Unconscious bias is literally bullshit. At least in the way DEI teaches it. Bias is built on life experience. So if you grew up in a neighbourhood where black people were more violent, you would likely have some kind of bias against black people. As you grow up, you tend to grow out of those biases because of further life experience. This can go both ways too. I received a lot of hatred from indigenous people in my town simply because I'm white. I also had friends who were indigenous, so I naturally learnt it's not a race thing, it's an individual thing. Some people are racist, but most aren't. However what DEI is doing is creating an army of racist and sexist people. It's been horrifying seeing how quickly this influenced society. People looked at me like I was crazy when I called DEI racist back when it was first introduced. I'm glad to see people finally pushing back.

@Daniel__Nobre4 күн бұрын
@@danielchavez9367 it is due to (made up) investment metrics. Business has shifted in the 90s, specially public companies. Their boards just want to and found the best ways to get rich fast, and as such, business sustainable long term profit via products and services is no longer the most viable way to do so. And so, investors get their money back by creating perception of value, not true market value. This brings more investment, sometimes exponentially so. Rating companies then showed up to help manipulate this perception. This is also the reason why speculation is the baseline of economy today. And why, of course, financial bubbles grow gigantically and then also eventually explode in world wide scale. If you want to understand it further search ESG metrics. Also there is a cool book about it called “The Race to Zero” by Paul Tice, who worked for 40 years in firms like JP Morgan, Lehman Brothers, etc. The info as usual is all mostly out there. I started my career in software in 2018. Over two years, I met a bunch of colleagues - male and female - and they all were very well educated, and very competent. When we got two new team members, both female, I was tasked with their onboarding. Both initially lacked confidence, but in a matter of roughly 2 months they were as productive as everyone else, and it was their first job. I was genuinely impressed at how quickly they picked up everything and how motivated and capable they were. They were also cool people to just hang out with and have a chat during lunch break. Everyone got along and worked towards a common goal. These days, I hear tons of stories of men outright refusing to talk to women at their jobs, because some women "me too" a bit too close to the sun when they do not get what they want, and no one believes a guy who gets accused. And you hear about questionable hiring practises everywhere. If women ever had a real chance in predominantly "male jobs", tech, IT, etc. then DEI and (toxic) feminism ruined it. I miss the 2018 days, where a coworker was a coworker, most people were not confused about their gender, and your bedroom life was not discussed in the office, but rather left at home. Great insight, you hit the nail on it’s head when you said that people who had struggles should be look up to rather then being given benefits, it’s kind of insulting for you to expect less out of someone who has struggled more, you should almost be jealous they had learned and experienced struggles that made them who they are now, stronger and better. It’s very backhanded to cover advantages you give people who have been historically oppressed and call that ‘Empowering’, of course there should be a balance, and what I’m rooting for is having a balanced approach to this compared to what it is now, it’s just benefits that are based on race and are unfair to everyone. Great stuff and I am excited to see you talk and try out your games. Good luck brother!

Struggles are something everyone faces and no one is owed anything due to historical oppression, especially after they try to pragmatically and cynically use it for profit and political /social power. This idea that a group struggles are uniquely more potent than others, especially when some of those choices are self imposed - not all of them, obviously - demeans the struggles of everyone else nad it's one of the reasons things are the way they are. Each person is a character with their own struggles. Depending on their circumstance and personality some people thrive in conditions that others would consider to be a horrible place to be in, and sometimes vice versa. Each person story and circumstance has to be told by them. Not insinuated and primed beforehand as being uniquely bad. Especially since it's an obvious political and social tool to utilize, and will be utilized, if done so. The simple reality is that a million "non-oppressed" people in a different group probably face harsher, more unqiue and grueling circumstance than all of the "oppressed" combined and are told by such people, many times when they have these special leverages and power given "shut up. The rest of the world is for you. Suffer in silence, in fact only focus on mine"

@GFXCXZ exactly, there’s always someone more oppressed or more privileged than you are (applies 99% of the population), and that makes being humble just underrated these days. I see them as a cult, a baby-religion if you will, and they are crazed zealots who just go around and indoctrinate. Point is maybe they should learn a thing or two from actual religions, I am Muslim, I am tasked with spreading the word of islam, but that comes second to respecting others and their beliefs no matter how much I disagree, but these people remove logic from the equation so it makes it hard to deal with them, Sabr actually says something amazing in the video, the DEI cult wants you to treat people how they want to be treated and not how you want to be treated, which is a teaching in Islamic texts, these people are trying to innovate so hard, that they are bending core principles that humans abide by and it’s just insanity and I am happy that they’ve delegitimized by the US Government, since now for their points to make sense they need to use common sense and logic instead of being upheld by a government that has no interest in their wellbeing and is just funneling them whatever they wanna hear instead of challenging it. Which is something I often try to do with my religion, is to challenge it and try to debunk it as best as I can which is a big reason I am still a believer honestly, maybe if everyone looked inwards and played devils advocate a bit, they would be able to solve more of their own issues and moral discussions would be easier.

I see 2 problems; one is there's always one group of people endind in the low end of the list whatever the criteria, the second and most important is that some people seem to believe and defend ideas that we shouldnt base our hierarchies/privileges in society from individual merit but from abritrary statements that are correlated to a common aknowledged narrative (wich btw isnt historically factual at all) that specifically intend, not to equality but to bring some communities under the level of privileges of others, they're not getting better privileges they just tear other people down to negociate poorly, resulting in harming everyone's privileges and rights for historical vendettas pursued and commited by malicious people for the financial benefits of a few detractors intsrumentalizing their actions. Most of our societal disfunctions are money based, evrytime the bs goes on is because some punk decided to rob people ! When in a group of people, everybody runs for its own self and start abusing trust and common sense to maintain their positions in a statu quo because evrybody knows that everybody is lying at some degree because nobody has no point in achieving anything else than staying in place, yes you might call it politics cuz its the same scheme of bs, but today we can call it modern corporate model i think, and this is why we always find the same kind of people on key positions, because behind them are people who uses ideology to legitimate their authority, this is similar to what cults and sects are doing, and we all know what they're chasing for =>>> money and power to get more money and so on....

DEI is part of the Demoralization and Destabilization process of Communist ideological subversion as outlined by Yuri Bezmenov in the mid 1980s. Whether you want to call it woke or Social Justice Activism, these people are only put in place to help destabilize society and then be disposed of once they have fulfilled that purpose. Do you know what reverse psychology is? How about Hegelian dialectic? Controlled opposition? These things work together to achieve a desired result. In the US/West, "progressive Liberals" (called "Useful idiots" by Bezmenov) are used to assert atheistic Marxist ideologies and policies not with the goal of getting people to accept Marxism, but to reject it in favor of the Conservative Fascism as the solution to a growing Marxist/Socialist/Communist problem. The leaders of the corporations are themselves "controlled opposition" doing what the government tells them to do, the useful idiots are the scapegoats who are to be blamed for the destabilization and moral degradation of society. I highly suggest you look up US Public Law One Zero Two dash One Four containing the Jewish Talmud "Seven Laws of Noah". (BTW: I am a German-Swiss-Jew, so please don't go thinking I am being antisemitic or some nonsense for calling this out. As a Christian, I must expose this in order for people to see the truth and not be deceived.) What is the “7 Mountains Mandate” (Dominionism/Dominion Theology)? Supposedly there are 7 “mountains” of global society-Arts and Entertainment, Education, Economy, Family, Government and Military, Media and Religion. (Note: The US voting machines are called “Dominion”.) According to this false teaching, by conquering these 7 “mountains”, the Kingdom of God will be established. So the pendulum swings, now violently, now slowly; and every institution not only carries within it the seeds of its own dissolution, but prepares the way for its most hated rival. William Ralph Inge "Democracy and the Future" The Atlantic Monthly (March 1922) --The atheistic, Liberal Marxist institution in the seven "mountains" has prepared the way for their most hated rivals, Ultra-orthodox Religious Conservative Fascists, to come to power. The following is a partial listing of the Noa(hide) Laws as derived from the Babylonian Talmud. Three of these Laws require the d3ath penalty by (head removal) when broken: Blasphemy, Idolatry and Sexual Immorality. (Note: Unlike in the Old and New Testament teaching “By the mouth of two or more witnesses..”, these Laws only require one accuser for the accused to be brought to the courts and condemned. Perhaps now you may understand why "Cancel Culture" exists. Go down to "Justice Laws" below if you don't want to read all of this, though you really should.) Idolatry: Must worship God alone. Must not worship any man (ie: Jesus) as God. (This is warned about in John 16:1-3, 2 Peter 2:1-3) No idols or statues. Do not bow to idols or statues. Do not offer sacrifices to idols or statues. Blasphemy: Do not curse God. Do not use God's name in vain. Worship the true God alone, do not worship false gods. (Worshiping Jesus is also seen as blasphemy.) Murder: Against murdering anyone, self defense is permitted. Mass murderers will be given the death penalty. (Abortion is classified as mass murder.) Theft--Do not: Steal. Rob. Overcharge -Have you noticed how many of today’s large corporations seem to be pushing the “progressive” message about “fairness, PRIDE, tolerance, inclusion, diversity, equity” while also overcharging for their products? And how many of these corporations are known to overwork and underpay their workers, reaping huge profits for themselves as they commit wage theft? Kidnap. Move a landmark. (Probably not good for BLM/Antifa activists who tear down historical landmarks.) Do not use false weights and measurements Do Not Covet Sexual Immorality-No: Bestiality Incest Homosexuality Justice Laws-Against: *Bribery* *Favoritism* --Hiring or promoting a person based off of intersectionality checklists rather than skill and merit is not "equality", it's favoritism. Condemning the Innocent Must- Administer the death penalty Treat people equally before the law

While the original and theoretical purpose of DEI is honorable (essentially, "leave nobody behind"), it has quickly morphed into an abominable, toxic, and vengeful ideology. Instead of striving to "be better" and working toward a healthier and more balanced industry, DEI has sunk even lower than what it claims to fight against. Hatred is what fuels DEI now, and nothing good can come out of it. Being a good and decent human being already achieve way more things than DEI.

This is a real question, would you credit the same value to someone who performs greatly with a non destructive but ethically reprehensible strategy than you would to someone who performs poorly with an ethical strategy ? What do you value the most between efficiency and morality ? Funny thing is people behind validation of DEI in corpos are supposed to give more value to efficiency to please investors and such, and i think that the immoral way they messed with DEI to just make money on LGBTQ will be taken as an argument in favor of the efficiency even though its factually the opposite, meaning its gonna get worse for people working in these companies for years until the high councils take accountability for what really happened.

I agree wholeheartedly with all your points, and as a gamer, I can say that I don’t care if the entire team making a game is white, black, male, female, able-bodied, disabled, young, old, whatever. I care that a game is *fun* and prioritizes the player’s experience over ideological sermonizing. Unfortunately, hiring people based on how much of a narcissist they are about their identity is a great way to ensure that, no matter the skill level of the developer, nothing will ever be done with a shred of care for what the player experiences.

My wife works in a company equivalent to a major games studio, such as Ubisoft or Bethesda. For the past 4 or 5 years, the best people have been leaving one after the other because of the increasingly unbearable atmosphere within the company. At the time, there were barely 40% women and 20% juniors (new recruits who had never really worked, but knew the job and were learning from the seniors). In short, today there are 80% women and over 60% juniors in the company, and it's getting worse by the day as the few very good ones who are left wait for the first opportunity to leave, as they have to do ALL the work, since most of the new recruits have no idea what the job is. It's not even that they don't know the company itself, no, they do NOT know the job they've supposedly been hired to do. Things are so bad that the company has stopped paying for team meetings once every 4 months (to keep the staff together) in restaurants. Now it's the employees who have to pay for their own restaurant/company meeting. A disaster.
@leandroatreides5 күн бұрын
Due to the influence of DEI policies in the game industry, it seems to be a case of ideology clashing with profit. Ubisoft, for example, is reportedly facing financial struggles-it had to close all its studios-and Bioware (EA) is heading in the same direction. Broadly speaking, there are different types of companies. Some will hire individuals with only the basic skills required for the job, allowing them to gain experience and eventually move on to larger companies that require more expertise. That’s how the system generally works. Hiring people without ensuring they meet at least the foundational requirements for a role does neither the company nor the individuals any favors. While meritocracy does play a role at every level, factors like social skills, the ability to work in teams, and leadership potential are also important-and that’s where the interview process comes into play.

The best diversity in cultures and storytelling in games comes from the love of said cultures from the devlopers, not forcing it. coming from the Atari 2600 generation and seeing what video games have become today it breaks my heart. Us gamers play video games to escape reality not to be lecture or told what to think or say. The gaming community is fighting back with our wallets by not buying any of this crap and Video game companies are feeling the pain now. I hope one day we can go back to the Battlefield 3 days, to the Halo 3 , God of War 3, MAG, Metal Gear days... but somehow i know we will never go back to those awesome years. I remember not too long ago, gamers were labeled as "losers" that lived in our mom's basements and we were all super fat. Now compaines realized how smart the gaming community is and how much we love it so they have decided to monitized every single minute we play any video game but i am getting off topic. Anyways, thank you for this video sir and hope all this poison in the gaming industry finally goes away. The gaming community has always been so accepting of everyone around the world. Let me ask you all a question, When was the last time you asked someone their race or gender before you added them to your friends list?? Let me help you out... NEVER! Here is the Truth of what happens before we add someone to our friends....We take out an impossible boss together or win a ranked match so we add each other so we can continue playing together. Along the way we find more and more players like us so we all become good friends. I bet you money that if you start to think of all your friends that you play with, you will realized that every single one of them comes from either another country or from another part of the country you in and NEVER ONCE thought about if you should or should not be friends with them if they were a certain race or gender. DEI only creates hate between the gaming community and this POISON needs to go away forever.

When I (white/straight/male) was hired, the CEO made a point to mention how they were working to improve their "diversity" because they didn't have enough black folx, despite us living in a Whitey McWhiterstan section of the country. 5:50 something people forget is that good chemistry with coworkers is incredible important. We arent robots and good socialization can improve our workflow way more than having a Davinci at our side. Also having a terrible coworker is the worst experiense.

Oh yeah... I actually had to go through this just two months ago. I also work in the game industry, and the training was mandatory. And when I was going through it, I was insulted. It was trying to tell me to acknowledge my privilege and that I am biased. I was so frustrated, and this was a 'test' that a child could pass, they handheld you through the entire process. It was horrible and I was like 'why are you so focused on saying this guy is Nigerian... and BLACK' you don't need to say that. You can just say the person is Nigerian. I feel like DEI is doing more harm than good. And there was a study at the University of Toronto, done by a woman, who says that it reinforces the stereotypes and if someone wasn't biased def ends up being it. It's pretty maddening, would love to hear your experience. I've had several talks that turned out to be pretty productive.

Love to see more stories from the inside. It's very important that we get rid of this and not to be quiet about it. Very constructive critique! Let's continue bringing scrutiny to this, cause it's ruining the industry we love.

I watched your video on Asmongold, so even though I'll only watch the 12secs here before I hit pause, I just wanted to pop over and say that the video was great, that it was appreciated, and that you've got a good head on your shoulders. Hope my comment & like gives traction.

I did it the other way round, I saw this video on amisgold, and then immediately searched this up after 10 seconds because I wanted to watch it without the constant interruption and commentary.

What’s your opinion on DEI in the gaming industry? Have you experienced any initiatives firsthand? Share your thoughts below!

Honestly ? Not a very good one... When you combine something like DEI with video games it turn out in s**t. I wish there will be a rule that force studios not to promote those kind of things or mark all the DEI games with a tag for players to know not to bother with it.
@lostvayne91465 күн бұрын
DEI is for the mentally ill. That simple.
@Tharros955 күн бұрын
I've only heard of one DEI policy that I agree with - removing names and photos on resumes to remove race and gender biases. I think this does ensure a more merit based evaluation. Everything else about DEI is incredibly repulsive.

As a part-time RPG designer, I too make some differences between male (more strength and size) and female (more agility and grace) characters, to add more diversity, paradoxically. That being said some women are still stronger than some men etc etc etc.
@The8bitbeard5 күн бұрын
I would love to see an RPG that takes the differences between men and women seriously. Like the world record deadlift for men is twice that of women, so stats in an RPG would reflect double the potential maximum strength in men vs. women. I also think the challenges women could face in a more male-oriented society, like in a medieval European style RPG, make for more interesting storytelling. Like, the real life story of Joan of Arc is interesting BECAUSE she's a woman in a very male dominated society. Forcing her to be on equal footing with men would take away everything interesting about that tale.

The USMC did a study regarding physical fitness and combat readiness standards, which can be found online. The results were that the bottom quintile of male marines overlapped with the top quintile of female marines. So the very best of the women were roughly equivalent to the lowest performing men

@@martinportelance138 idk, agility: "ability to move quickly and easily. "though he was without formal training as dancer or athlete, his physical agility was inexhaustible" ability to think and understand quickly. "games teach hand-eye coordination, mental agility, and alertness" men can do anything honestly...

One thing I loved is when Thegamer reported on how the lords of the fallen devs said they weren’t going to integrate any DEI elements into their games and thegamer spinned it in a way to try to say how DEI wasn’t bad and tried to bring in other examples of why games that included it failed. No integrity as always and they won’t call it out cause they don’t want to lose brownie points with the developers or lose their standing with them, disgraceful

I'm a half-brown guy. It wasn't until around 2012 that anyone ever said anything like, "As a person of color yourself, surely you agree that...." And if I didn't nod my head in agreement and play the role of victim, the responses ranged from confusion to anger. How dare I not be their proverbial little Tortilla Boy riding my donkey to the town square to humbly sell my hand-made tortillas to support my obviously poor and hard-working family! That's when I started to realize the left and democrats were losing the plot (and I still consider myself mainly a centrist democrat). These identities strip people of their INDIVIDUALITY with the promise "you're joining the righteous or winning team, but you'll have to shut up and go along". It's just candy-coated racism that allows certain people to look down on others "because it's for the right reasons." It's dopamine hits for sheep (but how could I be a sheep when I have a PhD?). In just about every respect we were more evolved past this trash back in the '90s and early '00s. Social media has breathed new life into moral tribalism, which is nearly identical in most features to religion and cults, but which its adherents think is "different this time" because there's no magic man in the sky. The last 15 years of this nonsense are a frightening insight into a not insignificant population that lacks the desire to engage in critical thought, even when the ability and education for critical thought are present. I will even go so far to say they make the case for the existence of religion as a way to corral and direct people whose motivations and survival strategies revolve around being on "Team Morality Police". Some really smart person a long time ago saw this and realized they had to direct that energy toward pro-social causes, and an organized religion was an efficient way to do it. After all, you see what happens when they're left to their own devices and their 'churches' are twitter and bluesky.

The left exploit minorities in order to present themselves as something really great, they basically don't care about you, they're only interested in elevating themselves morally and acting as a mouthpiece for everyone. In return, you have to give them your voice and confirm what great people they are.

In 2011, Occupy Wallstreet was a protest that everyone agreed on. In 2012, propaganda was legalized. The big wigs at the top want us to fight each other and not them.

My experiences were mostly based in freelance, but I've had friends who often gripe about how women are promoted with break neck speed through the industry. They get hired on as a runner, 2 weeks later they're a junior something rotoscoping basic shapes or laying out UVs. A month later they're in the production pipeline despite barely having any ability to manage their own work load, 6 months later they're a senior something and think they actually deserve it because at this point their rotoscoping and UV layouts are actually okay. Then like 18 months to 2 years in they're a producer, and growing jaded because they believe nobody is listening to their ideas or taking them seriously because they're a woman. When in reality the reason people are being dimissive is because they know she would still be texture painting hubcaps. or worse (assuming she had even been hired at all), if she didn't have a vagina.

My opinion... Well, lets just say that i am anti-woke/DEI to a high degree. As for whether it should be merit-based i will just point to Valve making 19 mil in profits per employee. But at the same time one shouldnt be prioritized due to past merits but judged by his new merits at new work. Sure, past merits are important but people change.
