Hi as just posted above, I purchased a pen from you, green swirls in ebonite (I believe) with an upgraded architect nib, at the Yoseka Stationary Fest last week. Thank you for making such a fine pen. I love it, as did my wife when I got home and showed it to her.

Good review as always. :) I am happy to see that penmakers from my country are making good pans and getting attention. I really like that different countries and cultures have different takes on pen design and might have specializations. Not for this pen specifically but Kilk and Agackakan seems to be making a very good job in silver parts of the pens. Kilks celestial Camera Laterna and orient and Ağaçkakan's Anatolia has excellent silver artwork and fits well into design.

Hi, David. As you may recall, I purchased one of these pens through Galen Leather back in January, though mine is a Brooks Primary Manipulation I. I had some trouble with the nib but Yunus (with Galen) replaced it promptly and the replacement performs perfectly. It is a broad and shows off well the shading properties of the ink I usually use in it--Diamine Ancient Copper. I was also intrigued by the finial and the nib, so I asked Yunus. He explained that it is a drawing of his late mother helping her son blow bubbles. Knowing that just adds to my fondness for the pen and the companies.

Hi David, I just discovered this brand last week at YOSEKA’S STATIONARY FEST in Brooklyn, NYC. I stumbled upon their table and the pens on view were so beautiful to the eye and touch that I bought one right away. Mine kind of looks like the V1 model, but the cap shape has just slightly different silhouette, with a slighter bulge. I’m thinking that he had a number of one-off’s perhaps, as the lengths were a bit varied. In any case it’s a winner and am glad I acquired it even though I thought I was done emptying my wallet for the day. The URUSHI pens they had on sale were gorgeous as well, though the ebonite model I got was certainly more in my price range.

I like the copper ratio in the Carolina Pen Co pen too. All very pretty.

The company has a wide array of beautiful resins for this pen. If shipping is included in the price, it is an attractive price. The Carolina Pen version is my favorite. Thanks again, David for the review of a pen I would not have known if it were not for you.

Hi David. Thank you for another great video. Tough call. All three are pretty cool. I’d say the Leonardo Figboot and the Agackagan are my favorites. I think may check it out!

I bought one of these and love it. The nib was tuned perfectly from the start, but I swapped it for a Med Curs Ital from Peyton Street Pens: perfection.

Great review David, as always. Just one minor matter I wanted to correct. The name “Ağaçkakan”, is understandably very difficult to pronounce for Americans. So I will help you since Turkish is my native tongue. The meaning of the word is a the bird “woodpecker”. Best way to pronounce is: “Ahachkakan” All the letters "A" in the word sound like letter “A” in Army. I hope it helps.

I definitely turn my pen to the left, as I write, even when I start out with the pen straight. I write a slanted cursive also. An oblique nib may be something I need to look into.

I know why the orientation of the engraved logo on the nib….its not for the writer him/herself to look at….its for people other than the writer to look at. Good idea to attract people’s eyeballs.👍

I picked up one of these last year in Jonathan's Bohemian Twilight with a crisp broad nib. Have been enjoying it very much. Looks like they changed the nib a bit, mine is an old style JoWo nib with the woodpecker logo on it. Never knew what the image on the finial was of, thanks for pointing that out!

I also get annoyed by the evil spirits. I mean, they just aren’t what they used to be. They’re more irritating than evil. Mostly they hide my glasses and pens and giggle when certain people (coughspousecough) choose to believe I’ve misplaced my specs. And they collude with the computer gremlins. Sheesh. I do like Galen’s products. Some day, if I have places to go again,I may get one of their medicine bags if I can figure out how to protect the pens from that zipper. This is a nice-looking pen and I love the tribute to the mother (Zaynap? sorry; I’m bad with names) as well. I think I like the Leonardo version the best, but all three are beautiful. (And I always like getting a glimpse of that Kilk). Is the little dark heart on the flat of the barrel intended to be there or just luck of the pour?
