@30:05 "We have a throwing arm... that's not to throw rocks at fruit." 🤣🤣🤣 Still laughing!! 😂😂😂 Solid review! I would also add that this smear campaign would have been better aimed at the processed foods industry. That rhino poaching has practically nothing to do with meat; it's all about their horns, which is why the entire carcass is often discarded. And that overall farming practices (for all food sources) are between poor and horrible, but blaming that on anything but human greed, apathy, and overpopulation is comparing apples to orangutans.

Thank you so much for doing these videos! I’ve done the Adkins diet for 20 years and have watched his research be demonized for that whole time. I knew how great I felt and didn’t give up on the diet. Today I’m far better off than my peers. Now you are giving me new science behind it. God Bless You! It makes me sad Dr Adkins didn’t live long enough to watch his message spread to all of the rest of us, thanks to Doctors like you!

Veganism is a cult, it’s not even a discussion anymore. To them it’s life and death defending the diet as they’re health decays in the process. My Sister has been vegan for over a year, and when my Mom informed me she had I went into a little about lack of bioavailability of nutrients when your vegan, and sure enough just a few weeks ago my Mom told me how she went to the Doctor and he told her she’s anemic due to iron deficiency. Instead of it being a reality check, she literally blamed the doctor for not telling her she needs to take iron pills. All they do even as there health is worsening is blame the world. It’s really sad

So appreciate your depth of knowledge and research you bring to the table along with your upfront noting that you do not know what is THE diet for anyone person, yet the data and experience points towards more carnivore. Either way, appreciate what you and many are doing in the health and fitness space for people to be guided towards a greater understanding, which will lead to increased overall health of the individual, rippling out to the more.

Thank you Dr. Baker for going through this point by point refutation of this latest piece of vegan propaganda. Your efforts are appreciated. Your critique of the movie Game Changers proves that when you remove cherry picking, poorly conducted epidemiological studies, cofounding variables such as healthy user bias, and anecdotes where a vegan falsely ascribes their athletic prowess to veganism when most of their athletic prowess was amassed while eating meat, the vegans really have nothing. Their arguments are as bankrupt as their diet is of bioavailable nutrition.

Drake Santiago someone building muscle on a vegan diet doesn’t disprove that someone can build muscle on a meat diet, it just shows that it can be done. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but body builders are not healthy, they are just lean. Maybe vegan body builders maintain better hormone and cardiac health? I’m sure we’ll find out as more people are being exposed to proper dietary research and reducing meat consumption.

I’m vegan, but the Game Changers does have quite a bit of BS in it. I don’t doubt that better blood flow contributes to better athletic performance, and I do think vegan diets provide that. However, where the documentary fell short is it didn’t address the MANY compounds in animal products that reliably boost athletic performance. Creatine, carnosine, carnitine just to name a small handful.

Let’s use Shawn baker and carnivore logic here 1. Baker mayfield heisman trophy winner and runner up for rookie of the year in 2018, this year he has a QBR of 39.4 - decline is due to his diet 2. Manny pacquiao undefeated for 7 years, lost two fights in a row due to his diet 3. Mike Tyson youngest heavyweight champion loses to buster Douglas by knockout because of his diet 4. Ben Simmons hadn’t hit a 3 point shot since college because of his diet We can go on for days, any time a vegan athlete’s performance declines or gets injured its due to the diet but there’s no need for explanation when any other athlete’s performance declines or gets injured LOL

Thanks for your review. Every diet is hard and takes preparation, determination and research. Most diets that work for some people, can’t or won’t work for others. I’ve tried a number of diets always finding them hard and time consuming. The best one I found (for myself) is a macros diet. Where I weigh myself, check my body fat ratio with the help from a qualified dietitian. Then my dietitian gave me information where he stated; I needed this much grams of fat, carb and protein. He went on to advise me where best to find these marcos in food I liked to eat. But he specified that “it was all down to me.” All I am trying to say is, eating healthy is good and I recommend everyone to try it. I’m not forcing or trying to force anything on you. The decision is completely yours. I recommend that you shouldn’t change your opinion, on how you live your life. By the opinion from one movie or person. Make your own judgements and conclusions. The Mcgregor reference makes perfect sense - its an argument of endurance. The man has runs out of energy in all of his major fights. He wins optimally when he knocks out opponents very fast. But the second the match draws out then he runs out of energy, something that you exactly see the opposite of, in the plant based(not meat based) Diaz brothers. If you've seen this movie twice and haven't been able to reach that conclusion then obviously you're way to stupid or biased to watch it objectively and your whole "review" is worth nothing. Be honest or stay silent - there is enough ignorance on the internet.

Info from both sides is interesting to process, and more if you consider yourself open to any new idea. What is interesting to me, from this video, is the examples shown about the athletes that go vegan, after being omnivorous all their life. My reasoning on this is that as an athlete, one wants always to see improvement, even if you are at the top of your discipline. You will try anything, even if it looks like a cheap gimmick to add an edge. In this case, they try to change their eating regimen. Based on this examples, it is suggested that going full vegan, on the long run you do get performance deterioration, but a slight improvement at the start. There is a world of "Junk" food in the vegan world, but when you start out I imagine people try to eat mostly whole food, almost none processed. The interesting part is that, this short boost in performance before going into the performance deterioration could be because of eating little to no process foods. Puts in to perspective how bad process food is, regardless of the type of diet.

As always, excellent video. Thanks. I love how you bring up evolution and adaptation as it really is important to understand when we are trying, as individuals, to get a fix on what is appropriate for each of us. Protein based, not plant based, is likely the way we need to go. At least for me that is the case. Anyone who has done a clean carnivore cleanse (@6 weeks of beef, ghee, salt) will quickly find out what their bodies can tolerate. Many of the vegetables that I used to eat, when added back into my diet (one at a time) caused serious problems and have been eliminated for good. It is a time consuming process, but worth it. I do firmly believe that genetics plays a huge role in what each individual can eat. My ancestry traces back to cold climates, so 98% carnivore works best for me.

I don't particularly care for this fact, but I recall reading Novak was never vegan - he is just "plant-based" - that is, eating mainly plants. He still eats a little fish and chicken - at least according to the preview I found of his cooking book (and it looked like he was missing omega-3, which vegans mostly get from certain seeds, nuts and brussels sprouts. Something you have to know, just like you'll likely be deficient as a meat-eater if you don't eat fish). But I don't see how his diet matters in any way - you can't really suggest anything scientific from one person's eating style. I think the point of the movie was to disprove the cultural claim that it's impossible to be a vegan athlete - and that doesn't require all examples to be right.

Richard Wrangham NEVER said humans are herbivores. In fact, he has said over and over that raw veganism can not be maintained long-term, and is only a temporary weight loss diet. His thesis is that humans evolved to eat COOKED food as part of our diets. He lists meat, starch, honey, fruits & veg as human foods. People can't always get meat. Humans are OMNIVORES, and opportunistic meat eaters. Western people don't like insects, but they are the main source of animal food in many places. Even chimps eat insects and hunt. They don't eat cooked food in the wild unless there was a wildfire, because they obviously can't cook. However, a couple in captivity have been taught to start a fire and cook simple things like roasted marshmallows by humans, so the wild ones are on the cusp. www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=112334465

Plant-based means having plants as your primary food source. Having a steak with sauce and a small side salad is not plant-based. Especially not stuff like lettuce and cucumber which is not much else than water. Neither is having fries with your BigMac. But having meals where varied unprocessed plants is the main part of your nutrition, and then having a bit of meat on the side occasionally, that's plant-based. Plant-based is what's claimed healthy, but veganism isn't the same thing (i.e. fries, biscuits, soft drinks etc.), even though it can be.

Using something as extreme as the trail was a bad idea to begin with : Other endurance athletes follow a similar pattern: Appalachian Trail record holders like Karl Meltzer and Karel Sabbe completed that 2,190-mile course in record time on diets of beer, pizza, potato chips, and candy. But quick-acting characteristics of these foods that make them ideal race-day snacks are also the reason why they're bad for us when consumed on a regular basis. A wealth of scientific evidence has shown that relying on processed foods leads to weight gain over time, and that people who eat more of these foods tend to get more cancer and die quicker than people who rely on fresh vegetables, whole grains, and healthy fats like olive oil.

Too many co-mingle their motivation beyond health, to include politics, animal activism, a touch of religion, & a desire to prove their egotistical intellectual or moral superiority. I actually saw this before I saw Game Changers: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHfOXn9tjMiaZsk Arnold's first line is, "Are you here to bust me for not being TOTALLY vegan?" As you see from the Arnold video and Dr. Baker's review, the real problem with the vegan argument is that of so many other segments of society. There is one word to describe it: NUANCE (or lack of it). Vegans are, common in my experience, one of the groups of people that feel that they are the 'anointed'. Somehow, how they eat will change the world and there will be a perfect utopia. No one cares that a person is vegan. It is only when a person tries to push their morals onto others and disguise it as nutritional science that it becomes a problem. Maybe it is just cognitive bias that is to blame. But, it is the distortion and lack of information consolidated from all points of view that creates the health dilemmas. Vegetables are extremely important in the diet. But, so are animal sources. This attitude that creates so much confusion can be described in Thomas Sowell's book "The Vision of the Anointed".

Conor got gassed out that fights because he gained too much weight too quickly. He was scheduled to fight at 155, but his opponent got pulled out on like 2 week notice and Nate stepped in as a replacement, but for 170 lbs. Conor then stuffed his face trying to make up for the weight difference, and paid the price for it. They should have showed the rematch where Conor put the weight on properly and literally turned nate into a walking punching bag.

Connor macgregor clearly blamed his loss to Diaz on eating too much steak!
@JoseMaloof
@JoseMaloof 5 жыл бұрын
you do realize Diaz just goes "vegan" a week or two before a fight? Also, eating too much steak is also not very well seen in the "carnivore"/athlete performance community. He had to eat like that to gain weight for the fight which was programmed in less than 20 days. Don't care what kind of eating regimen you are on, gaining 20lbs en that amount of time will hinder your performance.

So has anyone been "carnivore" since birth? Can't you use the same argument - that Mr Baker developed most of his physique eating a diet which still included plants? People talk about how all these vegan athletes end up retiring - like no omnivore athletes ever retire or get injured? Where are the keto or carnivore top athletes? There may be a few but certainly not very well known or any more well known that those in the film. While Mr Baker talks about how these studies are wrong or cherry picked etc, he has not provided any studies or references supporting the carnivore diet. While he agrees with Arnold about who the F*ck are you to tell me what to eat - well you spend a lot of time trying to discredit anyone who says there is anything good about a vegan diet....

Beth S he and other carnivores repeatedly acknowledge there are no studies and urge that over time there will need to be. They acknowledge that the current diet recommendations from food plate and pyramids are poor. As you must acknowledge far too many carbs, grains and plant leaning and that is not working well is it given the explosion of health problems? However what is also very clear is that saying no animal products is extremely damaging as ex- vegans attest. I am not a scientist but from my primary school basic learning I do think I was carnivore from conception. Sperm, egg, blood lining increased from mom, placenta, came out drank her colostrum and then breast milk.
