Most of Martin's characters tend to be various shades of gray. It's very rare to find any pure "white hats" or "black hats" among them... everyone has flaws, some quite serious, and everyone has at least some minor redeeming quality. Even the secondary and fringe characters tend to be multi-dimensional.

You see when he revealed the story about why he killed the mad king that he was always trying to do the right thing, but combined with everyone condemning him for it, plus Cersei's bad influence, he said, okay, I will live up to that reputation. But Brienne is so honorable it's bringing out his honorable good side again.

As much as you, and everyone (rightfully) hates Joffery, the young man who played him, Jack Gleeson, was said to be one of the sweetest and kindest beings on the set. It saddens me that the hate this young man received was so much that he Quit Acting for about a Decade!! It really speaks to the quality of an actor where you can Forget that the person you see on the screen doesn't exist. He did such a good job in evoking such emotion from everyone.

Amber you really got to start reacting to the season lore and histories episodes of GoT (theres one for every season, voiced by the actual actors in the show), those give a lot of context to the politics and history of the houses and white walkers and old valyria (where the dragons came from)

You should probably recognize Daario, Dany's new heartthrob. He played Francis / Ajax in Deadpool. The knife Sam used is made of dragonglass - essentially melted rock forged of dragon's fire. It's more or less obsidian, but in the world of Westeros, it's magically infused with dragon's breath. Also, you are not ready for episode 9. Double drop that one with 10 as well.

Others have pointed out, and so have you, all the characters have shades of gray and they change over time: The Hound, Theon, Jon, Tyrion, Jaime, Daenerys, even Cersei. I think Daenerys may have changed the most so far. Things in the seven kingdoms have changed so much since the first season. So the characters have to change. If they don’t adapt, they’ll die. Don’t worry, there are plenty more changes in store: mostly bad, but there is some good too.

What you call "Head Hancho guys" are White Walkers. The other things are just undead. Dead that reanimate to fight for the White Walkers. And yes the weapon used to kill it was Obsidian, or what they call Dragon Glass. And yes they're were more daggers made of that found when they dug it out. More to the point it's the material which can be duplicated into bigger weapons if they can find more of it.
