I've had this case for less than a year. It offers great protection from drops/falls, but it has terrible dust and water protection. It also doesn't fit screen protectors very well, to the point where i had to modify the front bezel to fit. The kickstand broke in less than a month, so i covered it with HVAC tape. The USB cover also puts a LOT of pressure on the cable, so i had to modify that as well. The pros? It's pretty durable, and has saved my phone numerous times. I've had few issues with wireless charging, no more than i have had with any other brand. It feels nice in my hands, lets me take a more natural posture. If they ditched the kickstand, redesigned the USB plug, and made the bezels just .25-.50mm wider, it would be a solid S-class .

I can't stand how all these companies are being so lazy with the one giant cut out for the cameras. It's so hard now finding a good rugged case with individual camera cut outs.
@MobileTested11 ай бұрын
To be honest, I haven't seen too many (or any actually) companies produce cases with individual lense cutouts. I have seen companies include essentially a lense cover in the past. Anecdotally, I have used this larger camera cutout style case for years and have had a relatively good experience with my cameras and the lenses never being damaged. Did you have any other particular cases in mind that offered the type of protection you are looking for?
@wilazn11 ай бұрын
@@MobileTested so far the only rugged cases I've found with the individual cut outs are the Magbak and the dbrand grip. My problem with the giant cut out is dirt and dust accumulating inside that area and it's hard to clean. Also it getting inside the case causing micro scratched between the case and back of the phone. I'm a big fan of supcase here also and used their cases in the past but the giant cut out for the Samsung ultra phones stopped me from using them.

On the Supcase UB's, yes, there is generally no camera door element. I've seen some nicer magnetic doors that I've liked on other cases but I've seen some that are not implemented well. I'm torn on the camera doors, I don't know how durable they are long term of you're tough on your phone but, they are obviously a protective barrier and they should as another person pointed out, help keep the lenses and lense area cleaner for longer. I'm actually considering trying to come up with a test methodology for testing these camera doors since many people seem to be interested in them. I'm curious though, have you ever sustained camera or lense damage with a case like this? If so, what phone/case combo was it?

For your like of work, a tempered glass screen protector might not be a bad idea protection wise but it will increase the difficulty for fingerprint unlock (likely) especially if your hands aren't clean. I would at least use a plastic material if this matters but if your main goal is just protecting the screen, a solid 9H rated tempered glass screen protector is the way to go.

I used to love this case till I found out the hard plastic piece actually damages your phone when you drop it. Think about it. It’s hard plastic, it’s not like it’s soft rubber. Even the outer part with the rubber it’s thin rubber. Nothing thick or soft about it so there’s nothing on this case to soften the impact your phone takes when dropped
@MobileTested10 ай бұрын
Do you mean that the plastic backing damaged the gorilla glass? I'm not saying I don't believe you but I find that hard to imagine - anecdotally I have dropped multiple Smartphones in Supcase UB Pro cases with this design and have not experienced that. I would say that the backing if these cases are thick compared to most other cases but I would agree, they aren't soft on the inside - I have seen some companies implement a felt material on the inside of the case. As for the impact, that depends on how the phone calls I would think, the sides, top, bottom, and the corners are relatively well protected because of the TPU bumper. What kind of case are you using currently?
@LilGrimey5Star10 ай бұрын
@@MobileTested no, not the back, the front and back were fine. Im talking about the first piece you put on the phone, the front hard plastic piece that grips around the phone. When I would drop my Galaxy of especially my iPhone I would get scratched from the piece that was gripping the phone. Now I currently use the Spigen tough armor because it’s all rubber. There’s no hard plastic on it except on the outside part of the case. And I love how it has the soft cushion inside the case for padded protection. I do miss Supcase but the closest case I’ve seen they have that doesn’t have a hard plastic piece holding the phone is the XT case with the camera cover/stand.

@@LilGrimey5StarI am rocking case for the S7 (no joke, that's how well it's protected my phone of 8 years! I only had to replace the case once when it fell 20 feet down a loft and then bounced around on furniture -literally bounced all over an heirloom piece that we painted to update it and neither the case nor the furniture had any scratches, chips or marks (aside from the cracking of case corner where it meets the screen. (It also once rolled down a gravel street on it's edge like it was doing cartwheels, no damage... I'm not sure why it did cartwheels instead of just falling flat). But other than that it hasn't cracked no matter how many times it's dropped, and imho 8 years (5 years before the great drop) and that my S7 is whole, aside from camera and battery life, I would say it's plastic or overall build is working well. It's the same model I have on my macbook actually. Finally upgrading my phone (because of the battery issue) and figured I'd just get the new case but I am worried about that fingerprint thing being annoying. I wish they had just a regular front case like older models available.

@@screamtoasigh9984 you keep talking about the case and mentioned your furniture was undamaged yet you mentioned nothing about the phone. Yeah you said the phone hasn’t cracked but that’s it. Let me tell you first I love this case. I just wish it was made with soft rubber on the inside where the phone is held and the hard plastic outside. Not hard plastic inside out. I like to remove my cases to clean them up daily. I remove my cases to switch them with battery cases and charge up while I’m on the go. So I constantly remove my cases on and off. With my experience having this case for my S6, S7 Edge, Note 8, iPhone SE, iPhone XR, iPhone SE2020. Every single phone ended up getting scratched and scuffs. I’ve never had a broken phone in my life and I don’t get how people break their screens because that’s hard to do. The tightness of the first piece of plastic that holds onto the phone itself is literally what scratches the phones and the paint off when removing the case and putting it back on. Think about where a helmet. Do you want an all plastic helmet that has plastic holding onto your head? No, helmets are made with a soft inside to cushion impact and a hard plastic outside to withstand crushing impact. Cars are hard on the outside. Metal, aluminum, plastic. But on the inside you have soft seats instead of hard seats. I really wish this would be something supcase things about.
