The S6 Lite is kind of legendary in that for around $250 (deals several times a year) you could get a fairly capable tab with a pen. It served as the first foray into android tablets for thousands of people, me included. It's combination of great value and functionality will be hard to replace until the S9fe starts to regularly be available for $300-350. I've moved on to even better Galaxy tabs twice since I bought the S6 Lite in 2020 and currently have a Tab S9 that I love but it's all because I started with the S6 Lite. Ivan's advice and reviews have been a big part of that journey. Thanks, man!

I appreciate the head-to-head comparison. Very helpful. The wrinkle in choosing is that Samsung is notorious for precipitous price drops within a year of release. At this point in time, the S9 FE is approximately double the price of the S6 Lite. That is a significant difference compared to the hardware differences between the two. This time next year, the S9 FE will be between $100-150 lower in price. If I had to choose now, I'd get the S6 Lite, but if I could wait, then I'd go for the S9 FE.

The Android tablet market definitely became much more diverse and interesting in 2023, with OnePlus new entry the OnePlus Pad, and Google coming back to the competition with the Pixel Tablet. Maybe the competition will be good for customers who are looking for better deals.

I got my s6lite in 2020 and I mainly use it for art apps (the krita beta mostly) and it is starting to see itself start slowing down after 4, almost 4 years of constant use and the limitations are starting to show its head. The RAM (only 4gb) i didn't think would become an issue, but now its really started to begin slowing down with my use case. In 2024 (almost 2025) its definitely starting to get long in the tooth and the fact its still going as well as it is (even though the poor thing is now struggling to open my art apps due to the aforementioned limied available RAM) is amazing. I've gotten a fair bit more use out of it than i ever thought i would even back when i got it it was touted as a really budget tablet and not super serious. I will say, i hate the sPen that came with the tablet and i will suggest for both of these to upgrade to another stylus, i personally use a steadler Norris digital jumbo coz it looks like a pencil and i think thats really funny, but as well as this, it had an eraser nub which is super useful for art apps.

I was in the same situation with my S6 lite 2020. After seeing a lot of reviews, I went for the S9 FE is the perfect device for watching videos or series, social media, emails, Google and multitasking. If you are a gamer or content creator maybe you need the flagship model otherwise you won't miss a lot by getting the S9 FE.

I just ordered the Tab S6 Lite 128gb in blue. I have the Tab S8 as my daily for the past ye a r. Something about the Tab s6 lite I have always liked. Maybe it's 10.4 much easier to handle in one hand. I just hope I'll be okay with it's overall performance being that I'm so used to the Tab s8. I wanted to let those who may have read my post about the Tab S9 FE lagging severely on me whilst I was writing upon my first receiving it which I totally jumped the gun about it I do believe. What I have come to realize since then is that my new S9 FE still had a massive amount of processing still ongoing in the background that I thought at the time was already complete and so I was wrong and I wanted to clarify that I was and that Ivan is absolutely 100 percent irrefutably correct that the Tab S9 FE is superior than the Tab S6 Lite 2022 and I can stand firmly behind that as I currently at the moment have both Tabs that I have since extensively used first hand and have directly compared head to head. Indeed it was that I had not given the S9 FE adequate time to complete all the data that it was currently at the time when it truly lagged so badly that I simply was unable to type on it. I was wrong! The S9 FE is now after the initial set up and huge amount of data and apps that was still in the process of downloading made the FE unusable and as such I thought it was because of the Exynos 1380 being very slow. To conclude, I did find that the FE is not a Flagship and that it’s very capable but note that if you throw a ton at it all at one time that you very well may encounter some lagging but I emphasize A LOT at one time that it will then show that it is in fact a upper mid range tablet. I just simply didn’t give it time to finish up. I didn’t pick it back up until today as I was convinced that it would be going back to Samsung. My Tab S6 lite 2022 will be heading back to Samsung now as the FE is 100 percent a better all around tablet and especially with the 90hrtz refresh rate and a far more vibrant brighter screen. I just wished the FE was the same smaller size as the Tab S6 lite is. I now will essentially have two identically same size tablets. The Tab S8 and the Tab S9 FE. I actually think or from what I have seen that the FE has a tad brighter screen than the S8 to be honest. I’m hoping at some point I can catch a Samsung deal and upgrade to the S8 ultra or S9 ultra. Media consumption on those two 14.6 inch displays and being OLED must be an incredible viewing experience but they are indeed expensive. My apologies to those if any read my post that was incorrect. I still love the Tab S6 lite 2022 but there is no mistaken the jump from 60hrtz to 90hrtz as it is literally a night and day user experience. I don’t see much difference between 90hrtz and 120hrtz but once you experience at least 90hrtz you never will enjoy the 60hrtz the same ever again. Happy Holidays Thanks Ivan for the great content!

I have an S8U , an S7FE and an S6 Lite 22. My question is should I trade my S7 FE for the s9FE+? My issue is there is not enough improvement in the Exynos 1380 vs the SN 778. The only marked improvement is the fingerprint scanner. That helps, but not enough for an upgrade IMHO

Hey thanks for the video, its just what i needed. I am looking for a tablet that i can use for college. I will mainly use it to take notes, wirte on PDF and maybe draw some stuff. From what i have a read the S6 Lite should be good for that, but recently i have seen more vids praising the S9 FE. Do you think the S6 lite would be more that enough for what i have listed, or does the S9 FE have newer feauteres that would help me even more?

Get the s 9 fe. It will be supported longer and it's not much bigger than the s6 lite. Unless you have a color you want that the FE doesn't have say like the Angora blue or Chiffon pink, I understand. I just upgraded my 6 lite. The 9 FE is faster so notes won't lag. ❤

Just purchased S6 Lite from best buy today for $199.99. Sales ends Sunday Nov 13 The 2022 version will eventually update to android 15 with 3 years of security updates. Hope this helps.

If money is not an issue, go for the S9FE - it’s going to be more than enough and will be supported longer. If you have a set budget however, go S6 Lite because it will be just about enough - and don’t pay more than 200 for it.

Iwant to get th s6 lit as it has the headphe jack and can get it at a good price but i have read the 2022 s6 lite has screen bleed issuses and samsung state on their website it is normal and it 's not therfore they won't repair or replace it. All my other samsung tabs and the 2016 tab a i have now has no issues.

I had the s6 lite, and I'd say it's perfect fine, don't listen to other people who says it's bad so don't get it, it's almost very value for it's price, for a large screen like this with a pen, it's super worth it, the performance might a big deal, but if you're only using for basic function and watching movies/videos, it totally works well!

You missed most important distinction: s6 Lite DOES NOT support palm-swipe screenshot due to "hardware limitations". For anyone who needs to do screen captures for any purpose, this alone makes the S6 Lite not a good option.

No becouse a tablet is a smartphone without the phone. Nice to watch a movie on. But I use a laptop for most things and my samsung s23 ultra for most internet searches kinda leaving a tablet witch is a s6 lite to watching videos. My laptop plays games types papers and almost anything else better that it's not easily hauled around. If you want to try android a a8 or a a7 lite would work well. My s23 ultra came with a much better s pen and it slides into the phone.

I have a s6 lite and we'll I just watch movies on it. Hate to say laptops are better for most everything else, games typing, spreadsheets can say its better for drawing but you can get an external pad or a touch screen. I'm sure that my i7 64 gigs of ram gtx 3080 144hrz 8 tb of storage can be matched by any tablet. But tablets have their place.

Hearing that using the stylus feels like using actual paper makes me wonder how much attention I should pay to anything else said. It just doesn't. Glass and paper are too different.
