I can hardly believe that, in the first place, such a composition exists; but that it's done so well, and beyond that that it's narrated by the actual actors, and this has such low viewership? It's like some amazing gem even years after ...

Yeah dude. The amount of care and dedication that went into the early seasons of the show is a big part of why it is so hard for me to stomach the later seasons, which were the opposite. But still, you have to give them credit for the amazing work they did do in the early years. Videos like this, the fact that they wrote an entire language for the Dothraki that you could literally learn on Babble or Duolingo, it was incredible.

That's a show invension, they have no trouble with their mines and besides, Targaryens weren't rich just by gold. They held strong trade port of Lannisport, were the most important landing for tradeships with Oldtown and had a well established dominion over trade as well. Lannister wealth, is a mixture of strong leadership, well established family system that is lead by Tywin or his predecessors, and oppurtunistic political schemes George identifies them with. Tywin's how show of strength, nobility and order is fake though, he pretends he doesn't sleep with whores like Tyrion, he pretends he is some well established battle commander, even though his success is literally caused by tricks and brutality most people would not resort. Robert Baratheon is the battle commander in Westeros, which is why he sat on that Iron Throne, wheras Tywin, tricked Aerys into opening his gates to then massacre his city, Tywin never won a battle against Robb, but he just murdered them in a wedding feast and manipulated Robb to break his allience with Freys Even his Saviour of King's Landing title that was bestowed upon him by Joffrey is a lie, it was Tyrion who organised the city's defences, he set up chains to guard the bay, he set Blackwater Rush afire, he reformed and reestablished the City Watch, he brought sellswords from all the surrounding lands while Tywin was ignoring the Baratheon trap and was trying to pass to his own lands, leaving the city to Stannis

Game of Thrones shares philosophical view with many other works of fiction and fact. And that is that absolute power corrupts absolutely. Every single person on GoT who truly goes psycho and starts having people killed, and in very brutal ways. And while the Mad King"s actions, the bullying of Viseris (spelling?), and the genocide of Kings Landing by Dany show the Targareons part in it. But plenty of other rules have been cruel (at best) to full on sadistic. Stannis had so many burned alive, and even used blood sorcery to kill his own brother, and blaming it all on the Red Woman is a joke because she didn't put a gun... technically a crossbow... to his head to do it. Every Ironborn ruler, as well as their underlings, are raping murderers. Last but not least definitely are Ramsey and Jeofrey. I don't think I need to even being to explain them.

This series kinda illuminates why GoT is better than HoTD (and I do love that series, too). There were many actors on GoT whose characters were very fleshed out and you cared about them-- even peripheral characters like Maester Luewin. The lesser characters on HoTD have not mattered to me, even a few of the HoTD mains are just not as developed as they were on GoT.

Watching these amazingly atmospheric vignettes, makes me so sad at how the Song of Ice and Fire ended - it could have been a true classic of both screen and literature. And it all ended on such a soar note, with the books almost certainly to remain forever unfinished: and as a result of running out of cannon-material: the TV series concluding in such a hurried, messy and unsatisfying way.

@@magganon yeah, they couldn't afford him, the show had a very small budget back then. That's why there wasn't any CGI in the whole season, outside of a few seconds of backdrops of castles or kings landing or whatever, static shots that were very cheap to produce. Nothing like the huge long scenes featuring dragons that the later seasons got. Even in the 2nd season where the battle of the blackwater happened, they couldn't include everything they intended to include, because of the huge expense of CGI, like they didn't include the giant chain that was a huge plot point in the book. So it's hardly surprising they couldn't afford Sean Bean for what was something barely anyone would ever see.

Magi Tail Welkin whoa?! Your correct. There were 40 of them. Damn, I hope George explains more about old Valeria in detail before he retires from writing. I gave up on JRR Tolkien books because there were many things that was still left unsaid. God rest his soul. But I just hope George really goes into detail in the future. Fingers cross!

@@thomasjones4306 I kind of had the same view as with Terry Pratchett, I regret I never read a Discworld until after he died. Also, in Fire and Blood there's House Weatherwax, I'm convinced that's Discworld reference, but Martin's references as more involved than just a name.

and Ned treated Jaime like shit even though Jaime executed a King that tortured his brother and father and was planning to burn hundreds of thousands of people. if that's dishonorable then being dishonorable is better than being honorable.

Ned did not know about the wildfire. He didn't know that the Mad King was going to burn King's Landing. Ned probably thought Jaime just did it because the Targs were losing, because in his mind if you did it because you were disgusted by Aerys behavior and not because of selfish reasons then why did Jaime not backstab Aerys when he was executing people. Just saying you have to keep in mind perspective.

To see all sides, the horror of war, the madness of Aerys from Jamie’s perspective.. The justification Robert has for what Tywins forces did to the city & the royal family isn’t really a justification, acceptance of brutality…

Ok so Robert goes on and on about how cool Lyanna was and how much he loves her but like...did he even KNOW her??? I mean she was spirited and wild and whatnot but did Robert ever even talk to her 😂? Robert Baratheon is (especially in the show) a really fun character but GOD do I hate him. He literally ruined a whole ass marriage to Cercei Lannister, the most beautiful woman in the seven kingdoms for a girl he was betrothed to who probably didnt even like him. Cercei did like him in the beginning, he was good looking and a great warrior, but on THEIR WEDDING NIGHT this asshole literally got drunk and called Lyannas name, like??? Dude wtf you are marrying a beautiful, rich woman who actually likes you (this is an arranged marriage so what more do you want?) And you fuck it all up because you miss a girl you talked to like twice who was kind of hot and liked swordfighting? 😂😂Lol ok.

Robert and Ned were friends for almost their whole lives. It’s not inconceivable that Lyanna was around for a lot of that. He most definitely saw and spoke to her at tourneys like at Harranhal

Read the books, and read some theories on it, and be awed that the most of it is actually hidden under subtext, like First Men breeding with Lovecraftian deep ones, or green men. Garth The Green who is referred as Garth the Greenhand here, was probably a green man who established the first kingdom in Westeros, and sired most of the nobility. The Night's King(Not the NK in the show), actually bred with white walkers and ruled north for 17 years or so, from the Wall itself. At the far east, there's a kingdom called Yi-Ti, and it looks like they are decended from Empire of the Dawn, which caused the very Long Night itself

Yes this is official, it came as bonus content with the GOT dvd box sets. You don't have to watch all the lore to watch the show, as a lot of this stuff is mentioned in the show and you understand what's going on. I suggest watching the show first before all the lore, so you can understand who the narrators are

Totally agree! However I did come to like his character, if only in the sense that he was necessary in a way for Daenerys’ character development and he is understandable, albeit he just allowed himself to continue in a negative, downward spiral. He still turned out to be a strangely like-able character!
