I am a motorcycle guy and we typically let go with our left hand. Even though it is not the dominant hand it is consistent. Might be something to try if you end up in a slump where you are struggling with the tree.

Great info thanks for sharing. I use a mushroom style button and do similar to your style with my thumb. Tucking the elbow tight to your side seems to help some isolating the elbow to the thumb movement.

Thanks for the video. For top bulb I remove the button spring from the Biondo 00 button. If you unscrew the button and take off the Jesus clip, you can remove the internal spring out from underneath the red button. And I use z-force mode. If I'm bottom bulbing, I use the Biondo Terminator and blinder to 3rd bulb. I mounted the Terminator close to the steering wheel, ergonomically aligned. So I'm pressing forward and then release my thumb towards my shoulder for go time. I actually feel more confident bottom bulbing. Another very successful guy at the track I've seen has his Terminator mounted to the right of his seat pointing straight up and he presses it with his thumb and uses an axial rotation of just his wrist. And then there's another guy that slides off to the side of the Terminator and just lets it spring back. Whatever works for the individual and they can be repeatable with. 🙂

As always I enjoy your videos, we must all keep an open minded to others opinions and what works for them. I really have put a lot of time studying all thinks affecting my release of the button, always working for consistency. My results are that I have tried to eliminate as many muscle as possible from the process. I found when I use my arm sometimes my thumb would try to assist the motion by pushing on the button. Knowing that about .050 of an inch of motion at the beginning is all that matters I have concentrated on isolating motion to my hand. I think of the motion of grabbing something hot between my thumb and index finger and getting burned. It's just opening my hand. Also I position the button so my motion is as perfectly in line with the button as possible not moving at any angle. For me Z-force is much more consistent but I could not come up with a recovery for a flinch so after a 3 month commitment to it I returned to the release. I agree there is very little margin for error at the tree but fortunately it is the one part of drag racing we can practice effectly at home. This is just my opinion and I hope my mind is open enough it may be complete reversed in a year when I find something that works better. Thanks for the helpful and thought provoking content.

Very good video. You called him your”Dad”once. “Old man”, is disrespectful. Show respect.
@GallStarTV Жыл бұрын
I don’t think you understand it Larry - and ever since the channel started people have commented about it. When I was growing up I heard my dad refer to my grandpa as his “old man”, and for some reason I thought that was so cool.. I knew how much my dad respected and admired my grandpa, so I honestly saw this as a sign of respect. Nonetheless, I started calling my dad the old man for the same reasons - he’s taught me literally everything in my life and I don’t respect anyone on the planet as much as him. He gets it. I get it. The internet doesn’t. Heck he even has “the old man” beside his name on his racecar. So yeah, that’s that. Glad you enjoyed the video!

The mouth piece idea is fantastic! I've spent a lot of time placing my transbrake button but I really need to move my bump button. I have to look down to find it... Mouth piece bump... Well problem solved.

Next year I would like some vids of the old man racing to see what he does from the time he hits the starter button to all the way till he turns of the track. I think that would be a cool vid.

Another tip I found helpful is how you actually press the button. Wash button will only depress so far but the pressure you apply to it can vary depending on the situation (more adrenaline) and can result in several thousandths or more difference in rt.

I got this same tip from a decently known bracket guy. It took a different tb button after racing another car. But it worked.

What ever happened to the z force you swore by? What made you switch back to standard let go? I’ve been using z force on and off for about 3 years now.. just wanted your opinion on the matter

Yoo you should get a jr dragster for you oldest kid
I'll pass this on to my brother and my grandpa, because they use the button. Edit: With the launching aspect, I'll see how much I can translate to footbraking.

You want to get faster times then try holding your breath to slow your heart rate down as you're approaching the tree

What I do is when I’m staged I’ll smash the button and I have a throttle enhancer but I hold the Pedel up until they are staged then go to the floor because I noticed when I would get in the button when we both are staged I would be later then snot
