Gale Force Storm on Cunard's Queen Mary 2

One of the days during our transatlantic crossing on Cunard's Queen Mary 2 from New York City to Southampton, there were huge swells and gale force 8 winds, causing the boat to sway and rock.

The original Queen Mary - what is it used for now? Interesting fact I learned is that the horn from the original QM was taken off and installed on the QM2 in addition to its existing horn. So there are two horns on QM2!

9 time out of 10 it’s so smooth you forget you’re on a boat! There was one day where it was pretty swell-y and windy and you could feel some rocking, but it wasn’t nauseating (at least not for me).

TheAidanator ok great, but you went in summer? We’re considering getting to America via this sailing option. Would you recommend this as the best option, if one doesn’t want to fly....?

True - in Winter it is generally more wavy and obviously less pleasant when out on deck. I would still recommend it as the best alternative to flying - regardless of the time of year.

19:10 the "boat" is rocking...yeah some "boat", only about 133 meters longer and 10 meters wider than any I've ever been on. ;)

It really doesn’t feel like a boat - I regularly forgot I was actually in the middle of the Atlantic; it feels much more like a giant posh hotel. Then you look out of the window and see the sea rushing past and you’re like _”oh yeah”_
