Another parallel between Greek stories and ASOIAF is that of Lyanna Stark and Helen of Troy. Their departures both started a bloody war, and years later people still have conflicting stories as to whether she was abducted or went of her own free will.

I just have to say, this is the best (and most concise) GoT Abridged episode yet! I love how it's not at all about Tyrion and is about pretty much anything else... which makes me think that THIS is the new GoT content we didn't know we need up until now. Amazing work Alt ;)

We do know what the people from Greek myths punished in the underworld did, in most versions of the myth of Tantalus he is punished for killing his own son, cooking him and then serving him to the gods for example.

Just in case you do read the comments; I just wanted you to know you're getting me through some really horrible revision for my finals. The abridged series content is a wonderful break and background noise and I really hope you keep it up for the whole series, and it gains as much attention as it deserves.

Great of u to keep finding Greek associations with ASOIAF!! So Tantalus actually ties in even with guest right! According to mythology, Tantalus was so arrogant that he stole ambrosia and nectar from the gods when they invited him to Olympus, and when a God-Party (!) went to face him at his house, he tried to "trick" them by serving them at the table.....his son!!!!.... Cut into pieces.....!!! he killed his son.....!!! And fed him to the gods in pieces.....!! The curse that fell upon him was said to "tantalise" his progeny for aeons, since Menelaos and Agamemnon and all these fun ppl are his kin!! and btw, the fruit was grapes! Another mofo that suffered in the afterlife was Syssifus: he had to push a rock up a mountain for eternity and once he reached the top the rock would just roll back down on him! Keep up the informative analyses, they are quite fascinating! ;) PS: Btw, person that would cut a knot instead of untying it: Alexander the Great, Gordian Knot! PS2: death drive, originally proposed by Spielrein, Freud called it "todestrieb".. Yes, Freud was a nutjob! PS3: yes, Greeks are creeps too!

33:05 I like how this is presented like they all genuinely think it's awesome and brave and badass they would kill an unarmed man half their size. But then again there was an unhealthy amount of fans that thought it was sooooo badass of Catelyn getting 12 random goons to all draw their swords on an unarmed man half their size. You'd think that'd be the definition of being cowardly.

You know, it's funny how consistently I've seen this pattern repeated on different ASoIaF channels. The creators insult Preston Jacobs, get a pretty big negative fan backlash, then rescind their sentiment at a later date. He is a *really* easy target 'cause (by his own admission) 50% of the shit he says is fuckin' bonkers, were talkin' totally fruit-loops here, but I also don't think people realize just how popular he is.
