I'm inclined to both agree and disagree. Arin's chemistry with Jon was unique. Jon era grumps was incredibly loose and unhinged. I mean, there was about 100% more close up mic screaming lol. I don't think I'd say stronger simply as much as I would different. Both are legitimately great.

I love Jon. Have for some years now, but I agree. I feel like Danny is a much better addition to the show, mainly because him and Arin always seem to be on the same level. Jon and Arin are just, two completely different personalities and opposites don't always attract.

Difference between Jon and Dan? Dan is very mellow and laidback, simply enjoying himself as Arin goes nuts. Pretty much the kid who laughs at the cat chasing its own tail. Jon is brutally honest and bombastic, often creating situations which makes Arin lose his mind. Pretty much the kid who ties something to the cat's tail.

It's not a matter of whose better between Dan or Jon. It's actually a matter of Dan being a better compliment to Arin more so than Jon. Thus, Jon is quite similar to Arin and their comedic style don't work well together. They just don't blend that well. Jon and Arin are both hilarious and amazing. But I feel like Dan is able to fill the holes in Arins comedic style and make it even more enjoyable. I mean just look at their "Sad hoshi joke"....it's absolutely insane how both of them were in perfect sync while joking. It's hard to believe it was not scripted. So in conclusion....Dan+Arin > Jon + Arin.

Then there's Crazy + Tame with Arin and Danny. Danny bounces off Arin well and helps feed his humor in a unique way. Neither is better or worse, it's taste. All you'll do is anger people pretending otherwise.

I started watching Game Grumps when Jon was the co-host, and I was really upset when Dan came on to take his place. I think it was actually their Shadow the Hedgehog playthrough that made me come back to it (because it was a favorite childhood game). Then I really came around and now I fucking love Dan! I think he and Arin have a better dynamic because Dan is a little more humble than Jon, and he and Arin really balance each other out. Plus Dan has lots of funny and cool stories and is just a really sweet, interesting guy! (Not to mention handsome as fuck and a good musician to boot). So I think it was all for the best and I'm so happy that I and the GG fans have accepted him into the family.

I started watching as soon as Dan joined the show, so I never really watched Jon's episode. I started watching some of the old episodes, and I can see why so many people like him. He's a funny guy. And I really enjoyed the content I found on his own channel. But I agree with you, Dan and Arin just work so much better together. Arin and Jon are funny guys on their own, and I'm sure they're good friends and I hope they still get together to play some games, but Danny was a fantastic addition. Another thing was that he didn't add in those crazy over the top edits Barry always did, but what a lot of people don't know is that they explicitly asked him not to do them, which was the main reason Barry stopped. He got overworked and stressed by the constant pressure of people expecting something crazy. In the beginning he did do some edits, because they explicitly asked him to.

I was not interested in game grumps until Dan joined, at first I thought that maybe I just didn't think it was funny before but then I saw/rewatched some of the Jon episodes. For me, I always felt uncomfortable when it came to Jon, he almost felt... disrespectful and rude. Maybe that's just his sense of humor, but he makes me feel the same sort of uncomfortable I feel around some of my coworkers. Dan never made me feel uncomfortable, neither did Arin actually. I guess Jon is just not the type of human I can mesh with personality wise

I watched it for a while because I knew who the two guys were beforehand, but after a while it was just two guys playing games and yelling at stuff. Then I was re-introduced to it some years later with some guy named Dan I'd never heard of. I was wary at first, but I really warmed up to the duo of Arin and Dan because of how they tended to tell interesting stories and complemented each other so well. Now I mostly watch for the two guys talking about life and stuff unless it's just something insane like Mario Maker or Battle Kid.

Jon had jontron before game grumps existed, it was because of some conflict in game grumps that he left to pursue that character fully.

The main reason was probably that Jon left without warning from one day to the other, hitting the entire fanbase like a freight train. Danny was not really known at this point, so everybody had to deal with a new person they never heard off before. Personally, I would have enjoyed a smoother way out of this stuff. For example, Jon explaining that he has to move and wants to work on JonTron again, but to introduce the new cast of GameGrumps they would play a round of Mario Party all together. But all we got was the short thing in the beginning, resulting in a shitstorm and stupid rumors why Jon actually left, e g. that he slept with Suzie and shit like that.

So the first time i was introduced to the grumps it was with Danny and Arin. And then when I saw the Jon tron episodes I was like "whose this dude". They're both really funny , but Barry is my favorite

+Jesus Chavez So many people say that Dan is better than Jon, but I honestly think it's that Dan and Arin just have a way better dynamic. Jon is funny as shit, but he didn't complement Arin as well since they're both kinda "GOOPLY DOOP IT'S GAM GROOMPS, THIS GAME SUX". Dan is sort of the straight man in almost all situations, which is why it's so funny when he gets as angry as Arin. He brings to the table what was missing in the first year of Game Grumps.

+Ian Haskell I agree wholeheartedly. Jon and Arin were too similar in personality, imo, so it felt like the same gamer saying the same jokes twice. With Dan around, you get someone who is able to balance out Arin's goofiness, so it actually feels like two gamers with their own senses of humor.

I love both Jon and dan and arin But I’m so glad Danny became a part of the team. If it wasn’t for dan I never would have been able to actually get to a point where I like Jon tron. And I do. Danny brings out the best in everyone

Jontron on his own show with his own script with his own comedy is complete gold, honestly him and arin had their moments, but they were kind of few and far between, they really were at their best when they were seperate. Arin and Danny on the other hand, go together like peas and carrots, they work so well together that there are so many unforgettable moments that I would die before I could name them all, their personalities just work so much better together.
