Galway Downs Winter HT TR West Coast Cooley 2/3-4/24

While our weekend results may not look the best on paper, Ruairí gave me some of his best jumping ever. Dressage was a bit rough with a new arena, his struggle with balance in wet footing (we’ve had a large amount of rain in Southern California, so the fact we were able to compete at all is a miracle in itself), and some minor mistakes left us with a 37.8. Show jumping was the most consistent, ridable round I’ve ever had with him. We had an unlucky rail and I dropped him in front of the 2 stride causing a second rail, but he’s the most honest horse and got us out of it. Xc day was amazing! The footing was beautiful, the rain held off, and Ruairí knew what his job was. For this being his second training level event ever, he left the start box like a xc machine. We had a double clear round to finish the weekend on a 45.8
