Great video! Just picked up my S9 plus the other day and went through all 10 things you mentioned, however was having an issue with the edge lighting, even when I have it set to Always On it doesn't light up when the screen is off. Any troubleshooting tips? TIA! :)

Thanks Jeff, I just purchased two (T-Mobile bogo promotion) S9 Plus and personally I like the Lifeproof Fre phone cases with all of its environmental preventive and protective characteristics. I've been using their cases since owning Samsungs S5/S6/S7 models. So for me, Lifeproof is the best phone condom..

I don't understand the point of the facial and iris recognition because you have to press the power button to use it. You might as well use the fingerprint. Why use a 2 step process when you can do it once

Yeah, I highly prefer fingerprint, but there are a lot of iris evangelists out there.

It's not that big of a deal to press the power button or home button to wake the screen. Although it would be nice for Samsung to implement a 'raise to wake' feature like other OEMs so the phone knows when to start scanning without hitting either of the buttons, it would be more intuitive for intelligent scan. None the less it's not a hassle to press the power or home button.

In my job I have a lot of times where the fingerprint scan doesn't work, I agree in most cases it would be enough but for my the iris scan will be the way to go.

First things I did, turn off always on display, make apps 4×5 instead of 5×5. Make display zoom about half. Add slight blue light filter to make screen better to look at. Cool wallpaper. Fingerprint scan my fingers I use to unlock. Best things to start

I have an s9+ and love it. Sadly having a case on it hides the colour of it. I love coral blue and in the case you cannot get the loveliness of it but We need cases to protect it.

I'm my opinion the clear back lifeproof cases are the best for that. They are as protective as the defensive otterbox but they are about $20 more. They have colored bumpers and they are dust proof, waterproof (even though this phone already has this feature for up to 20ft for 30 min) and it is snow proof. You can find these at best buy and amazon I dont know where else you can find them but that's where I find them.

Thank you for all the great tips. I just upgraded from my S5 to the S9+. An early Mother's Day present to me from me. I'm more curious on how you did your checklist. Is that an included app? I'm not very tech savvy. So many features, it's intimidating. I haven't shown my phone to anyone. I'm like an overprotective parent. No. You can't hold my baby, you might drop her! Shes expensive. And no touching either. Also, it's so dang big, pockets are not made to fit these phones. How and where do you keep or carry it? I'm thinking fanny packs.

It is a big change. I switched in 2005 and haven't looked back since. I will say that the Google Pixel 2 is a great phone for newbies. I am waiting on the Pixel 3 but have the Note 8 now. I realized why I am not a fan of Samsung phones...they use so much bloat and their phone app uses the contacts app to make calls. But great phones regardless.

I think there is something wrong with the edge light. On my Galaxy S8 when I put the edge light color for this specific app It would actually go to that color. On this phone you have to do it manually and for me it's not even working. It still does the basic color.

Thank you Jeff, I just picked up the S9+ & I love it. I took care of most of the top 10, but you do 3 things I really like for further customization. I have a totally random question, and it's actually about random pausing while using music services. I had this happen on my S8, and now the same thing on the S9+. Right in the middle of music, whether it is through a service like Google Play Music, Spotify, etc...the playback just randomly pauses. I thought it was S8 related, but now it is happening on the S9+. Have you ever had this happen?

I reprogrammed my Bixby button on my s9+ so it uses Google assistant instead, alot of my house can be voice controlled with Google home so the assistant helps.

In my left hand is my S7 edge(paid off) and right hand is the s9+ ($1000)..... look kept looking looked left looked right put the S9+ down and left Verizon. Maybe next year Samsung, but not now.
