I'm a child of the 80's too, and like you, I now look back on that time with great fondness and nostalgia. All the same, I caution us not to reminisce on our youth with rose-tinted glasses. From everything I've learned, every single decade had its own problems; we just weren't aware of it BECAUSE we were kids who didn't know any better (or our parents shielded us from the truth). The 80's gave us things like 8-bit consoles, Saturday morning cartoons, synthwave, D&D etc. But it was also the time of the Cold War, the crack epidemic, gang violence and so on. To paraphrase an excellent song that came out in that same decade, things "were always burning since the world's been turning."
