small to keep optimal efficiency at the higher clock speeds

I know they’d be more tedious to record, but I think they could provide even more insight about the sustained, long-term performance of these devices. Because most people don’t usually play just ~10 minute sessions for these games. And these wouldn’t need to be versus videos between 2 devices. I think most would be satisfied just to see 1 device per longer video.

Is there something you do to optimize your 16 pro max for gaming? Like changing phone settings, low power mode, gaming mode, that kind of thing. Because every other video I've seen doesn't get such good performance as yours especially with Genshin is the main one I've seen. Not saying you're doing anything shady but this is the first time in my life I'm considering buying an iPhone but I need to make sure I can get this high level of performance. Can't accept anything less for this price so please share tips.

No need to change settings or alter anything. The iPhone 16 Pro Max has great performance right from the bat. There are some other videos showcasing the iPhone running games like Genshin or Wuthering Waves excellently. Last thing I’ll add, only when testing, I rarely play games at max settings. I only play at max settings again when I test. I prioritize battery and low thermals to keep my phone performing well.

Both the Sd 8gen 3 and A18 pro are on par with each other, Apple wins because of outstanding optimization, While Samsung and other Android phones loses because of poor optimization. Sd 8 gen 4 is miles ahead and is a next generation chip that will compete with the A19 pro chipset next year.

Buddy, no ones optimize their game for any OS. It basically what the efficiency and greater CPU/GPU combo makes thing run smoother on Apple devices, basically it happens by default. It’s all about optimization. You can do the same test on Genshin impact with a 2yo base model iPhone 14 and the iPhone will run the game smoother than the brand new Samsung. I just wish apple had a pause usb while gaming like Samsung, it would make the phone even cooler and not ruining the battery. Samsung phone are powerful but instead of adding 200 AI features every update they should work on optimizing their phones, it’s a waste of power at this point. Edit: The fps on Samsung are not only lower but completely unstable which tell that the phone don’t even know how to run the game.

Not possible since Google owns android. Google and their Pixel lineup could reach the closest to optimization as iPhone but they're still 3-4 generations of cpu performance behind. Hopefully next year Tensor G5 with TSMC chip gets major performance upgrades.

The benchmarks and real world results are not the same.. even Nvidia know how to cheat in benchmarks.. yes they just push more power into the chip if the benchmark program detected.. (this is how the 450W TDP 4090 use 618W in benchmarks.. and same for phones, this is how the usually 45-50°C devices reach 55-60°C in benchmarks..) Also optimization is not as easy as you think, Apple have all the key factors in their hands (hardware+software+chip design). Nobody will achieve that with multiple companies (hardware from the random phone manufacturer+software from Google+chip design with Qualcomm), unlike Apple who can do anything with their phone/chip if necessary, others must make some compromises with others to reach any necessary changes.. which is also way slower (just check the Snapdragon X Elite, also a work for multiple companies, and just to copy the existing M1 was required 4 years.. even the M4 from Apple released before the M1 copy...)

My Red Magic 9 Pro runs this game like a dream on all high settings at 60fps on avg ever since WuWa update 1.3 and Red Magic’s latest phone update. I find my Red Magic 9 Pro doesn’t even get hot to the touch anymore and doesn’t go above 33 Celsius.. Before the updates, it would get hot to the touch and phone temps would go up to the early 40’s in Celsius.

SDG2 pulls the same number as the SDG3 it seems. I play WuWa on RedMagic 8S Pro and getting the same avg fps (46-50), everything set to high, but the fps goes up to 55 in eco mode, not sure why. Also setting everything to low doesn't increase the avg fps, its stuck around 50-55. Stable 60 in Genshin though, and the AA just looks so much better in Genshin, could be a game problem.

But if you’re very concerned about gaming and not much else, then just get a gaming phone. Also, the S25 Ultra is coming out 3 months. I don’t recommend getting the S24 Ultra when the S25 Ultra is so close. It should be better than the S24 Ultra.

But in less than 2 years, it was having screen problem (not my fault) and got it fixed by samsung warranty. After several months, I mistakenly dropped it and again, screen problem. For crying out loud s24 ultra is not fully optimised for gaming. if you use a iqoo or oneplus device with same cheap you will find samsung is restricted the power consumption for better battery life ,that's why they have to down clock the performance when it reaches a certain temp like 40 to 42°c.

@johnsonm3563 I disagree as a stocks person I enjoy using the S pen for drawing graphs quickly with precision, I enjoy using the S pen for reading Ebooks or sometimes even using it for my college assignments for economics. It's a neat phone, not the best in gaming but it's good for general use and I'm content with that it's more refined and iphone is still childish. Oh and not to mention samsung uses snapdragon audio for premium headsets like the Bose Quietcomfort Ultra headphones which are amazing when I'm watching movies or when I'm listening to podcasts. Iphone just lacks a lot of refined especially with their watches looking ugly and squared. Samsung watches like the 6 classic makes me feel like a man with higher elegance unlike the squared watch
