I feel like being a long time android user, a test like this shows them equal - but once you get all your apps and things downloaded and logged in, the androids seem to hog soooo much more battery. My Pixel 8 will lose 15% overnight and the old iphone 13 mini I have will drop 1-2%. I wish android could get it figured out, iphone is missing too many features that have been on android for ages.

It's a myth in 2024 that variable 120Hz consumes more battery. "Lover of tech" did a test on 60hz -v- 120Hz (LTPO 3), and the LTPO, in some instances, had better battery life.

That’s true but you gotta remember it all depends what you’re doing as well. If you’re watching videos the 120hz will be better cuz it’ll go as low as 1hz. If you’re doing basic stuff the 60hz will be better. Usage is key

Tbh in my opinion for battery concerns I prefer android over iphone cause what's the use for being the most efficient in battery usage despite having the smallest battery capacity but the charging speed on iphones are really slow even it was 20watts as advertised it was really slow unlike other phones and the s24 just took 1hr of charging, not the fastest but still better

I would go with the s24 just because of the 120hz screen against the iPhone’s 60hz. Also the iPhone 15 has an older A16 chip. I’d go with the Samsung.

Brand new batteries have lower capacity, they need ~10-15 charge cycles to get to optimal capacity (you might get an extra hour)

@@venimus777 Yes they are. Look at battery manufacturers and you'll see what they do. The batteries don't need to be broken in, as they already do that before leaving the factory, they have to also test the batteries anyway. It used to be a thing when you get a new phone like 20 years ago to charge it to 100%, then let it go to 0%, then change it back up to 100%, and repeat that a bunch of time in the first two weeks or whatever. But even back then it was practically a rumor. Break in is only required for old nickel or zinc batteries. Only thing that might need to be "broken in" is the battery controller chip that measures battery charge and health, since it needs to learn how your battery operates. Modern phone battery controllers also usually slow down charging past 80% and try to keep the battery above 20%, so you can't even break them in properly anymore when they're inside the phone. The only time you might wanna think about breaking in a battery is for chinese quadcopter batteries or things like that. You're just bringing 2000s misinformation back.

Refresh rate and screen resolution has nothing to do with power consumption, it is just us the users that created those ideas and make it look as if it is true, while is reality, the opposite is the case. A 60hz display consumes more battery than the 120 which can go all the way down to just 1hz. I’ve watched many videos and the 60hz displays are always the first to diè. Including 24 ultra Vs s24 ultra one on 60hz the other on 120hz also the iphone 15 pro max as well

I've had both for many years. iPhone is hard to go wrong with but they have some restrictions that may or may not affect you. If you're all-in and have all Apple stuff, may as well use iPhone. If you have mixed environments like me, I do like Galaxy phones (and I like them more than Google Pixels). The Windows integration is the best with Samsung using the Phone Link app, you're free to choose any digital assistant you want (I use Alexa, and iPhone you're forced to use theirs), you can't just delete all photos that you sent in text messages with iPhone.. they make you delete them one by one... so that gets old fast. But iPhone build quality and overall support is tops. Though I don't have an S24 so I can't speak to that phone specifically. For me, I loved the older smaller iPhones. The iPhone 13 Mini was the last iPhone I loved. So I'm getting an S24 to give SSG another try. I did like my old Galaxy phones. I think it comes down to if you're all-Apple as a user or not. If not, S24 may be the way to go.
