The last scene with Dany and her 3 dragon babies always gives me goosebumps. Peak

One of the best fantasy scenes ever IMO. There are other scenes that probably have more dramatic heft to them, but just in terms of tone and what it portends for this world, it's phenomenal.
@jerodast21 күн бұрын
Obligatory "it's even better in the book" comment: In the book she declare each of her guards a bloodrider of her new khalasar. In turn, they each regretfully say a woman cannot be a Khal, but they will loyally accompany her back to Vaes Dothrak for her to join the other honored widows. She ignores each of their rejections and moves on to the next. After she emerges with the dragons, they all fall to their knees in awe, along with everyone else. (There's also some minor things about the size of the pyre and how they seem weirdly casual waiting to go in and see what remains of her after it burns out, but no big deal.)

You were right to recognize the guy who came to Arya’s defense and he did have a cool helmet, but he didn’t have anything to do with the jousting or knowing too much, I think you’re combining him with Ser Hugh (the guy who got stabbed in the throat in the joust) This one is the kid Ned went to go see at the blacksmith and figured out it was Robert’s bastard son.

Fun story, my brother tried to get me to watch game of thrones for a long time while the first season was coming out (went on for weeks). Basically said if I liked The Lord of the Rings, I would love it. Every episode is movie quality and has a great story. I went to watch an NBA game with him one night, went back to his place and watched the first episode at like 10 PM. After it was over, I looked over at him and said can we watch another? Long story short, I was hooked. I watched the entire first season in one sitting and drove an hour and a half back home on no sleep. Then I was hooked from then on out for S2 and on.

The reason it feels like a satisfying end is because the first season is pretty much an exact adaptation of the first book. Season 1 is an adaptation of A Game of Thrones, Season 2 is an adaptation of A Clash of Kings, and Seasons 3+4 are an adaptation of A Storm of Swords. After that it gets messier, but the first four seasons are very faithful to the books, for the most part.
@jerodast21 күн бұрын
Even season 1 misses a few details that would've been nice, but it is VERY tight. Season 2 I would argue starts to slip already, which I think you can attribute to the expansion of narrators and wider scope in the books; the show just can't quite keep up.

His father, Tytos, the started having low born mistresses. one of them became the semi-official lady of casterly rock, giving orders to servant, and wearing dresses and jewelry that belonged to tywin's mother. It was an ovbject of ridicule. Tywin kept a deep insecurity about low born women tarnishing the family's name

Here endeth the relationship with the book, its pretty much fan fiction from here. I think the only plot points missing from the first book, are, Roz doesnt exist, and Balon was not murdered by Euron. Id say 99% of book one is in the first series, so its pretty galling that the producers decided to reduce that for each series, by the time we get to series three, the series and the book are completely different.

@15:52: I find it hilarious that Pycelle is acting senile with Ros: he can 1/ pretend he is unsuccessfully looking for money to pay for her services (you will see that he loves the company of prostitutes and regularly tries to dodge payment) and 2/ gaslight her by boring her to death as he is fully aware that she is reporting back to Littlefinger and that every word he says is spied upon.

@randallwilliamson383821 күн бұрын
well the saying is life pays for death, but drogo and the baby were already dead, so they could not have paid for life.
@ccispahan751421 күн бұрын
@ No, you are confused. ‘Only death may pay for life’. This is what Mirri initially tells Daenerys about blood magic. The show repeats word for word their dialogue in the books. The last time we hear it is when Mirri is tied to the pyre and she says ‘You will not hear me scream’. Daenerys answers ‘ I will, but it is not your screams I want, only your life. I remember what you told me. Only death can pay for life.’ And the deaths connected to the dragons’ birth are indeed Drogo, Rhaego and Mirri’s. Cf the first book: "They had been born from her faith and her need, given life by the deaths of her husband and unborn son and the maegi Mirri Maz Duur" - Dany's thoughts about her dragons.

Why wouldn’t Tywin want Tyrion to bring Shae with him to Kings Landing? Maybe the whole story about how Tyrion married a whore had something to do with it? Maybe the fact that bringing a woman who isn’t your wife to court, let alone a whore, is something that the nobles of the realm would frown and look down upon? For Tywin, the honor, strength, and reputation of his house is paramount and having the acting Hand of the King publicly associating with prostitutes would not be a good look for House Lannister.

@riotinvictus21 күн бұрын
Did you watch the show? It’s unfair to blame all of it on Sansa. She was a child and betrothed to Joffrey so of course she’s going to stay neutral. If we think about it the real person at fault was the person that ordered Arryn’s death. It was the domino effect that started the war between the Lannisters and Starks not Sansa telling a white lie
@Bensonders21 күн бұрын
@riotinvictus she didn't stay neutral, why are you lying? She told the truth to her father beforehand. But then she lied to the king. How is that neutral? Joffrey tried to kill Mycah and Arya. So Sansa betrayed her own family infront of the king. How is that neutral? Robert was a just king, not afraid to punish the guilty, even if its his "son". And the immediate consequences of Sansas actions are that her direwolf gets killed and Mycah gets brutally murdered and flayed.
