Such a major contrast to gamestores here. Over there everything is so nicely packaged, wrapped, and clean (let alone a massive collection). Here it feels like walking into a dungeon 90% of the time and usually are in pretty bad condition while charging 3x the price. Anyways, good man! keep it up!

Appreciate you stopping by the channel! I’m always amazed by the condition of old game boxes here 🤔especially considering a lot of them probably belonged to kids! I remember game hunting at value village back home and always just leaving depressed 😅 Also thanks for the encouragement! I promise not to disappoint 🫡

@@TryJapan Considering you haven't been here for a while, let's just say Value Village is even more disappointing with game hunting now since most scalpers get to it as soon as a store opens and buy it all up lol

I'm in japan right now. I've spent 2000 bucks so far. I would not recommend hard off hunting. I would recommend suragaya flagship in shizuoka, it made all my hard off visits completely obsolete. I could have bought everything in one place.
@TryJapan
@TryJapan Ай бұрын
@@atomiswave1971 that’s actually a really good recommendation 😊 If you’re not tapped out yet Surugaya also has a sister store called Momotaro kingdom. Wattman in Kanagawa is also good!

@@TryJapan I did one in chiba last year I found one game. The problem is it was August, hot as hell and getting a bus proved challenging. I think game hunters in japan are heroic if they don't drive it's very physical. I'm in Nagoya at the moment I am going to visit a lucky cat next. But ultimately yesterday's shizuoka visit was incredible I spent all my money before I even saw everything. It's huge it will take an hour just to brush over everything.

Dude! Nice video. I like the editing! Those PS1 screens really got expensive fast. And I would've bought that Pikachu N64 controller immediately! :D

This video is on fire. I love when you make longer then 5 minute videos. Always love hearing about your finds and seeing everything. The black and white GB was my very first hand held I ever played. Wow the Ps one monitor that's so cool and a gem to see even loose like you said. I know I would love to watch you restore old game consoles even though I don't fix them I still find it very fascinating to watch. I agree old Nintendo toys are just amazing. Sorry my comment is so long there was just so much to say.

Oh, man, I really appreciate that!😁😁 I’ve gotta keep striving to put the time in and create some longer videos ☺️ I actually filmed a few restoration videos but haven’t gotten around to editing them yet 😅 That Gameboy was such a wicked score and I couldn’t believe it! I appreciate the support 😁😁

Headed to Japan in a few months and looking for recommendations around Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka for retro game hunting hard offs and others.
@TryJapan
@TryJapan 20 күн бұрын
Hey! Thanks for reaching out! For Osaka I would definitely recommend renting a car (if you’re able to) because all of the hard offs form a big circle just outside of the city. If that’s not possible then you can still visit the book offs 😊 I would recommend staying away from the one right on the big shopping street next to namba station though - it’s generally crowded and overpriced imo. As for Tokyo you can’t really go wrong with any of the hardoffs outside of the main city. I would avoid the ones in Akiba, ueno, and Musashi koyama. However, if you only have time to visit a few shops in the main cities,I’d suggest making a small list of things you really want, but Be prepared to spend a bit more.

I'm going to japan within the next year. It's been rough to see that many say the deals are gone, but I'm glad there's still some great deals. I'm handy with repairs so I'll take advantage of the junk section for sure. Thank you for this video. Good luck with the channel man!

@Everything-Wii I have actually! They’re usually Nintendo Labo games without the cardboard to accompany them, but there have been a couple of exceptions! (Nothing absolutely crazy though) Maybe I’ll make a short about it 🤔🤔

Super nice video! I'm currently looking into Retro console from japan online because it might be cheaper for me. I've been on the hunt for a salvageable Gameboy DMG but the prices I've found online are around 50€ still. Wish I could go on site and check all the stores!

Thanks so much! I was very lucky to add this one to the collection, but unfortunately as you said the prices on these are going up too - probably in part because they’re region free 🤔 Keep your eyes open! I’m certain you’ll get one for a reasonable price, and you can always retro brute it if the shell is yellowed. Best of luck, and thanks again for tuning in!

Honestly it's people like you who are making the retro game market sky rocket even in Japan. Just because you live there doesn't make any bit of difference you're still an American. Same as us in America. So maybe if you stop buying s*** from hard off and putting it online for quadruple the price everything will be fine.
