I have the Galaxy watch and to me it is much better looking then the Galaxy watch 3. I like a big watch since I where the Breitling Super Chrono avenger it has a luxury look to it when you add a stainless steel bezel and band. The Galaxy 3 doesn't . In my honest opinion I am glad I have the 1st Galaxy watch. I am also going to be switching back the the iPhone once the 12 max pro comes out so no need to worry about then new one. I have the Samsung Galaxy S20 ultra. I had the S10 that I upgraded from the iPhone 7plus. Samsung is a nice phone but apple is better with software updates and the eco system is by far superior.

It is crazy to hear what a little watch has in it. My first desktop computer in 1996 had a 50 MHz processor speed and a 1 GB of Hard Disc space. The Ram had to be very small. @@goonerlegend1504 It can happen on flash deals or event like black friday. Though I admit I exaggerated when I said a few month to find it at half the price, certainly his price will drop but not half, will took probably at least one year for that. Also you mention the first gen galaxy watch, two years ago the market was not the same, today there are way more options from different brands, Samsung can't take it easy as back then, they need to cut prices quick to stay competitive, actually I think smartwatch will follow the trend of smartphones, which means price drop very quick in a market where competition is rude. Also let's be honest about this smartwatch, it is really overpriced for three main reasons 1) it use the exact same chipset of the first gen galaxy watch released two years go. 2) It has the exact same screen too 3) It actually has less battery than the first watch... So when you can find the og galaxy watch around 200$ and below easily today, that has almost the same tech and with more battery, how come Samsung can sell this to 460$ ? Aren't they putting a big margin here ?

Really good comparison video. I think Sammy missed an opportunity here though. It is essentially the GW1, with some incremental changes. If you like Tizen over the WearOS watches, the GW1 is a plenty capable watch still to this day. Sammy should also invest more into their OS. It needs a major update, perhaps with more usuable built-in apps since the Tizen appstore has little or no useful 3rd party apps. This is one of the more stranger upgrades to me, especially after 2yrs. Probably worth it when it drops 20% by the holidays.

I think they nailed the aesthetic finally, but the Fossil Gen 5 also kind of looks similar, so if Fossil releases a Gen 6 at a lower price point, I think that could be bad news for Galaxy Watch 3 sales

@@MikeOBrienMedia Agree looks good, but I actually like the bulkier GW1 better - I had the 46mm GW1 for about 2 weeks, but again, the appstore was horrible - it's like having a Ferrari that you can only drive on mud roads. Not to get too off topic but I when I got rid of the GW1, I picked up the WearOS TicWatch Pro 2020 and never looked back. Really well made, great battery and has tons of very good apps in the Google Playstore. WearOS in general is better than Tizen OS for me. The Fossil 6 should be very successful because of it, on top of the hardware.

As far as comparing the speaker quality, just comparing the two at max volume is not adequate, because the max volumes may be different. For example, the 1 distorts at max volume more than the 3. But what if it's actually louder than the 3, and by turning down the volume of the 1, you could get sound that is as loud as and sounds as good as the 3? I'm not saying this is the case. I'm just saying it's worth making such a comparison.
@jonquirk95823 жыл бұрын
I ended up going with the original galaxy watch, the massive price increase, and smaller battery made the watch 3 a no go for me, i care about function over looking pretty, and to me, the original watch being able to last twice as long with certain settings as the new watch that costs twice as much was a deal breaker, it being lighter and with certain better features is irrelevant to me if the thing is always on the charger. Also, the 3 doesn't come in midnight black for whatever reason, i think that was a huge fail on samsungs part. Great video.
@tusharban4 жыл бұрын
Good one!! Very practical comparison. You kept it simple, precise and yet covered every aspect. My view, I will still prefer the bigger battery especially when there is not a very major difference between the two. I have lived in fear with a smaller battery on my watch and I know how it feels. A gun is useless without the bullets and a smartwatch is without enough power. Talking about being future proof, for me a bigger battery has a better future if there is no major differences really. The space and RAM is sufficient on the original GW, after all its a watch, just an extension to your phone. Better to spend on a phone with more memory, bigger RAM and yes, lets not forget the battery here as well :)

On battery life, I had Galaxy Watch and now have 44mm Stainless Steel Watch Active 2 with the same battery size as the new GW3, and battery life is really about the same for me personally. Nah, I’ve got an Active 2 last year with the promise of ECG coming later that year and a native twitter and youtube app ( among other things) was advertised too. We have got none of it. I stoped using Samsung and went over to Apple because of it, after being a samsung fan boy for at least last 10 years or so. Now Samsung does the same thing all over again?? It looks like Samsung really wants to get rid of us, their life long customers. The new watch looks pretty good though

Thank you for the comparison video. It helps a lot with the decision to purchase the original galaxy watch, reason mainly due to the battery life (and the looks to me is more attractive personally). Besides, Samsung is giving discount for the watch in my country and is half of the price of the galaxy watch 3

The sound problem of Bixby seems a pretty bad bug to me or Bixby uses other speakers. The bad quality I only noticed with Bixby. The voice sounds from voice assistents in training programs for example doesn't sound as bad as Bixby voice. Sorry if this was already mentioned.

This answers my questions on your 2 previous videos. My Gear S3 Frontier is still the perfect watch for my needs. I just need to text, check emails, phone calls, get weather and package tracking updates Etc... (I don't use any of the fitness features) without constantly taking out my phone. Plus, neither of those watches support MST payment support like my Gear. And since my watch is still in nearly flawless condition and goes at least 2 full days on a single charge, I'll pass on these. But hey, to each his own. Different people have different needs from their tech. Great Video!

I love the healbe tech on how they cracked to be able to measure calorie intake. Lot of people called it hoax but I tried and tested and it just works. You know Mike, the one thing that really has me a bit upset was the promise of EKG and fall detection support from Samaung for the Active 2. I'm a bit undecided. Re the Buds+ vs Live, I'm going with Buds+ due to better battery and option for pass through sound. Watch is tougher. Better battery on Watch 1 doesn't bug me since I charge every night (like cell phone). Like the better speaker and better health sensors. But $170 more ?? Plus, I just like the chrome vs black look of the Watch 1 better than the pure black look of the Watch 3. Hmmm ...
@bakstabbath4 жыл бұрын
I ordered the 45mm black, stainless, BT version of the Watch 3 directly from Samsung. Another positive talking point is that Samsung gives a pretty good trade-in deal for previous watches. I think it was like $150 for your old Samsung or Apple watch towards the new one. My last smart watch was the Moto 360, so it's been awhile since I've been interested in one. The Galaxy Watch 3 seems to tick most of the boxes. Nice reviews and comparisons 👍👍

I've tried two different brands of smartwatch and don't think I'll do so again. Fortunately I got them when it was warm as I'm one of those people who can sit in the shade not doing anything and work up a sweat. One lasted almost a month and the other just under two months before giving up the ghost. I've always taken off my watches around water, even waterproof ones, but these I don't think could handle my sweating. I believe I'll just stick to Timex. I had an Ironman which I bought around 1990 that was on its fifth battery when it finally died. Their batteries last about five years by the way.

They are currently running a decent deal where you can trade in your GW for $160 (new they are down to $180-$190) and they are also giving a $100 instant rebate. My original GW is starting to get slow er and slower and I figured if I wait it wont be worth anything so why not upgrade while I can still get something for it.

Being a person who used the original Galaxy Watch I really loved it. The best looking smartwatch in my opinion. I would really love to buy a second hand one now since I had to sell of my first one, so my question is that will it be worth buying the Galaxy watch in this time and age when there has been so many different upgraded models? My main usage would simply be receiving notification alerts, sending texts, and controlling my phone music with the added feature of having songs loaded in my built in storage of the watch. Would an old model like the original Galaxy watch be able to serve my purpose??? Mainly asking because I don't want to face any possible lag in my UI.
@roadle112234 жыл бұрын
I don't know why, but I just hate something about how the 3 looks. It doesn't look premium from far like some of the Fossils but it doesn't have a sport look either. Something about it made me immediately lose interest regardless of price. The worst battery is also a big red flag.

Same! I don't like the buttons, and it seems less able to perform as my daily driver, since I don't want to be two different watches...one for working out and one for the office. Also...really...less battery life? Maybe I need to look at a Garmin.

I have a flawless black Gear S3 Frontier with a black stainless steel mesh band and black diamond cut bezel ring, totally unique. Samsung offered me $200.00 trade in for it plus a cyber Monday discount bringing the Watch 3 LTE down to just $219.00 plus tax. I decided to give it a try... After setting it all up (keep in mind that I don't use any of the fitness functions, I use my watch for phone calls, text messages, checking emails, getting weather and package alerts and Samsung Pay for super fast checkout) their was absolutely no different in the user interface. All the apps I use daily were the same and looked exactly the same. The Watch 3 felt lighter and cheaper (despite being nearly $500.00 retail). Even though the Watch 3 was brand new my Gear has longer battery life. But the last straw for me was when I stopped into the convenience store that I use daily on the way to work and Samsung Pay would not work. Turns out the stores card readers are old school and don't support NFC payments and the Watch 3 DOES NOT support MST payments. So, on day 2... The Watch 3... went back to Samsung and the Gear S3 Frontier went BACK ON MY WRIST.

I've used this watch now for 3 days. I didn't even charge it to 100%. Just 72%. On average so far it eats up around 20% battery per day for me. I check emails, texts and use the voice text to send messages often. Still early I know but not bad in my book. At this rate I'll only have to charge it once every 4 days or so. Maybe 3 with heavy use.
