No it wasn't. It was a gameboy port of Shadow of the Ninja that was rebranded as a Ninja Gaiden game.

That would explain the last boss resembling the Female Ninja from shadow of the Ninja has turned Evil cause the last boss is wearing a headband just like her and Ryu is Probably Hayate originally

@@alejandrocamarero3679 this game was developed by Natsume (which also developed Shadow of the Ninja), so the similarities are because of the sound engine. You can compare the sound effects and you will notice some of them are almost, if not the same as the sound effects in others game made by them.
