I grew up in next town over Elizabeth and worked in Galena most of my life, the reason Desoto is missing floors is because of a fire, also Abraham Lincoln gave a speech on the balcony of that hotel (also i used to live on top of those steps and after a night of drinking thats a interesting trek)

I think the chocolate shop will pack your chocolates in a little cooler if you are shopping to take them home. Minimum purchase. My daughter and I love to shop for clothes there. They have things we can’t find where we live (the Twin Cities) with all of our shops and outlet centers. I buy an article of clothing every time I’m there, and I’m not really into clothes nor am I a big shopper. My favorite casual summer dress was bought there. My daughter shopped for clothes there before she left for a year in Paris. She still has one of the pairs of pants. Just love Galena! Looks like you had a great time!
