Saw Holmes hobbies video of this esc. The low speed control sucks compared to the mamba x. Gonna wait till they address this issue

How recent was the Holmes Hobbies video? Castle's last firmware release was back in June, so this might be fixed already. I'm not really a crawler guy, but Castle is really big in the crawler community and have a lot of SW features specifically for crawlers. I'd be surprised if this wasn't fixed or there wasn't an easy work-around. Probably the simplest thing to do would be to call or email Castle Support. They follow Holmes, so they can probably just tell you how to fix/work-around the issue. Thanks for watching!

Wooow 😂 recently bought a C8 for my 8th scale, (have yet to install though) my 10th has a SW4…..worth me upgrading or keep it how it is?

It all depends on how you drive, whether you want to take advantage of a sensored motor, and how into tuning you are. SW4 is SOLID, but it has less power capacity and no data logging. Still, if it is good enough, it is good enough.

Crawler guys won't be happy if the 10 acts like the cobra 8. Just giving a heads up to companies.

There were some pretty hardcore crawler guys participating in the beta test. They made some really good recommendations that were incorporated into the new firmware which is being put into the Cobra 10 and Cobra 8. These guys definitely like its performance, so I will take their word that it rocks. 😁

@@RCPhysics I understand the r&d part. However I no longer trust review videos. Not your fault, just will take time to convience me.

There's nothing wrong with being cautious with your consumer dollars. Good products will prove themselves only in the hands of the greater public, so I'm not offended at all.

Do you happen to know How many amps will it let you pull for at least 3 seconds?
@RCPhysics2 ай бұрын
That's actually a tough question to answer because it has a lot to do with the quality of your batteries and connectors. This ESC is smart enough to look at the levels of ripple voltage it is experiencing, and it will cut power if it sees too much "dirty power" (High Ripple Voltage). If the power is clean (low ripple) it will deliver that for a longer time since the ESC will have lower parasitic heating. I forget what the amp limit is for this ESC in the App. The Cobra 8 can peak over 500A, but I honestly haven't maxed out mine. I will check the app when I get home to see what the current limit setting is. That will be a good indication of max throughput.

My cobra 8 popped on its 1st run silly flashing lights no power went with a max 6 g2 instead

What did you do with the failed ESC? Warranty Claim? I'm just curious.
@BalaclavaCarpers6 ай бұрын
@RCPhysics I haven't sent it back yet I did nothing crazy it just stopped working after 1 6s pack no reason wasn't to hot just stopped sending power to motor ?
@RCPhysics6 ай бұрын
@BalaclavaCarpers Sometimes the wiring harness that plugs into the ESC comes loose, so the ESC can't talk to the RX. Try checking that. You can also call tech support. If it is dead, they will definitely send you a new one.

@@BalaclavaCarpersThis makes no sense what so ever… So your saying you bought a newly designed ESC, it stopped working on your first run and you didn’t even contact Castle to see why or what happened or to give Castle any feedback that they might need to make adjustments in the future so this doesn’t happen again.?!lol wtf man.! Not to mention at least get you a new one under warranty at the very least so you’re not just throwing $200 in the trash for no reason.. Seems very suspect.! User error I’m guessing

In addition to just being solid ESC,s the new Cobra lineup has a lot more brainpower, so you have more advanced data logging and a LOT more configurability. If you don't need the extra features, these ESCs might not appeal to you, but those of us who are into that stuff are SUPER excited!
