Happy Wednesday! This fight is fun and different than even the usual stand battle! D'Arby's gambling schemes are a fan favorite. D'arby's name is based on: Terence Trent D'arby, a singer and songwriter from London, England. His only hobby is... you guessed it! Gambling! We have some awesome fun facts this week. Here are the nifty details taken straight from the source! In THESE EPISODES, the animation for his hand movements was motion captured from an actual magician. Araki created the character of D'Arby to have a showdown between a well-established cheater like Joseph and someone else who could be his equal The coin game he plays against Joseph is inspired by the 1968 movie Farewell Friend / Adieu l'ami by Jean Hermin where it is used multiple times by Charles Bronson's character. Curiously, despite his right hand's fingers still being intact, he still grabs and holds cards with his left hand in his reapparance in Eyes of Heaven. Given his surname, J. D' Arby is either Scottish or Irish. I hope you guys enjoyed this awesome set of episodes. Trust me. There's even more awesome little details to come, we have a lot of fun content to enjoy. I wish everyone a good week and good health!

You mentioning D’Arby’s last name having Scottish/Irish origins just made me think about D’Arby’s dialogue being spoken in a thick Belfast accent and now I can’t Unhear it, thank you Awesome facts as always

Just wanted to let you know that you put the paragraph about the coin game being inspired by the movie Farewell Friend twice, aside from that I appreciate seeing your comments about the inspirations and behind the scenes info for the show and manga, keep up the great work.

Another one of my favorites from this part!! This shows us that not all stands can be defeated with violence and that the most powerful stands don't have to necessarily be combative. I remember losing my shit watching these episodes for the first time. It's amazing how they were able to make everything feel so intense without a huge fight happening. What really baffled me the first time I read this arc almost 30 years ago and still baffles me, is how naive they always look. They are basically in the lions den after facing about 20 Stands all around the world in any kind of imaginable location and situation. One dodgy guy with broad pointy shoulders happens to know the house your mortal enemy Dio lives in -not suspicious at all- and he asks them to bet their souls. Not one of them smells a rat. I mean I will alway love jjba and I know it's for the sake of an amazing battle of wits, but yare yare daze indeed (By the way, keep it up guys, really dig your videos)

Oh boi, my favourite minor villain fight of part 3 is here! The battle which inspired the whole Yu-gi-oh franchise as well as the battle where I could not see any other crusader win this battle like Jotaro did :P in the words of one my favourite comments I saw about this fight, Joseph will bullshit you to thinking he has shit cards when really he is holding all the best cards, while Jotaro will make you believe he is always upto something and must have the best cards because his calm demeanour and attitude. The only form of violence is this whole fight was jotaro breaking D'arbys finger. This set of episodes is truly a fan favourite ^_^ Also D'arby is massively respected for almost defeating all the crusaders just by his skills in gambling alone! His stand is the best personification for his ability :P however this episode also just make jotaro even more badass. Jotaro might not be able to play poker, but he is a master in the meta game. So fucking good that he stared at the man to submission. Anyway enough gushing, time for references! Daniel J. D'arby is a reference to American singer Terence Trent D'arby. Daniel J. D'Arby's victims Garie Moor and Christian Vander are named after Irish singer Gary Moore and French musician Christian Vander, respectively. Memorable memes this time! Ep 34: The crew downing their drink in unison Ep 34: "Go aherd mister Jostuur" Ep 35: "R-R-R-R-R-R-RAISE?!" watching this episode uncensored is the worst though as they censor jotaro smoking in these episodes. So jotaros whole ass space is literally covered the whole ep 35 except his eyes. Glad to got to witness jotaro in his full glory and spectacle. This episode solidifies Jotaro as the Clint Eastwood of the Jostars :P

I’m a couple months late to the party but I’ve finally caught up and will be commenting from now on. Downside is I’ll have to wait for new episodes though lol. I’ll mostly be sharing my personal thoughts on the episodes. I noticed you’ve already got regular commenters who share cool facts and point out the musical references. If they miss out on anything I’ll make sure to butt in. Your comment section is one of the most wholesome I’ve ever seen btw. Call me a pessimist, but I’m actually shocked there’s no spoiler spamming (let’s not jinx it though shall we?). Stardust Crusaders is my least favorite part overall (I haven’t read the manga yet, so that’s only out of 5) but there’s still *alot* to love here. This arc especially is one of the best. Which is kind of hilarious considering it’s back to back with what I consider to be the worst pair of episodes in the entire series. I’m glad you guys could get some enjoyment out of the Alessi two-parter… I personally could not. The good news is all the episodes from here on out are straight bangers. Idk if you’re sick of praise by this point, but I feel obligated to compliment you and explain why this is great stuff. Your camera banter is really entertaining. For some reason, it’s rare to find reactors who don’t just regurgitate lines from whatever they’re watching. That style of commentary has always felt so disingenuous to me. I like how you guys discuss the episodes after the fact as well, I’m always interested to hear a fresh perspective (I’ve seen some people comment that they skip this part of the videos and for the life of me I can’t understand why). The reaction genre of KZbin, to me, is meant to capture the feeling of showing a friend something you like for the first time. You guys do that perfectly. Even down to making jokes, which is something my actual friends and I do when we watch stuff.

Idk if this is something you guys would be interested in once you're done with Part 3, but there's an older OVA of Stardust Crusaders from the 90s. It's not popular cause it's more serious and a lot shorter, but I think it makes the fight scenes even cooler :) eg. Avdol comes back in the Justice fight instead to save the gang from the zombies But mainly the Dio fight in it is incredible, I thought it was so much better than this anime adaptation's (which is already awesome to begin with). He's even more menacing and the animators went ham on it

Even when I originally read the manga, I felt that Joseph really got shafted on this "fight"; the man was a bluffing and cheating GOD in Part 2, able to do sleight of hand and mental games to beat any situation, so him losing to D'arby really sucked.
