@@purplebean7 I think it’s not a big deal. The way the story seems to have gone is that the games aren’t necessarily exact depictions of events, but are possibly based on real events. It’s a cop out in a way telling us that anything we’ve seen can be retconned without any more explanation other than, “it was faked to cover up the real story” Even like he says at the end: FNaF 1-4 might be all dreams, but it doesn’t mean that every individual thing we hear about is a dream. The problem is that we don’t know what pieces are part of the dreams and what pieces aren’t. Maybe the entire thing is a dream, but I also agree with him that the death minigames make zero sense if thats true. And while writing that last comment, I decided to do a bit of research- the Atari 2600 was the most popular gaming console in the year 1982 before the video game crash of 1983… Fredbear and Friends 1983… maybe it wasn’t a cartoon. Maybe it was a game for the Atari 2600. I think that detail may have been overlooked because it’s hard to tell what is an Atari game and what isn’t when the minigames are Atari style games already. How do we know whether the Fredbear and Friends 1983 thing on the TV is a game or a cartoon? But it would kinda explain it. Hmm… I really wish Scott would explain his original design for the story :( I want to know how all the pieces were supposed to fit together originally.

To this day, I still think this video cracked it. Finished off the story, completed its lore. But Scott saw this and realised we figured it out sooner than intended, so he made more games and added more secrets, names and animatronics etc to keep us going.

Well, at the time, it’s very possible that he DID connect the dots, but Scott said in that post about the box that the story would disappoint people if put together, and he said that he’s retconned what’s inside of the box, meaning that the lore has (probably) changed from being a dream to being real. I think it's a little of both. Scott has a *very* vague outline of events and drops a few clues, but mostly just seems to put in whatever he thinks is cool/spooky. MatPat then takes everything super seriously and explains why nothing makes sense, so Scott goes in and adds other, even more complicated clues, leading to even more advanced theories, leading to more complex games, in a never-ending loop
