A pretty funny thing they left out of the show is that it is theorized that Oberyn actually poisoned Tywin before Tyrion killed him with his crossbow, because throughout Tywins funeral he gets all bloated and pushes out nasty smelling gasses and his body makes the whole funeral smell so foul and EVERYBODY notices. It turns out that in the end, Tywin Lannister in fact did NOT shit gold. 🤣🤣

I love this theory! There is a poison described in the books called Widow’s blood which “shuts down the bowels until the person dies from their own poisons”. That’s why he was found on the toliet, he was constipated. And why his body smelled so horrible, he was literally full of shit. And Oberyn is very knowledgeable with poisons so it makes sense.

The Dornish had cave systems that they would flee to whenever dragons would attack them. Dorne has the perfect landscape to fend off dragons. And if an army came to Dorne, they could also use their terrain to their advantage. Imagine the Dornish as the Vietcong in this scenario lol.

The Targaryens definitely tried to conquer the Dornish with dragons, specifically during Aegon's Conquest, but they failed miserably, with the Dornish killing Aegon the Conqueror's sister Rhaenys and her dragon Meraxes. Also Aegon the Unworthy was the 4th Targaryen King named Aegon. The first was Aegon the Conqueror, the second was Aegon the Elder, the third right after him was Aegon the Younger, and of course the 4th was Aegon the Unworthy, followed decades later by Aegon the Unlikely. Yeah that is Ser Barristan their talking about when they say Barristan the Bold. House Baelish is an actual House, it's just a very small house that owns one tiny little castle.

The quote I always go back to in a GOT( or HOTD) conversation is “if you think this has a happy ending, you haven’t been paying attention”. You are correct it’s a time period we’ve already heard about and kinda know how it “ends” but you’ve gotta go into it with a historical mindset. You are witnessing the story and the lives and choices that lead to the world we were first introduced too. The raw, chaotic, and unfair world that George RR created is the thing that is the most gravitating in my opinion. I understand the dislike of the idea of dragons dying and fading from the world but that is just part of the stones that creates the road.

Lord Hoster was mad because the Tullys were trying to wed the Starks to forge a political alliance. Baelish killing the Stark heir in a duel would’ve screwed this plan over tremendously. Also, Baelish is a legitimate noble house. The great grandfather from Braavos was knighted and then acquired land. A landed knight is the lowest form of nobility so he would have established a house name at that point. The Corbrays are also a very powerful house, so for them to invite him from Essos, he must’ve had a good reputation prior to coming to Westeros

My man, you’re gonna love the spin-offs. Btw, I don’t say this often because they are big books, but with your love of the material and interest in detail, I’m confident you’d love the books. Maybe “Fire and Blood” and “The World of Ice and Fire” even more so, those are history book and kinda encyclopedia. Ps: the theme of not quite knowing the absolute truth, everything coming from characters’ perceptions and biases, is taken straight out of the books. Those history books are opened with the announcement they are written by specific historians with certain biases. GRRM love mirroring the real world and this is how our histories are. This is also why they recycle names, just like real European royalty.

"3 Moons" refers to Moon cycles. So, you're close it's the entire cycle of all the phases. Which takes about a month. So, "3 moons" is basically equivalent to 3 months.

The civil war, Dance of the Dragons, is being shown in the Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, based on the Fire and Blood books. The 2nd season came out this year, and we're waiting for season 3 in 2026. Season 4 is reportedly the last. Highly recommend watching after GoT.

Lol on the Pycelle-Oberyn poison bit. After his duel to first blood, he was exiled temporarily from Dorne by his brother (who was Prince of Dorne), to appease the angry nobles. Oberyn then spent a couple of years at the Citadel (Maesters headquarters) and even forged a maesters links. So Oberyn probably did complete his education of poisons at the same place Pycelle did.

I know you probably don't wanna read the books. But just for the lore, you can read "A World of Ice and Fire". For more in-depth Targaryen history, you can read "Fire and Blood" (though it isn't complete and idk if George will release the part 2 of F&B). You probably won't read it, but if you will, I'd wanna see your reaction and hear your thoughts, because the worldbuilding is indeed crazy. There are also unexplained mysteries in history, and places barely explored where creatures are just chilling (and deadly). The myths of the different gods are cool, some of which could seem real given the setting. And yes, it would make a great video game. Imagine an open-world where you can explore Westeros and Essos.

The worst part about Aemon The Dragonknight dying for Aegon The Unworthy, is that they were brothers and Aegon tried to disinherit his only trueborn son (Daeron) by falsely claiming that Aemon was Daeron's real father. Aegon preferred one of his bastard sons, Daemon, which is one of the reasons why he legitimized all his bastards on his deathbed. He even gave Daemon, the ancestral Valyrian steel sword of House Targaryen (Blackfyre) to Daemon, which is how House Blackfyre was formed. Daeron eventually became King, and earned the title Daeron The Good, as it was he who brought House Martell into the Seven Kingdoms. Daemon would eventually wage rebellion against Daeron alongside one of his bastard half-brothers (Bittersteel). Another half-brother (Bloodraven who was a fierce rival to Bittersteel) sided with King Daeron. Bloodraven would 100+ years later be the three-eyed-raven that Bran meets in the Season 4 finale.

Baelish would count as a "lesser House" or a minor lord. It is true enough that a lot of lords (especially high lords) acquired their title by being "noble or noble adjacent", as you say (many of them, in this world at least, were former kings from within what became known as "the Seven Kingdoms"), but a new lordship, or minor lordship, can be granted to someone, in much the same way as a knighthood, if the King favours them enough (which also used to be true of peerages and knighthoods in British history, until relatively recently).

It is all metaphor. Sand refers to the land, as in Dorne rejected the Targaryens. He is saying even the land of Dorne said "no thank you." 😂😂😂 Actually, the Targs attempt to conquer Dorne is explained in other histories and lores. And of course in the books.

Even these lore videos should be taken with a pinch of salt as they are the point of view of a particular narrator. The maesters are far more powerful than Qyburn gives them credit for but the Valyrian steel link that involves the glass candles. Sadly these glass candles are left out of the show but the fact that Maester Luwyin at Winterfell DID have a Valyrian steel link, suggests that he had figured out how to use a glass candle

Not all of Bronn's info about the Targaryan Civil War (aka Dance of the Dragons which is portrayed in the series House of the Dragon) is accurate. The Kingsguard who crowned the son instead of the daughter was named Ser Criston Cole, and he never swore to crown the daughter (Rhaenyra) because he was a bitter, spurned lover of hers and was all for doing anything to NOT see her ascend the Iron Throne.
