I'm so glad I have hundreds of the best 80s 90s and early 2000's NBA NFL MLB players cards I've had pack fresh, penny sleeved, top loaded, for 20 30 40 years that are worth barely anything cuz the collecting and grading world 🌎 went NUTS 💀 So awesome

Other than Topps saying to PSA "these where in his pocket" how does PSA know they are? They can't tell the damage was from the game, they where not there, So the "authentication" is meaningless and shows that PSA are just doing whatever Topps want, that should set alarm bells for collectors.

I just started sorting a PSA sub I received back today. The new slabs feel great in hand. I compared a 2020 J Love optic holo I received today versus a 2020 Burrow optic holo I subbed a few years ago- the new slab is 0.55 ounces heavier, or about 22-23%. The plastic on the front and back is crystal clear, it’s remarkable how much cleaner they look than the older ones. They definitely have a sturdier feel. I really like them. I think it’s a great change without changing too much. Oh, and they stack well with the old ones too.

This is precisely why collectors in the UK and Europe have been crying out for a PSA satellite office for years.....and PSA have largely continued to ignore us. If they truly want to 'grow the hobby' in league with Fanatics, they need to actually be serious about growing their own business first.

It's pretty much the same rates, 1oz. to a pound costs the same. I've never had to pay more because I sent a BGS slab as opposed to PSA

Just got the new slabs. They feel great. Love the added weight. Can feel a difference compared to the “old one.” Also, no one is saying to carry 100+ cards with you. lol Agree with Doug, carry less!

Immediate reaction with the Player Worn Cards is WTF cus we, as the Hobby are not used to crazy new ideas. But once it marinates for a moment, it is a fantastic thing that Topps/Fanatics is doing, as it actually shows they are going out into the "field" and being involved in the Card World, unlike Panini who sat on their butts and just mass printed cards. 75+ years of ho-hum in the hobby, with very few innovations in cards, so I welcome anything! It's not about what they come up with, but more about the effort to try something new and fun involving cards, and how can any person get mad at that? And as far as the new PSA cases, I am all for it. They are fantastic. And who cares that it's 20% heavier? When the companies came out CSG, HGA, TAG etc..., some cases were noticeable heaveir than PSA cases, yet no one ever "complained" about that aspect. And we are talking 20% more on something that was already lightweight. If it's really an issue carrying them, then instead of 100 cards, carry 85! Or better yet, get a better card case, a lighter case, a lighter bookbag, or leave that heavy cell phone battery out, or that bottle water, or that kit kat bar,, or that t -shirt etc..., when you buy cards at a show and put them in your case, do we say "on no! It's now 7% heavier cus I bought 3 cards!" And who cares if its harder tpo crack open cus we might damage the cards. The point is, we shouldn't be cracking cards out or wanting someone else cracking them out and replacing it with GI Joe cards! Sheeeeeeeeeesssssshhhhhhhhhh

Isnt it alll a weird thing so game worn patch or game used card it’s a novelty but still kinda cool I mean it’s neat to me they aren’t giving them special grades it’s neat. I’m all for more engagement with the players. Plus we get random jersey not from anything in cards this is way better than that Also I think the likability of a player can far increase his value along with how exciting they are to watch as well.

Be a real person in the hobby and come out of the dark with a full thought for once! - I actually LOVE the idea of the card in the pocket. That’s actually “game used”, no clue why they called it game “worn”. I’m tired of the hobby treating every card that’s not a perfect 10 like garbage. When a raw is worth more than a raw card, the hobby is upside down. 😂😂😂 I love the creases in my Goudey Babe Ruth. I can imagine a kid taking it out of his pocket after a yankee game and putting it in his bicycle spokes. I can almost hear the crowd chat as I examine the creases like a road map. It’s like in individual palm. Every one is unique. I wish game used jersey cards had the game’s date inscribed on the back of every card. No clue how they have never figured that out in 30 years. I only own a few jersey cards that actually tell a story behind it.

"Game Worn Cards" seems like a stretch of manufacturing a collectible, 'tho it's acceptable and possibly appealing to some as a novelty, and the market controls the supply and demand aspect of what FMV is. With comic books, there's a grading company, CGC which witnesses the "Chain of Custody" where an autograph or illustration by an artist is witnessed and never leaves the hands of the talent/celebrity and the authentication company. So, what PSA is doing, if they follow that protocol, then couple it with the autograph, is an authentic viable collectible of interest to some. What I don't like is when the card companies do these "Game Worn" memorabilia / relic "jersey" (hat, or whatever) cards that has athletes putting on a piece of clothes for less than a few seconds, then take it off and the card company now can substantiate it was "worn" I also don't like these manufactured "patches" touted as being anything but a fancy embellishment, which is being pitched as something associated with the player using or wearing it. So, I feel the "Game Worn" term seems like a silly name which is causing the ire of collectors. I'd say "Player Possessed" would be better, then have an embossed date stamp and game info onto the card to distinguish it from other cards.

Hey, I’m hoping someone can answer my question. I have a very large collection of vintage baseball cards and in looking at the sales online it looks like RAW cards can sell as much as a graded 3, 4 or 5. My question is, if I’ve got lower tier VINTAGE is it still worth grading them or as far as value goes do you just keep it raw? And if you do it is it better to get a numerical grade or an “authentic” grade for the poor condition cards?

I love the concept. I also like the Topps Chrome Debut Patch card. Id love to get one of each of these first “series” for my collection. I’m sure these novel ideas will ultimately get over produced in the future, but I like the idea of getting a card with an actual game/player connection.

In the sense of players being more engaged with the hobby than simply signing a sticker, I think it's great. Custom inscriptions are pretty cool and I prefer those over just a scribbled signature. I have a /50 Encased Scripted Signatures from JJ Arcega-Whiteside inscribed with "Fly Eagles Fly" and "E-A-G-L-E-S". Now, that may be how he signs all of them, but still, I like something besides just a signature. Gimmicky or not, it's a change of pace, and nothing wrong with new and unique things. For the PSA slabs, I was hoping the latest submission I just got back would have the new cases, but sadly, was not to be. If it's anything like the CSG slabs, which are similar in size, but heavier, I'm good with it. Not going to object to better quality products.
