I tried to watch this series few years ago. This episode alone was too much for me, the beheading, the violence and sexual content, so I stopped at this episode. But then came the pandemic. I'm just done last month and I love it. It took me years to be ready to actually watch it.😄

Welcome to GOT summer children. Use subtitles. It will help with all of the names, places, dates, and events. Pay attention to the dialogue. It is more important than the action and events on screen, and there is plenty of things that will happen. I know you've been told, but don't grow attached to any character. Pay attention to the opening credits. It will show you where in Westeros the events of the episode will happen. Don't worry about any early confusion, all will be revealed. Remember, the name of the show is "Game Of Thrones", not "Game Of What I Want To Happen". Get a moderator. That will help weed out spoilers. Most of us in the community hate to spoil the show for you, but you will run into idiots, or those who mistakenly say too much. So, buckle up guys. The ride will be bumpy. In the books, Daenerys Targaryen is 13, in the show, 16, Jon Snow is 14/16, Robb Stark is 14/16, Arya 9/11, Sansa 11/13, Bran 7/10, Viserys Targaryen, 21/21. Some of their actions and dialogue in the show may seem puzzling but remember, that dialogue was written for very young boys and girls.

Good write-up, but I'd leave out the warning to not get attached to characters. Get attached! I wanna see the crash and burn! lol. But also it's more fun for the viewer, too. Also, to add on a bit, I think Daenerys is around 18 or so in the show, and Emilia Clarke, the actress, was 21 or 22. They bumped the ages up a bit for the show for obvious reasons

Good choice Vince and Shoshana, thanks for choosing this show! I, myself, started late with the show when it was nearly at the end; but it became one of my favourites, because it has all the elements: drama, action, mystery, action, politics, suspense, humour, but above all (in comparison to other “action/fantasy” shows it has beautiful dialogues and great acting. Because of the many storylines, places and names (of people, houses, places,…), some reactors take notes. I think I should have done that. Sometimes the show can be hard to watch especially for anyone with a great feel for justice and some scenes are that brutal that you just have to look away. You just have to wait/watch for silver linings. I wish you a great journey, warm regards from the Netherlands!

First, always watch the intro because the map will teach you where everyone is in each episode and what places you’ll see during the episode. The Targaryens are the white haired brother and sister. Their father was king before Robert Baratheon and the brother you don’t trust wants it back. That’s why he sold his little sister to Kahl Drogo. He needs an army to try and get the throne. The Starks run the north. Ned stark is the warden of the North. The Night’s Watch are men who man the “wall.” They’re the guardians of the realm. The two getting it on in the tower are actually twins. Robert was betrothed to Ned’s sister but she died before they could wed so he married Cersei. Definitely use subtitles and even take notes. The politics and storylines are very complex and there are a LOT of characters. This world keeps expanding with every episode. Enjoy!

I look forward to this journey you have started and I intend to be here all the way. As you saw in this first episode there is action, gory stuff, implied sex, back-stabbing both literally and figuretively, political intrigue and battles. For some people it takes getting used to but hang in there, hopefully you will become so involved with the story lines and the character that you can't wait for the next episode. Yes, Queen Cersei and Jaime are both lovers and sister and brother. In the show, Daenerys (the white haired girl who gets married to the horse lord) is 17. (13 in the books). Most characters are slightly older than they are in the books, (40ish seeming than the 30ish they should be), or also the young adults and kids, who are about four years older, for all the sex scenes, but also for having the child actors being old enough to be able to do the job.

Awesome reaction. Just subscribed. Get ready for the rollercoaster ride of emotions. Some advice subtitles are very useful and they will help to get familiar with the names of all the characters. I never took notes I just rewatched..a lot... The intro Map shows you were the different places the Episode takes you... Daenerys if memory serves is only 16 or 17 years old. Jon Snow and Robb Stark are 16 or 17 as well. Sansa Stark is 13 Arya Stark is 11 or 12 Brandon Stark is 10 Rickon Stark is 6 There are 4 main Houses in the Series House Stark Ned and his family House Lannister Queen Cersei, Jamie and Tryion House Targaryen Daenerys and her brother Viserys House Barthroeon King Robert and his 2 brothers Renly and Stannis Believe me there are lots more characters but you will get it... One more bit of advice, I have heard from some other reactors watching these Episodes like every 2 to 3 days is better than watching them once every week or 2. Enjoy✌👍

Like most shows on "premium" channels they hook you with the shock values and the nudity but that gets watered down after a while. In fact, I think there more nudity in the first season than the last three or four combined. ;-) Plenty of violence, though. It'll be a fun ride. Cheers.

Every word spoken, Every scene is important. Stories told and all. Pay attention to everything. It's a lot to take in and will take a lil bit to learn names and places.. subtitles On will make it easier and for 1 specific language. Patience is needed with this story. Enjoy the show. Ill be 👀

Thank you. It is soooooo annoying. GOT is a fantasy show in a fantasy world that just has elements from medieval times. It is NOT meant to take place in actual historical medieval times. This is where people get demoralized from the show because they try and place our morals and rules and context on to the characters. But GOT has it's own established rules, morals and boundaries. It is laid out to you as the show develops. Unfortunately.... Nope. I am not going to talk about seasons 7&8. Nope!!
