I really wish Wear OS had the option to set profiles that can be activated manually as well as on a schedule, perhaps even by location as well (ie turn on NFC every time I go to the grocery store, mall, etc). My schedule is pretty stable thru the week, and would be amazing if I could program the schedule to turn off AOD, WiFi, etc from 5:30-6:30 drive to the city where my gym and work are; have auto detect exercises on from 6:30-7:30 during workout, then everything off again until 8:00am when I start my workday with everything ON (AOD, auto WiFi, NFC) so looks impressive and ready the instant i might need it. Then AOD, NFC, WiFi OFF for hour commute home, and then AOD & NFC stay off at home, and sleep mode kicks in at 11:00pm. Weekends would have as different auto schedule. Easy swipe down to activate anything I might need. Say NFC for a quick trip to the store, but I think the Auto schedule would be useful to many and save a lot of battery. Fossil had a profile option, but iirc the user had to activate manually, and the battery life was so poor on it than it didn’t last long enough to matter (my Gen 5 Carlylse was lucky to make it thru an 8 hour workday before low battery warning or outright dying - my Watch 4 Classic 46mm has been AMAZING lasting a full day and then some even with AOD always on, on weekends if I’m staying in can make it close to day and half, again with AOD on! Has been so good thatn I haven’t even bothered trying it with the AOD off, even tho I feel wasteful and am curious how long it would go with AOD off as well as a combination of On & Off. If there is a scheduled profile app or feature I’m unaware of, please let me know, and if not I think would be a great option for Google to develop and include w every Watch and phone for that matter! :-)

Interesting stuff. I think Samsung could improve Bixby Routines and make some of the functionality that you describe. Unfortunately all it can do now is change the watch face.

There is probably automation apps on the play store for wear os, I know of Macrodroid because I use it on my phone and IFTTT (though I haven't tried this one). They are probably a bit of a hassle to configure but it may be useful if you really want to automate your schedule. Hope this helps!

Hi, great video! I did some battery tests on my Galaxy 5 pro lte. Scenario 1: Minimal settings + AOD 1. Default Watch face (as delivered) 2. Always on display (AOD) 3. Brightness set to less than 50% 4. Arm gesture to activate display 5. Everything else set to OFF This resulted in 30% battery loss in 24 hrs. Estimated 100% loss in 3.3 days. Scenario 2: Scenario 1 settings plus the following: 1. Wifi on 2. Data (LTE function) on 3. Bluetooth on 4. Location on Gives 37% battery loss in 24 hrs. Estimated 100% loss in 2.7 days. Scenario 3: Scenario 2 but with AOD off. Gives 28% battery loss in 24 hrs. Estimated 100% loss in 3.6 days. Between Scenario 2 and 3, the AOD uses 25% battery life. By controlling setting variables like above we can make better real world estimates of battery life. If I set notifications on and made use of any health functionality then battery life would be WAY LESS than the best case Scenario of 3.6 days.

I have an S3 Frontier (Classic). I tried the Watch4 46 Classic, and didn't find any real reason to upgrade. The EKG and Blood pressure are only gimmiks, GPS is mediocre and all of these and the Samsung Pay require a Samsung Galaxy Phone (or side load some custom Samsung Health modules on both the phone and the watch), the battery is in no way better, even after 4 years of S3 usage so I don't expect for the upgrade to the Watch5 (Pro or not) to worth the money. If you totally want it, just get the Watch4 at less than half the Watch5 price and with exactly the same hardware (and the rotating bezel).

I returned my 46mm 4 classic September last year due to the pathetic battery and just went back to my original galaxy watch instead as it got a 4-5 day battery life. I was waiting for the 5 to upgrade, but due to the pathetic design, no bezel and hideous black finger bezel that could have been screen real estate, seems like i have to go and get the 4 classic again instead. Can't believe they downgraded the watch so much, slapped a "pro" on it and put the price upto $800(Australian). 4 classic 46mm is now $400 and will definitely drop down to $300 soon as the 5 hits shelves, so i guess i'll have to sacrifice abit of battery for the same exact software plus a rotating bezel and $500 off.

I predict the rotating bezel will be back. Too many people are upset it was removed as witnessed by all the posts! Given the regular GW5’s have increased battery sizes in the same size case as last year’s GW4’s, there’s no reason they can’t increase the battery size in the Classic 4 body (the 44mm went from 361mAh to 410mAh; so presumably we could get at least the same bump in the Classic, possibly even more depending on how much more battery tech improves by the time they’d do it!), add the Sapphire crystal upgrade and maybe even did the IR Temp sensor (not that its doing much of anything right at the moment!), and there you have a GW 5 Classic! The same hardware updates that the other GW 4’s received to be called the 5’s. The software update to Wear OS 3.5 and One UI 4.0 is already on its way for the 4’s but that would be another included change. Unless the Classic just sold horribly then I cannot understand why Samsung killed their most unique and widely loved feature (those odd folks who post that say things like “I’m glad its gone, I hated it” make no sense as they had a non-bezel option to buy if the really hated the bezel, why insist other people must be deprived of the model they liked? To each his/her own people, let everyone be happy! Sound more like paid shills or trolls!). And if Samsung is really done with the rotating bezel then at least let other companies make watches with it (Mobvoi, would you FINALLY add a hardware nav option then?). But would rather Samsung do it so they have the option that will make every buyer happy ensuring the most sales overall!!! Galaxy Watch 5 Classic Samsung, PLEASE!!!!

Battery seems improved some but not close to 80hrs like Samsung states but does the watch 5 pro look bigger on the wrist than the watch 4 classic? I didn't buy the 5 pro yet because the 4 classic looked small on my wrist. Right now I have the TicWatch pro 3 Ultra which is awesome and I get close to 4 days battery life.

@@poligonzo5300 yes exactly even with regular use the GW4 classic the longest from my use 1 day 12 hours. With AOD on and 1 hr of work out couple of texts and few mins call the best you getting 1 day 5hrs it won’t make a 2nd day. So for the GW5p a good solid 4 days pretty solid but with AOD on few work out calls and texts you are getting 2 to 3 days max

I have this watch, and I am on 50% after 4 and a half days. I am in Airplane mode, daily I switch back the BT once and off. Continuues pulse is on and steps and sleep. And thats it. So 8-9 days in a single charge.

I can get 3 days out of my 5 Pro pretty easily with AOD off, but I mainly just use it as a watch with sleep/HR/SPO monitoring on. I think Samsungs 80 hours is pretty conservative tbh, I reckon if you turn every monitor off it will go beyond 80 hours.... but why would you though? LOL

SPO monitoring DESTORYS batter. I HIGHLY recommend turning it off. My gamin smart watch lasts me 30 days on a charge, but if I turn on SPO, it goes down to 13 days. HR monitoring doesn't really take that much battery, you can keep it on continuous.

I just bought a beautiful Samsung Refurbished 4 Classic 46mm & it wouldn't last a day with everything off or super low settings. I have an old Gear S3 Frontier Amazon Refurbished that I got 2yrs ago & it still last 2 days easily. So, I just traded my 4 Classic for the 5 Pro Titanium ($130 w/ trade in) Hoping it last at least 3 days on low settings. I just need it to tell time that's it. Keeping my Gear S3 Frontier as a back up watch 🤟

I still don't think ti would make it to 80 hours because when I sleep with heartrate and AOD on takes way less battery then when I'm up and have measure heartrate countinously off, I'd say you could stretch it to 60hours but 80 looks hard even though with a sub 600mAh it should last 4 days

@@GottoGetitDone but the biggest improvement I'd wanna see is them improving their heart rate sensors and making it as accurate as apple watch 7 even with heavy work out the correlation between medical level and apple watch series 7 is 99% while the watch 5 pro has a correlation of 64% which is pretty mediocre for a smartwatch this expensive. Would like to see 600mAh battery with 3-4 days of battery with heavy use with AOD and measure heart rate countinously with all the health features enabled with 5-6 days of battery with all these setitngs off it was dissapointing with this large battery it struggled to make it 2 day it made it but struggled and the same level of heartrate accuracy as apple watch series 7. I feel like if people are upgrading for battery life their is just no reason to upgrade from watch 4 classic, maybe if the heart rate sensors was more accurate and better sleeping track than would I call it an upgrade it's pretty much the level of mediocreness ad the watch 4 classic.

I got the watch 5 LTE and turned all the features off except calls and msgs. I am getting only 7 hours of running time. Which is very disappointing. Mobile network is using most of the battery charges. I'll be checking for two more days, if it doesn't get better I'll return it.

Today I actually found the reason behind draining the battery so fast the other day. At my workplace the cell reception is very poor inside in the building and the watch kept looking for LTE reception there as I turned off the bluetooth connection between my phone and the watch to save battery. But today I kept the bluetooth turned on connected to my phone and the watch actually used only 23% battery from 8am to 5pm. I had all other services off except google assistant, call and msg, weather. It's pretty impressive. So I am not returning. :)

My Galaxy watch lasts 4 days and i have not taken it off from my hands when i swim in the sea. I hope it lasts 4 day as it's battery is much larger than the original Galaxy watch.

OMG. I have Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro, literally everything is on, all the sensors, GPS, continuous heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, everything. Plus display brightness is on 3/4. My battery is 50% after 4 days of this usage. It's good that I chose this watch, instead of the Galaxy.
