Power safe mode = S7 because i get same time/score but afther disabling power sve i got more scores. in Battery test u use Power save on whit S8, i was using power save S7 edge and i got 1hour more than S8 in this test

Very good review of both devices. This is the review some people really want to see and need to see before buying. Even if the s8 is the better device, I will upgrade my s5 to the s7 edge (blue one) just because the infinty display size (2/1 or 18/9), fingerprintscanner placement and "no home button" of the s8 don't do it for me. (Price doesn't matter). Keep up your good work. Clicked the subscripe button ;-) (btw english not my first or second language)

That battery test was not the best. Playing KZbin is almost zero stress on the battery. The S7 is averaging 5 to 5.5 hours screen use and that's from multiple KZbinrs. I personally have the S8 and struggle to hit 4 hours of screen use. Hell I have a old Alcetel Idol 4 that could get 10 hours of KZbin.

The S8 comes with more efficient display cpu, gpu, and smaller screen. With that said the s7 was a year old at that point of the review. But I did feel the s7 would only outperform the s8 in endurance tasks if they were prolonged and did not allow the s8 to use any if it's more updated instruction sets.

Great in depth review! However, over a year ago, i myself did a battery test between a brand new s8 and a brand new s7 edge, using a you tube video, and the edge was lasting a tad bit longer than the s8.. I think the s7 edge you used, had a degraded battery..

my galaxy s7 is the best there is the best there was and the best there ever will be. the galaxy s8 got flows first the fingerprint scanner is next to the camara then is way taller and skinny with and 18:9 ratio that is a bummer and is also curved that is whack and also the bixby button that is whack to take that to the bank.

Did you count in your battery test your phone age?, battery worsens over the use and if you do not have brand new s7 the battery wont be as good as it should.

+yahya bora If it's about battery life then the s8 will generally out perform due to being more efficient. If you plan on keeping the phone for more than 2 yrs then definitely get the s8 due to the longer battery life span, as most phones will drop off a cliff in terms of battery run time. Thanks!

+Ludoviko Peluche it's not all about battery size....it's possible because cpu optimizations allow for more and more specialized instructions that make sense for mobile devices. The display in the s8 is also probably more efficient. But if you start doing more brute force operations that use general instruction sets then you'll probably see the bigger battery in the s7 win out.

MobileStuffReview I know the newer CPU are built are 10nm rather than 14nm but who knows. I like that s8 is thinner and easier to hold in one hand. S7 also got nougat update and now also has improved optimization options. Like for example scaling down screen to 1080 or even 720.
