What I think you mean is the blocks spawning above the player, that fall down towards the ground. This is done with unity by using a function called "Instantiate" (docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Object.Instantiate.html). This basically means that it takes an object (either a prefab or an already made object in the scene) and spawns this where you want. If you want to learn more about it I suggest looking up "Instantiate unity" on youtube. Or if you'd like to just make primitives, you can also use "CreatePrimitive" (docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/GameObject.CreatePrimitive.html). If you need anymore help let me know, but the fun part about programming (for me atleast) is also finding out stuff like this by yourself and having a accomplished feeling.

Thanks for watching! Here are the steps: -Create a particle system -Give it a gravity of about 0.6 -Make it emit in a sphere -Turn off rate and make it burst with around 15 - 30 as the amount -Turn on collisions and make sure they are world -Find a good amount of dampening/ bounce After you've done that mess around with the size/speed of the particles :) If you get lost have a look on the Unity documentation as it should show you all of the particle properties. Hope this helps!

This is pretty impressive. I'd love to see more so you've defo got my sub! I am quite a new developer, recently gone through a complete career change. My meat and potatoes at the moment is development of business web apps, however the thought of short duration projects to break up the huge projects I am doing professionally has me salivating (and can only strengthen my portfolio). Are you selling the game you demonstrated here? What sort of revenue are you expecting to generate, if any? (I'm trying to ascertain whether the hit to my revenue by doing short duration small game projects may at all be offset by said small project). What sort of experience levels have you got with C#? Did you train formally or self teach?
@MatthewPalaje7 жыл бұрын
Thanks SF123! That's great! I hope the career change works out well. These simple games are mobile games with ads, I have three of them out at the moment but never did proper marketing as I just wanted them for portfolio work at the time of developing them. If I did promote them and the ads were being watched/clicked on they would be able to generate revenue. For my upcoming game I am expecting revenue but going the PC route not the mobile free to play with ads route. I've used C# for 4 years, I'm self taught and did formal teaching for 2 years at a college. Most of my skills are self taught but I have used resources such as Sebastian Lague in the past for specialised topics such as AI or procedural generation. Sebastian Lague: kzbin.info

Hi Matthew and great job btw! Keep it good!. I was wondering if you could answer me a couple of quistons? 1_ How do you do to make the cube rotate like in your game? 2_ How do you make the red particles that come out from the cube when it's moving? Keep it great dude! greetings from Argeintina!
@MatthewPalaje8 жыл бұрын
Thanks heaps Agustin! 1. To make the cube rotate like that you have to use RigidBodies. I gave my cube a rigidbody and did not constrain any of the rotation axis. After that I use code to move it left/right, so RigidBody.AddForce, with enough force applied the cube will flip over! 2. I made a particle system and made sure it was set to world not local. This way the particles move with objects and trail nicely. After that I made the particle system a child of the cube. Best of luck! If you work on anything good make sure to post it!

Can you please post the values you used? I am following your suggestion of using rigidbody and addForce but I can't make it that smooth just yet. I've tried to modify my code in different ways and I also tweaked values myself but it still doesn't work. It rolls but it also slides a little bit and in general is too bulky and slow or too fast and light meaning that it feels like paper that just flies away. Btw this video is the reason why I started working with unity so thank you a lot for that and keep it up with these motivational videos even though now you have moved to Unreal. Thanks dude!

Wow! I love the look of it. It is all "out of the box"?
@chambers_7 жыл бұрын
It isn't, unfortunately. Post-processing FX were probably using Unity's new PP Stack. However, the actual art for trees, background, etc. were all custom. Unity doesn't include beveled boxes, and the trees look like a point that was extruded in blender then skinned before adding in leaf boxes. So, no it wasn't really out of the box artistically. That being said, all the coding used features that come with the engine, and physics were done with the default Rigidbody component.

Howdy! I soon be developing free games. Can you please please please answer my questions. 1. What kind of program did you use to make the game? 2. Can you make other shapes not just cubes?
@trippyy27677 жыл бұрын
BBT Management Howdy, I'm 95% sure the person was using Unity, a free game engine, but does have some paid options, which changes little to nothing. Also for your second question - yes. You should use modelling softwares to get customised shapes like the trees and stuff (although scary, its really easy, coming from an 11 year old). Once you save your models in the modelling software, it should pop up in Unity. Don't think you have to go model a cube or basic shapes all the time, unity has a few of the basic shapes, like a cylinder, sphere, a capsule and I think a pyrimid too, the person in the video used a default cube for the game actually! Now there's soooo much to explain like box colliders, rigidbodies and blender (a modelling software) so make sure to watch some toturials, I recommend watching Brackeys "How to make a video game in unity" series, where he'd discuss most of your questions, I hoped I kind of helped!

I appreciate your wish to inspire devs, but there's a risk that someone will think they can make a mobile game like this in two days and needlessly feel inferior when they don't. You should include in the video the asterisk* stuff, such as graphics, music, added work after upload. Maybe a good topic for another video? (Just link if it happened.)
@MatthewPalaje7 жыл бұрын
Hey Gun Tech, all of the games content was done in 1 day. Anything after the upload was one bug fix as my friend found out you could fly over the walls haha. The only reason this game took 2 days was because I underestimated the time it would take to get it uploaded and published onto the store. In terms of the risk and feeling inferior, I like to respect everyone. I want people to try and strive to be their best and I believe even if you don't quite get the result you wanted everyone learns so much along the way. I'm not really concerned as I hope that people will be proud of the progress they have all made no matter how long it takes. I can understand the concern but this was my approach when I was teaching professionally for 2 years and I had great results.
@GunTech7 жыл бұрын
I meant prep time searching for graphics/music/sfx to buy should be included, and the 4 updates have also taken time. For just the Android store and no video preview, it's very hard to get under 2 hours for finalization/(re)upload/icons/form filling/feature graphic even if you make them subpar or simple. Ad implementation/registration adds to that, etc. This is without hitting a snag(tm). If you solved those snags when you uploaded an app last week, you spent that time googling the snag then. If you didn't, that time will have to be spent on top of the 2 days to successfully upload. For monetization, ad networks are dead. Freemium and rewarded video ads are pretty much the only option these days.
