I don't think class, humble is correct, just look at what he displayed after getting a silver medal. His captain, coach were just the same not great examples at all for the other team mates. They played well till then and were outplayed by South Africa. Time to grow some b.... and look forward to the challenge of the next 4 years.

A great player but not humble or classy...hes just too childish on the field his legacy will be tarnished by that behaviour. Hes lucky refs like him.

The class dynamics in the UK are holding back a significant number of potential recruits.
@fiveowaf454
@fiveowaf454 5 жыл бұрын
I don't think class has anything to do with it as such, given the current makeup of the England team. However, what could be described as "class" makes a big difference to whether you will be given an opportunity to play rugby as opposed to football in your formative years and where you go from there, undoubtedly those from more affluent backgrounds tend to attend the schools that play rugby. I don't believe anyone playing at club level would now not be selected if they are a good enough player based on any preconceived notions about who should play. When I was at a Grammar school in the 1970's rugby was the only sport available in the winter season, much to the disappointment of all those who were much more attracted to football, which had a much higher profile and representation on TV, while the UK has a large population the numbers percentage wise of people playing Rugby are relatively small, compared to say NZ.

MVP of the 2019 WC with Underhill a close 2nd. Their defence has taken the wind out of the oppositions offense big time. Loved the WTF look in Reed's eyes near the end of the NZ game. Quite different than his glare at the end of that silly dance they do to start the game. Go England!

Didn’t he go to a south west London private school? Where rugby is played? Wtf?
@timrogers2045
@timrogers2045 6 жыл бұрын
Yep, but again April, what he actually said, was that he initially went to a school where rugby wasn't played. Circa 2003 RWC. The headmaster at that school, said to him that he thought he would make a good rugby player, iprobably in light of Englands success at the 2003 RWC. Maro replied to his primary school headmaster that he might give rugby a crack, when he left that particular school to attend a secondary school that did play rugby. C'mon girl lol keep up.

Timothy Rogers it’s obviously implied with the highlighted quote about rugby not even ‘being part of the conversation’. That’s BS. He had the same start most of the English players had. It’s a meaningless quote. He’s played it for 12 years.

@@april-tui3524 Harrows intake starts at year 9, his formative years of rugby were at the (regular) prep school after primary school. He didnt get randomly signed up to Harrow, that rugby scholarship materialised out of the talent and potential displayed in those 3 years at the prep school, stop being bitter - the best players get scouted for those scholarships its that simple. I played school rugby in my local state school, I played club and was ok, but there was a natural talent who got recognised and went on to be inducted into the Wasps academy and Harrow. Could his parents afford to pay Harrow fees? No. Did he have any more opportunities than I did? No, he was simply better than me and supremely talented at the game.
