Emilia had two brain aneurysms while filming, right after season 1 and after shooting season 3. She talked about how she held onto Daenerys and her Dothraki and Valyrian lines to ensure she would stay conscious and her brain would remain working during the healing process. She said that Daenerys saved her life, literally. Season 2 was the season in that her acting was criticized the most, but she didn't reveal her aneurysms until years later even to the cast and crew. It was kept as a secret between a couple of people for quite a long time. She has been advocating for brain injury victims ever since and has a charity called SameYou. I just think she's so brave and soo strong

wait, did you guys never think to question why Prince Oberyn is referred to as Prince-and somehow not treated as a direct enemy of the crown? Dorne remains the only one of the seven kingdoms to retain its independence. The Targaryen Conquerers never managed to make them bend the knee-the Dornish Men even killed a dragon in the process. they didn’t submit until they chose to, and even then, it was due to a beneficial marriage pact. the Martell’s are also among the few families who ever married into the Targaryen dynasty; which says a lot, for a family who wanted to keep their bloodline pure

People seem to be confused about the Jaime/Cersei scene all over the board so let me clarify: They did not do it over their son’s body; Jaime “graped” her by her son’s body. You can have *ucked in the past…and it still be “grape”. Just because she allowed herself to receive the initial kiss doesn’t negate the part where, ya know, she came to her senses, and subsequently pushed him off..and continued to resist afterwards. The fact that some don’t recognize this is.. uncomfortable at the very least.

Yes, Dorne was the only kingdom capable of resisting Aegon's conquest, they were even able to kill a dragon on their own. In the time of House of the Dragon, Dorne is still an independent kingdom.

The Cersei-Jaime scene is such an unnecessary and disgusting change to the show, that added nothing. Jaime is one of the most complex characters in fiction, but there is nothing sympathetic about a spiteful man, r-wording his lover because he feels slighted. In the books the scene is dubious for sure, Cersei goes from kissing him, to pushing him away and telling him to stop, to begging him to keep going and telling him she loves him. Thought its framed as her worried about being caught and because she's on her period, notably the chapter is from Jaime's perspective not Cersei's, so we cant know what she was thinking but we know what Jaime is feeling and its NOT "I hate Cersei from making me love her and now I'm going to punish her for it" (edit: btw I'm not saying that Jamie has consent in the book, because again its incredibly dubious without knowing Cersei's perspective. Only that I get why people have different feelings on the scene in the book vs the show)

Really, there are two Westerosi Kingdoms that Aegon never conquered. Dorne & The Reach. The Reach stalemated Aegon army to army, even with Aegon’s 3 massive dragons, & eventually volunteered to join the united kingdoms, submitting to King’s Landing rule, to be apart of their unified economy. Drone took advantage of their desert biome to win against Aegon. Similar to how the Russian’s famously weaponized their naturally cold environment, Dorne did the same but with endless deserts & constant heat. The Dornish famously sent a raven letter to Aegon, the contents of which were never revealed to the audience, that caused Aegon to personally retreat back to King’s Lansing during his attempt to conquer Dorne. It’s speculated by the fans, that this letter informed him they had captured one of Aegon’s sister wives who at the time had gone missing, & they would kill her if he didn’t retreat. Dorne also later volunteered to join the united kingdoms to benefit from a unified trade agreement.

They very much embodied the “Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken” motto. Eventually, the only way Targs were accepted as Kings was by marrying into Dorne. Daeron brought Dorne peacefully into the realm by marrying Myriah Martell and his sister Daenerys married Maron Martell. The Princes and (Princesses) of Dorne were given rights like keeping their title. Oberyn is a Prince regardless that he’s not related to the family currently on the Iron Throne.

The Dornish were able to resist being conquered by avoiding battling head-on with the Targaryens. Whenever they invaded, the Dornish would burn their own crops and poison every well before withdrawing. They used gorilla war tactics as well, taking advanges of skinny mountain paths and bridges, would throw boulders and arrows down on the invaders. Only the dragons were able to win castles, all of which were retaken by the Dornish when Aagon and his dragon left. The first Dorish war lasted over 7 years. It was the Dorish who invented the scorpion (giant crossbow) that took down Meraxes, Queen Ryaenys dragon, killing them both. Aagon burned everything for it, but they still did not bow. It was only after the death of the Yellow Toad of Dorne, Princess Meria Martell, that her son and granddaughter began peace talks with the Targaryens, and Aagon signed a treaty of eternal peace with Dorne.

I always thought of dornish men as mandalorians from Star Wars. Proud elite warriors. As the Stark's words are "winter is coming" and Lannister's are "hear me roar", the Martell's words are "unbowed, unbent, unbroken" for they and the people of Dorne were the only of the Seven Kingdoms that Aegon the Conqueror could not defeat and subdue.
