You have to have some respect for Ser Alliser Thorne after this episode. Even though he's a total asshole to Jon and the rest in general, when it was time to defend the wall, he was the first to fight, he didn't command from a safe place, he led the attack himself in the front line and fought Tormund, probably the most dangerous of the wildlings. In a fit of honesty, he even agreed with Jon about his idea of ​​filling up the tunnel and explained to him what leadership was all about. You noted early in the episode that the theme of love was dominant. 🥰 The show definitely demonstrates how we turn to our personal cares when danger presents. The whole conversation about "sex" between Sam and Jon is nicely bookmarked by Sam kissing Gilly and Jon holding Ygritte. It always breaks my heart the way Jon just goes on autopilot at the end of the episode. He lost so much and was so tired, and he just...goes on autopilot. He doesn't care what happens to him going to Free Folk terrority unweaponed, he just has a mission and he's on autopilot to complete it

Honestly Ygritte is a character i barely remember, and her only utility was to be romantic pair of Jon and that gives him a different prespective. Her death, i was.... sure, why not! Move on! it didnt impact me. She was just there. They build between their looks, so we knew something would happen. I just assume, she would shoot the arrow at him, but not to kill him. Just missing like she did before, but this time it wouldnt go at him. Just a arrow in the air, in his direction. And because of this act, someone kill her. The kid may or not think he was saving Jon, but honestly i think he was just in revange mode. So he just wanted to kill wildlings. Ygritte was there, and he just kill her. Lets not forget about the hate this kid have for the wildlings had kill his parents and destroy his village.

The perspective that the wildlings are just regular people born on the wrong side of the wall, not bound to any ancestral oath of fealty and are just trying to escape the cold like everyone else, is literally what has morphed Jon's character into who he is today and becomes his driving motivation going forward into the story. I would say she was a pretty big part of his storyline.
