Sometimes it feels like they're incompetent on purpose to drive engagement. Literally fumbling buttons regularly, no concept of common RPG strategies (like healing and exploring) despite mentioning they've played Pokemon often enough to be sick of it, missing visual cues, not understanding directions as they're being given to them. Thank goodness the comedy commentary is frequently peak.

Don't take my word for it, but I believe that's the point of their show, where comedic commentary takes precedence over gameplay. And IIRC, they mentioned this a couple times in their episodes, though, I don't remember which ones. You could argue their gameplay "literacy" falls short compared to other comedic let's players, but I'm not going to delve into that. This is just what I could gather.

You guys never do the timed hit to block, which basically halves the amount of damage you receive. If you’re bent over a barrel and getting tired of it, try blocking lol.
