I’m working on getting my bike converted to have a power meter. I will then be joining in about 2-3 weeks. My new season begins in January (weather pending) and I’m being moved up to the next class and I really want to be competitive. I just did a pre race with double the miles and I got smoked, literally ran out of ability to move 2 miles from the finish line. Took me 20 minutes to finish. I’m ready to see what it takes to improve!

I‘d love to see the algo make suggestions to take a rest week. Like hey the past few workouts haven‘t been that good or your RPE seemed way too high, consider taking a little break.

It will give you days off in its current form when it sees the sort of patterns you're talking about. That's not a full rest week, but it will be monitoring your performance to make sure you aren't overdoing it.

important to note, it's all power based, so it doesn't take into account heart rate also, i wish i could enter the specific event/route i'm training for, like in garmin - so its not just "better climbing" "race" that's too general

While it is power-based, heart rate data does help inform TrainerRoad's analysis. :) Regarding the specific event/route option, if you feel it isn't adequate for your specific event, our Customer Support Staff (likely a certified coach) would be happy to answer any questions and help you make any necessary tweaks. They're awesome. :) We've had athletes use previous versions of our custom training plan builder to achieve everything from bucket-list items to World Championship wins across road, MTB, CX, gravel, and triathlon. That said, we're confident this latest update is a big step up in personalization, and we'll continue to improve it moving forward. :)

You're actually in luck! We've got a new feature in Early Access that you can test out that brings in the strength training workouts (and all other non-cycling activities) you upload to Strava or Garmin Connect and adjusts future workouts. You can enable it in your account on TrainerRoad.com after signing up, and it'll likely be our of Early Access testing and widely available in the near future.
