I don't think I've ever seen a Gameboy game look so much like a Tiger Electronics game as Zoids does. Even the Game & Watch collections seem more polished and powerful.

The border you used for Zoids is hilarious, imagine folks going to a theatre to watch that.

Just watched this series all the way through - it's fantastic, this is such fascinating, well-researched history into games I've never at all heard of (and even interesting stuff about games I own, like the Super Game Boy mode in Space Invaders). Keep up the great work!

Zoids! Always sharing the pages of catalogues with Transformers, stopping me from saying "Look how cool this stuff is!" Since 1985.

A game that is completely RNG based. Lots of prayers were made to RNGesus to beat this, for sure.

This was a great episode. I absolutely love the work you're doing Parish. Zoids seems like the platonic ideal of the Game Boy game. Simple licensed trash you played because you had no other choice. My nostalgia addled brain pines for forgotten games like these. What I'm trying to say is I can't wait until you get to the Simpsons Game Boy titles.

I was just about to make the same comment. Totally forgotten childhood toy. I remember the heads being a like a little ship that opened up and had a tiny pilot inside. Pretty sure I played with those more than the dinosaur part.

Hi Jeremy, How do you know TOSE had a hand in the development of a game if they don't credit themselves in the game?
@doloresdebeauvoir4960
@doloresdebeauvoir4960 8 жыл бұрын
Oh I posted this too early. But what about other TOSE developed games? Sometimes they credit their company on the games but not using real names for the staff. I once had a colleague who worked on the GBA FF ports, Harvest Moon and the PS2 Super Monkey Ball and he showed the credits to me and how he 'masquerade' himself. Other games he talked about has no credits though.

I guess Ultraman Club was designed for people who can only play by rolling their face over the controls, since no amount of more deliberate play seems to improve your chances in any way.

While you are probably objectively correct about Takara being lower quality than Bandai (especially in 1990), nothing furrows my brow quite like the Banpresto logo. It's just an automatic response to decades of piss-poor stimuli.

Oh... oh noooo... I'm a bit nostalgic for Zoids but man that is a terrible way to use the franchise. The later RPGs were ok but Zoids has never been transfered well to videogames. And that's sad since it would obviously make a good Strategy RPG in the vein of Fire Emblem or Advanced Wars. I don't understand who is at game companies making these terrible decisions or why.

Zoids has a messy and janky 3D combat game for gamecube called Battle Legends, and sadly I think that's the best take the series has ever had - at least of the games released in the US. It's got tons of problems but unlike every other Zoids game i've ever played its decently fun and feels like there was some actual love put into it. At least that one is charming?

As soon as i heard you can play as another set of characters, i knew nothing would change. But anyways, Zoids Densetsu actually really sucks. Zoids Densetsu has at the very least ONE thing going for it. Yeah you heard me, ONE thing. It's not a puzzle game. Even then it's still terrible.

Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon on the Mega Drive is a pretty good Anime License game, it's a beat em up and it's a huge improvement over the terrible Super Famicom game. The only thing that really brings it down is that it for some reason lacks 2 player which is odd because the previous 2 Sailor Moon beat em ups had that feature, but it's still a fantastic game.
